I dye my hair alot. Usually it stays within the brown/purple tones but I tend to get a different shade each time I do it. :XD
I bought red dye yesterday, but I'm going to have to get my hair stripped of colour before I do it. I have really dark tips and light roots so it'll turn out weird if i dye straight on top.

Is it safe to bleach your hair twice in one day? I've heard different things.

Apparently if you use a lower volume peroxide with a darker shade, it's okay, unless your hair is already in bad shape. If you're using bleach or a 30 or 40 volume peroxide, then you should not dye your hair twice in one night.

Bleach eats hair and it's more toxic whereas 10 and 20 volume lifts colour.

Okay, thanks. I'm considering bleaching my hair and since my hair's so dark, I'm pretty much expecting it to go orange at some point :shifty

This summer my mom is letting me get my hair dyed purple! YAY!!!!!
Before now my mom wouldn't let me use anything inmy hair other than shampoo. She let me use stuff that's so cheap it doesn't show up! I have fake purple highlights that I can take out at night now but I'm just waiting until July cause those look really fake.

Well then, it would be in okay condition to bleach the black out, however, if you were to bleach it, you need to leave your recently died hair for at least a week, maybe two before you attempt to bleach the dye out.
Doesn't it take multiple times bleaching it before it actually goes white -blonde, though? I've been told that it turns your hair gross colors.
Yeah, you have to bleach it, wash it out, bleach it again, wash it out.
There shoud be instructions on the package for how long to leave it in for. Each time you bleach it, it gets lighter.
If you're going from black, it will go red and gingery colours, then eventually work it's way up to a more white blonde.
But wouldn't that many bleachings like, kill my hair? My hair dresser said that it would.

^ Yeah, it will pretty much kill your hair, especially if you're going to blonde from black. You'll probably have to tone it at one point or another if you want a non yellowy blonde as bleach alone won't get it to a blonde-blonde. More of a light yellow, then after that it won't lift any more. Just wait a week between each bleaching, and deep condition it as well. Also the first time you bleach it it'll probably go orange-red and yellow at the roots. :/

I really wish I didn't dye my hair black. I want it to be red, not my natural colour because I hate it with a passion.
But I want really nice red hair. And I'm stuck with black. :grr:
I was thinking about bleaching it a while ago... but every thing platypus said put me off it :XD

^ I'm sorry D: ahahahaaaa oh god. Don't let me put you off, I'm just jaded because I've seen loads of people come into the hairdressers like, 'I want blonde in one sitting!' and then getting annoyed when it goes orange.
Honestly, you'd look really nice with red hair. As long as you bleach your hair carefully and sensibly it shouldn't turn out bad. :cute:

Oh no, you didn't. I was aware of all that stuff at the time :tehe:
I just meant like everything you talked about was stuff that put me off it.

But I might try it at one point in the near future. :tehe: I actually want pink hair :file:

I dye my hair way too often. I haven't been able to dye it any really unnatural/crazy colors yet, considering I go to strict catholic school, but in three weeks I graduate and as soon as I do, my hair is gonna be pink! Currently it's bleach-orange (bleach thrown on over black dye) in the back, and black in the front. It has been bleach in front/brown in back, bleach in front/black in back, all black, maroon, and then some natural color that I forgot, AKA the hair color I was born with. What color was it again? xD

I put a pre-lightener in my hair last weekend which is essentially just bleach and it's hardly any lighter at all :XD
I'm beginnning to think my hair has some sort of weird resistance to hair dye :tehe:

Can you bleach black dye out of your hair without killing it?
My aunt's a hairdresser, and she says that you cn either:
a: 1/2 the store-bought dye with shampoo, and it'll lighten the colour
    or
b: wait three months or so and go see a stylist and they can take it out in 2-3 treatments without killing it. It'll gradually lighten.

I changed my mind about dying it black; I'm going to dye it auburn brown.

I love to bleach my hair. I'm a natural blond, but it's really, really dark now. I don't do it as often as I'd like, but at least my hair isn't breaking off everywhere.

I want to bleach it and dye it a brown/red color. In Love

I'm going to bleach my hair after my exams. :3
I want to go really blonde. It won't be any good for my hair but I'll make sure to get some really good deep conditioner too.

only ever dyed my hair twice XD it holds onto dye really well.
last time i had pink i kept it in my hair for about a year because it faded to bubblegum pink and just stayed but it was underneath so you couldn't notice it was growing out. then when i got blue i kept it in my hair for about 2 months but i got tired of it although it was still blue XD
    so i guess i'm lucky

    I dye my hair constantly
I love having a new color, at the moment my obsession is red, but I have to go back to brown soon, which is something that I don't want to do :(

well let's see I started dying my hair in the seventh grade around the summer before the senior year my natural hair color was approaching with red in it then i died it black, then died it an auburn blonde or auburn something.
When I got my hair cut my hair person said you have four different colors but it does not look weird.
I think I'm going to let my natural hair color come back right now.
