I love bringing the characters to life, have conversations to describe how the character acts in situations or even how comical they are, whether they are the stupid funny or the sarcastic funny. I also love to think of a scene for a really long time and finally write it down. :)

I like developing the character. Giving them flaws and quirks and stupid little patterns that they have everyday.

    Same here.
Sometimes I'm a little bit afraid to give my characters 'flaws' or anything, and that's a major problem I have as a writer.
Like, there's characters that I inintentionally make annoying or whatever, but sometimes I'm really afraid to say "his teeth weren't perfectly straight," or something. :XD

    I really love writing flashbacks.
And I like writing the last chapters, because it always makes me cry a bit.
Also when I get to write a scene that I've really wanted to write for a long time.

When the characters start falling out of my control :tehe:

It usually happens during dialogue - anything can happen during dialogue. It's like evidence that these characters are real. If you start writing dialogue and don't really have to think about it because you have these people in your head and they're talking and you're just writing it down... I enjoy it.

I realised this when I started writing this scene that was supposed to be not quite filler, but a scene that wasn't crucial - I intended on a conversation taking place about another of the characters. It all started going awry when I wrote one of the characters in this conversation as drunk in that scene, which I hadn't really thought of before, but it fit, so I went with it. The conversation never got around to that other character and escalated into something of an argument without raised voices, and suddenly a character I had thought of as kind of downtrodden was pushing the drunk one around a little, criticizing him... Ended with this guy being downright mean. I turned a character evil - well, not evil, but I changed him. I really hadn't meant to do that, but it all sort of made sense in the end that when the other guy was drunk was the only time he could stand up to him, and more, reduce him to (albiet rather drunken) tears. I love that scene for all it's complete angstfestery, because it was meant to be a relatively short, unemotional conversation.

Now I have to find somewhere else to put that conversation, seeing as how it is still important.

Just generally, I love character interactions. And writing backstory. Half of my current story is backstory running alongside the present tense(although, the present tense is written in past tense and the vignettes are written in present tense, which I'm not sure of the reasons for - perhaps I don't need one). I think it's mainly because I love character, and if you're seeing every character as a person then everyone has a whole life before the story begins and it's probably going to influence them. Nobody does something for no reason at all.

And the little things, little bits of description, any foreshadowing or symbolism I can put in there (not outlandish, just colours, things that are associated with other characters etc).

I love writing out lists of characters and giving them backstories. Only recently have I actually used my backstories and made them into actualy stories that run historically parallel to the actual story if that makes any sense.

Also, I love when my characters take over the story and they no longer do as I want them to.

It seems I like writing anything except romance, because I feel like I'm completley butchering the genre every time. I enjoy witty banter the most, revealing each character's individual personality XD

I love that, too. I just get a huge sense of accomplishment when my stories take on a life of their own.

I like coming up with names for my characters, giving them a personality, and thinking how they'd react with other characters. :D

I also like writing little emotional bits of literature-- but those never see the light of day. xD
