I know him, I know him, I know him! I see his books everywhere! I love his stories! I love one which is Haunted, but I don't have the book. I secretly read it at the bookstore. :tehe:

I haven't read Haunted, but I've read Invisble Monsters, Fight Club, Rant, and Choke. Rant is definitely my favorite. I love him as a writer, but I don't think I'll be reading any more of his books for a while. They all tend to be the same story retold. Magnificently retold, but still...

I read Invisible Monsters and Fight Club. I took Choke out of my library and I was halfway through it, but it ran away from me and I have to put up a wanted poster.

But, yeah. He's the shit. :file:

I want to read Haunted next. It looks pretty good.

I haven't read enough of him to decide a favorite. Fight Club was mind-blowing, but Invisible Monsters was the first of his that I read and I was in a daze a couple days after.

Oh, and my friend and I made a rhyme about him:

How many niuks could a Palahniuk chuck is a Palahniuk could chuck niuk? :tehe:

I feel you there. I noticed that myself. Everyone is this kind of nothing-man-average-joe misfit who suddenly snaps, and does something drastic to change their life, or have a double life, and then meet a bunch of people at a therapy group or something and their whole life changes and everything is ANARCHY!

I don't like Choke much. I feel like there's too much going on.

Now that I think about it, Invisible Monsters was my favorite.

Yup. That's exactly what I was referring to. He has a great writing style but he's got this really strict "format" that he follows and his characters seem to be different versions of the same cut-out. Still enjoyable though.

I love his ideas. That he can take a topic that's been brought up before but skew it so wildly that it's still completely original.

^ Someone should challenge him and have him write something with a completely unfamiliar topic to him.

I'm trying to think... like, one of those Star Wars books or something. :XD

Well, for Pygmy, he wrote about a little kid who uses his science fair project to destroy America. It has to be an unfamiliar topic, the whole child-terrorist vibe thing. :file:

^ I've never heard of that one! Oh man, that sounds like something out of cartoon network.

I'm definitely reading that next! :XD

It hasn't been released yet. No

But from what I've heard, it still follows his same character outline.

Dammit, Chuck! We were so close!

Yeah... I guess I could see how it follows the outline.

Let's write a letter to him with suggestions for a Challenge.

^ He'll get so pissed. He's known for fighting with critics for saying that his books are all the same. Not that I don't blame him for fighting back.

It would be nice to see something different from him, but still in his same writing style 'cuz he definitely has great style.

Has anyone read "Snuff"? Is it good?

I really liked Snuff. It's probably the funniest book I've read in a while, but that's just me.

I really like his books, but I just can't get into Rant, the format distracts me and I can't stay focused enough to read it. Is it worth trying to get through?

I love Fight Club, but I have to say that his' writing reminds me a lot of Kurt Vonnegut.

I'm reading Choke at the moment. I just love the sarcasm, pessimism and truth he brings to his writing. He's already someone I know I could read for a long time.

Definitely is. The format can be a bit confusing, but as the story goes on, some really interesting things are revealed about the characters. It gets really good and there's a lot of 'oh shit' moments, when you can't really believe what's happening or you can't wrap your head around things. While I was reading, I ended up going back to things I'd read previously, just so I could really see what I missed and hints that were given.

I'm sure that there's some influence, but only minimal. I've yet to see any drawings of underwear in any of Chuck's books.

But honestly, I can understand where you're coming from. They both have a very genre-bending, unconventional approach to writing.

I don't know abuot Kurt Vonnegut, but he's definitely a genre-bending kinda guy. I didn't know fiction like that could exist before I read Invisible Monsters.

I think I kinda went :cheese: after finishing it and going, "Fuck, I have to write now." :XD
