I think Damned gets better as you read it - it's one of those books that really builds. I think what's probably the hardest part - especially for people who are not teens - is getting into the narrative. (I get that he wanted to do the 1st person narrative right but the main character's P.O.V. isn't really easy to sit through - tedious in a lot of way, annoying in others.) But once you get past that, there's a lot of interesting stuff there and later some really good ideas are revealed.
- pravda.:
- I never even finished Damned. Rant was one of my favourite books, Pygmy was a huge disappointment, Tell-All was, like Choke, just alright (I felt like he was plagiarising himself in T-A) and about ten pages into Damned I just put it down. Survivor, Invisible Monsters and Diary were good, Haunted and Snuff were disturbing - but Rant, Rant was so great - Chucky P what are you doing now come on.
