Well, I never really mention their race in the story.
Only if I say they're pale or something.
    So yeah, they're usually caucasian.

Almost all of my characters are caucasian - I can't think of any off the top of my head who aren't.

But then, anything I've written with my lovely Tonks in may have her appearing as being different at times.

    Awesome idea :D
The mother of my main character in Music Girl is Italian. Though she didn't grow up there, her parents did, and had her when they immigrated to the US. There are quite a few characters in that story that are either Spanish/Mexican or French. Most of the Mexican characters are bad guys and the French good guys, but I have a character from each that play the other way. My favorite villan is an Egyptian who was raised in France. She's really fun to write. :D
But I don't really have one reason why I picked those ethnicties. I guess Mexican just works for the setting of the story, and I picked French because they can be snobby, but they have really strong opinions (mostly).

My characters aren't too diverse. My reason for that is because I'd like to use the background of their ethinicity in my stories, so therefore I need to do my research. I don't like stereotypes so I will look up where I say they're from and everything

A pet peeve of mine with some people who make their character black make it really obnoxiously obvious that they're black. I feel as though their race shouldn't be the main focus; it's not a character trait.

Example: A Jonas Brother dating a black girl?! as a story title. I am part african-american I don't find that title appealing in the least bit.

I don't post a lot anymore, but in stories I plan and whatnot I find I write a lot of Italian and French characters. I never usually mention their races in stories though, because I don't tend to really describe characters.

A lot of mine are German because I can speak it, and most of my fics are fanfictions. If the story takes place in America or the location isn't mentioned, you can only tell their ethnicity through names and what they speak. Most likely it'll be German, but I do have a half-Swedish character in According to You.

My most recent girl character has Egyptian and Persian blood from her mother, but is dominantly white from her father. Her name is Jasmine, for her Persian blood. My most recent boy character is African American on his mother's side and Hawaiian for his father's side. His name is Kale for the Hawaiian blood.

I am guilty of having mostly caucasian characters, but I'm trying to break free of that. It's hard, though.

In my story Your Ex-Lover Is Dead the main character Ryan is kind of mixed. His father is from the Dominican Republic, and that in itself is pretty mixed, though his father would swear by pure Dominican blood for his life, mean while Ryan's mother is very European, while if you'd ask she'd go into specifics but she too is very mixed, but mainly Polish and German.

My characters are usually caucasian, because I've grown up in a mainly caucasian area and when I make characters, thats the image I get in my head. Though Eric Freemantle in one of my unposted stories is African American.

I've noticed that most of my characters are caucasian, but sometimes I tend not to mention the race or the color of their skin if it doesn't seem important to describe their 'sickly pale' or 'burnished' color. But in one story, We Are, the main male character was African American and his gang buddies were all African American (in my head) but it was not at all implied in the story. And some main female characters in two stories (Elisa's Lullaby and We Are) are Spanish, but that was heavily implied.

I used to have an abundance of American characters, but lately I included Filipino, Jewish, German, or French ones.

Mine is probably much diffrent from everyone elses.
In my story Extranormal, almost all the characters are black excluding the teachers (some are black though)
Essence (Main character) is Jamaican and Sudanese and so is her brother (Jamal)
Bonita is Jamaican, Chinaza is Nigerian, Rashid is Sundanese, Bryant is a shit mix of black...
Oh yeah, there's a white guy named William. Another one named Drake (but he goes to jail with a lot of charges) his brother James (the two of them are hardly in the book). And such and such. Those characters are most important. But almost every broad ethnicity (white, black, asian, hispanic etc.) is mentioned. But most of the people mentioned are black.

Then there's my story Emails to Marcus. Everyone's black. There isn't a single ethnicity that's different.

There's my story Eternal Love. All of the main characters are black and most of the teachers are too. But there's some mixes of junk in there of black and other races. Jess is white though and she's considered a main character. The main character is just black (her ethinicty was lost during slavery like a lot of black folks [including me because I don't know what the hell I am]) But there's a lot of different races in that book.

In my story Vacant: Lost Souls the Smith's family is black but the ghosts are a variety of races. (But the main ghost is white)

Those are just the stories I have on this site. If you want to see them, the link is in my signature to all of my stories it said, The creative mind speaks with words.

These are the stories that aren't on the site.

Dream Life Both of the main characters are black (there isn't one main character, the story is different... in a good way. =) ) And there's going to be mainly black people in the story.

The sci-fi that doesn't have a title yet, the main character (nickname Mar Mar) is... appears to be black but she's something... But her foster mom is white. There's not a mention of a lot of people in the book (the book is different too)
(I write a lot of fantasys)

In Mesozoic Era, only black people are mentioned. (Yeah, another sci-fi with prehistoric organisims in it)

That is all as of now.

I understand what you mean. It's hard for me to break free of the African American character
    Sad
I don't wanna... hahahaha. But I try to toss other things in there.

I agree 100%. If people read my stories (almost all the main characters are black) they'd probably assume they are white if I didn't mention their race once or twice because of the horrible black stereotypes there are on black people. And that's the worse title I've ever seen. I mean, why does it matter? Black is NOT a character trait at all. It's a race. I mean, a group of black people would probably act different than a group of white people but it doesn't mean people have to act like its that big of a deal.

For a recent character of mine, Tate, he's Mexican/Caucasian. I actually started with his parents first - he is merely the offspring.

Usually though, I never include the race but mostly all my characters are tan or something.

Generally, I find it easier to write about white characters because I'm white, but I do have characters from countries other than America.

Most of the rockstars in my stories are from Finland, and one of my OC's in my fanfiction starring Jussi Vuori is from Finland as well.

I think the reason most of my characters are American is because i've lived here my whole life, so i know what its like living here. I can more accurately describe the atmospheres of certain places i've been, rather than places i've only seen in photographs.

also, my main character in my Billie Joe Armstrong story has quite a bit of British blood in her because i do. i feel a strong connection to England because my Nana was born there and i have cousins and aunts and uncles there, who come to the states to see my family here. i hadn't originally intended it, but i kept unintentionally making her wear things with the British flag on it, that i just wrote it in.

Most my characters are white. I try to put in different races as well, but seeing as I live in a town with hardly any coloured people, I sometimes simly forget.
I have planned out at least one black character and a Korean character for my new story though. (:
