I really, really wanted to study abroad in the UK, but I didn't get into anything :( There's probably something I need to do that I'm messing up, because I didn't get any sort of response at all from most of my choices... though I'm not so much interested in the education as much as I just want a way to get a visa, and that's the only way I could see working out.

I would love to study in the UK! It's a big dream of mine. I was thinking about University of Sussex. Sounded very nice.

I'll probably not be able to study there though, it's quite expensive for my family and besides it'd be very hard. But a girl can dream.

I live in Australia, but I'm looking at studying medical science or something abroad in England, at either Oxford or Cambridge.
I'm not quite sure how I'd go moving countries and all that, but it's always been my dream to study there, ever since I was little and my mum visited London and brought me home an Oxford sweatshirt.
    Hopefully I can do it.

So I've just started A2, which means obviously I've got to start thinking about universities next year. Thing is, I know literally crap all about it. I live in Cornwall and have pretty much zero knowledge about the rest of the country, as much as I want to get out of here as soon as possible.

I want to study English, although I'm not sure exactly what specifically yet. Anyone got any suggestions when it comes to universities?

Are you registered on UCAS, I'm studying A2 as well and there's a course finder on the website to help you look for universities that study the specified course you want to study. There's open days available and did you go to the UCAS fair during AS?
(Side note: I'm from Cornwall too)

I've registered for it but looking at it kind of gives me a headache, haha. So many goddamn options. I know about the open days but I can't really get to any of them because I literally have zero money at the moment, to the point that I live on my friends floor. I didn't, I don't think my college had one ;_; there's just so, so many universities and I have no idea which ones are any good.

(Really? What college do you go to? I've been on this site four years and you're the first cornish mibbian I've met xD awesome.)

Think of the part of the country you want to live in (e.g. Scotland, Southern England so you'll be close enough to home to visit often, etc), then narrow it down to the kind of place you want to live in (major city, small city, town/village), then look at universities which are good for English (league tables are not a be all and end all, but they're a good starting point), go to their websites, check their programme requirements, format, etc. and gradually weed out options until you only have five. English programmes don't differ radically from one university to the other so just pick a place and an institution where you'll love spending three/four years of your life and a programme which will allow you to do everything you want to do (e.g. if you want to do a foreign language or literature in translation, look for programmes which allow that).

I go to the Sixth Form College in Wadebridge which is my hometown.
Also if you can't go to open days by yourself due to cash problems why not opt for your parents to come with you? Mine are coming with me because...well I don't want to go by myself.

Thank you Cute I think I'm just a bit overwhelmed by the whole process. It's come around far faster than I expected it to.

Ah right, a girl just moved to our college from there, actually. XD I'm in St Austell.

I was kicked out of home and disowned by my mother which is kind of the cause of the shitty living conditions and cash problems in the first place Shifty So that's a bit of a no go. I'm gonna have to attempt to weasel some money out of the college for it, I think, but I have no idea how that'll work out.

Hi guys, I'm doing my UCAS at the moment and I cannot decide on universities! I am applying for Physics with my predicted grades being:

    Physics A
    Maths A*
    Further Maths A
German A* (I already completed that in year 12)

My list is much too long, I need to narrow it down to five, anyone might want to comment on it? Thank you :-)

    Edinburgh
    Bristol
    Manchester
    Nottingham
    Sheffield
    Leeds
    Southampton
    York
    Exeter
    Liverpool
    Glasgow

I'm applied for Sunderland University, Tesside University and Newcastle College that have a course that I want to do there.

I really want to do either Performing Arts or Musical Theater, and I've got an Audition-Interview at Newcastle for Musical Theater and can't wait, but I'm so nervous.

I applied for Bournemouth, Southampton, Birmingham, Liverpool John Moores and Edge Hill (which is also just outside liverpool)

I got rejected from Southampton, Birmingham and liverpool john moores...I had an interview for Bournemouth just waiting for hear back and now I have an interview for Edge Hill on 28th March.

I really really want to go to Edge Hill...One of the reasons is my fiancee but the other reason is that I really liked the university...Fingers crossed!

I was going to go to Newcastle uni last year, but the moderators from a particular exam board (not naming any names, but it's spelt O-C-R) decided that my music class's papers were all worth E grades, despite the ridiculous amount of work we all put in, including following the mark scheme verbatim.

So I've reapplied this year, with Newcastle and Canterbury Christ Church as my choices. Anyway, I have an unconditional from NCL, and have been promised an unconditional from CCCU too, so it's just about deciding which to go to.

Either way, I can't wait. Mr. Green

^ I'm applying to Newport this year as they allow me to do the English & Creative Writing course without a English A-Level (I still kick myself not doing it).
