Flip Flops at concerts?

  • If I were to go to a concert by.. say Colbie Caillat, and it was hot outside and I'd really rather be wearing open shoes; I would definitely go on flipflops because you're gonna know the music is mellow and everyone is gonna be mellow and fine because of it.
If I was going to a show that would involve more upbeat music which could lead to dancing/jumping/whatevering; I really wouldn't wear any shoes other than some decent and strong sneakers.

I think it just really depends on what show you're gonna see and what the crowd is gonna be like. On like a prom; all the girls wear high heels and flimsy open shoes and everyone is still gonna be dancing to techno music and the like, and I've never heard of someone ending up getting hurt because of it.
This to me shows that it's indeed possible to wear your flipflops with pride to a concert, without having to band aid your entire foot the next day.:cute:

  • I wouldn't wear flipflops to a concert, just because I would hate the idea of people stepping all over me! (which, would be my fault.) :XD However, I wear ridiculous high heels so I dread to think how many peoples feet I've ended up stabbing with them. Eeep. o.O

  • I would go for nay.

What if you lost one from being pushed/jumping around? And there's always spilled beer and drinks on the floor and then you'd have to step on that... you get my drift. Ew.

  • Haha well I'd think flip flops would be pretty dangerous to wear at a concert, but I guess it depends on the band playing.

  • Wow, that would be the worst idea ever.
With that being said, if you were seated then go ahead and wear flip flops all you like.
But if you're going to a show where you'll be standing, people will step on your feet no matter what.
I usually wear shoes that are closed in or something really sturdy like Doc Martens. (:

  • Yay because you don't want sweaty feet. xp It can get pretty hot up in thurr. Nay because if you're in a mosh pit, you'll be barefoot by the end of the night.xD

    O.O

  • When I went to see All Time Low once, there were these girls who decided to go in the pit. They had flip-flops on. And they started having a fit because people were stepping on their feet, and their hair was getting messed up.

I'm sorry, but if you're going to cry like a little baby, GET THE FUCK OUT THEN.

    :|

I decided to wear my sandals to Bamboozle. And I have no clue what possessed me to do it, but I did. And during All Time Low, I almost lost one.

I would have cried had I did, but I got it back. Never risking my sandals life again xD

  • I would depend where your at, at the concert.
If your not on the floor/in the crowd then no don't do it. People try to shove you around. If it's up in the nose bleeds or out on the grass, then sure why not?
    June 18th, 2009 at 05:06am
  • Definitly not. Especially if you are going to some rock concert where people think that they are cool and starting stuff like mosh pits or whirlpools. If you got caught in one of those, you'd probably come out with something broken or really hurt. Another thing is that people like to try to get to the front and they usually do that my stomping on your foot. I had this happen plenty of times to me... at a Metro Station concert!
Personaly, I'd be wearing those steal- toed boots. Some of them as seriosly cool looking so I wouldn't mind wearing them out to a concert =].

  • That is the one thing stupider then wearing heels in a mosh pit. The toes generally die in converse, so imagine in flip flops.
Not to mention, with all the jumping around how easy it would be to either lose a shoe or for someone to step on it and you to fall in the mosh and get trampled.
If you end up seated, then that's fine, but defiantly a no no for moshing.
Not to mention all the gross things on the floor that make it all sticky and horrid to walk in while wearing shoes.

  • Nay.
Your feet get squished in normal shoes, so flip flops would be horrific. omgno:

Plus - loads of my friends have losts a trainer or whatever at a concert, so if you wore flip flops you'd probably be going home in your bare feet. :tehe:

  • NONONONO. :twitch:
Well it depends on what kind of show you're at.
Summer concerts where you're no where near the stage in like the grass you'll be fine.
But say at a Bring Me The Horizon gig?
You'll be home with nothing but nubs.
    June 19th, 2009 at 07:53am
  • NAY.
Well, at the shows I go to.
If you go to something really chill and whatever, then yay.
    But generally, nay.
    June 19th, 2009 at 09:08am
  • nayy.

that would be....painful! especially if you are going to a moshing concert.

just thinking about it gives me goosebumps! >.>

  • :XD I find that the stupidest thing to do, even at an indie concert. Everyone would be jumping, regardless of no mosh pit. So in my opinion, wearing flip-flops to a show would be a definite no-no. :tehe:

  • My shoes came off once, and they were Vans slip ons. Imagine how shite flip flops would be?
Go for converse or trainers that fit properly. If you wear like vans or etnies or something they'll probably slip off your feet if you mosh or someone will step on them, so it's better to be safe and wear a pair that fit really well.
Nobody's going to be looking at your feet anyway, it doesn't matter if they're not that nice.

    Squishy toes!
    June 22nd, 2009 at 12:43am
  • Unless you like the idea of people stepping on your toes... I would say no.
    June 22nd, 2009 at 03:59am
  • Why would you wear flip flops to any type of concert, if you're going to be down on the floor near the mosh pit? :weird
If you're going to just hang out and relax at a festival like Bonnaroo, then I think flip flops are acceptable. But if you're going to be in the crowd, it seems like a dumb idea to me.
