Have you ever read a book and half way through you're still not sure if you love it or just hate it?

I have. Evermore by Alyssa Noel and The House of Night series by PC and Kristin Cast.

Evermore was a lot like Twilight so I didn't know how to respond. And In the House of Night series--though I really like it--I just hate the main character. And it's kind of hard to read a book when you hate the main character.

I brough Dean Koontz, the good guy, the start was brilliant then as i got more into the book the plot sort of dropped. I couldn't really get into the plot but at the same times i loved how it was written just as much as i didn't. :S

Any Arthur C. Clarke book I've read.
The geek inside me adores them, but they tend to be extremely slow.

I've come across this issue loads of times. Maybe I'm just a picky reader overall.
Though, I must say when I started reading Prey by Michael Crichton I was overall indifferent. I loved the plot and everything, it was different from what I normally read but I think the reason I couldn't help but dislike the book was due to the fact that it made me feel slightly unintelligent. It spoke a lot about machinery and nano-particles(I can't blame that very much since the novel revolved around them) and basically about stuff I just couldn't comprehend. It was frustrating and when it was done I didn't know what to feel. I must say, I left knowing a lot more than I did before I read the book. Swoon

An Imaginary Life - David Malouf. The plot (there's barely any) is really slow, but his style is quite nice.

The House of Night series. I just despise some things in the series like how the characters talk and how the main characters are so amazing and have these awesome powers yet I can't stop reading them.

The Vampire Kisses series. It's just so cliche yet it's the same as the House of Night series. I can't stop reading it.

Yeah, I read this book called Betwixt, it was so weird, and I didn't get a lot of it, but I still liked it.

Although the ending was so stupiddd.

It's by Tara Bray Smith btw.

    Yeah actually.

The whole House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast. It would be a good series if it were not for the main character. Same with Twilight. Has the possibility to be an amazing book if the two main characters would shape up.

Night's Child by Cate Tiernan is also sending me mixed signals. I love the series and the book itself is not bad, but the characters annoyed me to no end.
I have to end that there, because my rant on this book is usually about six paragraphs long at a minimum.

I dislike books that go on and on, and then just end. They never really have a point to them, it annoys me.

Yet you can't really call it a bad book because it does have things of interest in it, just no point to them.

Does that make any sense?

The Luxe series by Anna Godbersen. I love the way she writes, but... I am getting irritated with the plots even if they might be great, and the fact that I don't like reading romance, but still I keep reading them  My explanation is that she's a far too good writer for me to pass on.

Thomas Mann's Magic Mountain. It was amazing, funny and enlightening after I finished it and looked back on it and I'm glad I managed to finish it, but it has over 1200 pages and it felt like it was never going to end and nothing ever happened.

I have this problem with Twilight. I'm on the first chapter of Breaking Dawn, but can't decide whether or not I like the series.

I've got a love/hate relationship goin' on. Because on one hand, I love the characters but I don't like Stephanie's writing style.Or her.

Right now I'm reading How To Be Lost by Amanda Eyre Ward, and I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'm about three quarters into it, and I keep reading because I want to know how everything's going to turn out, but I still don't know if I like it or not. It really reminds me of a book we had to read for A2 English, and I hated that. It's not exactly the same, but it has similarities and I think that's whats putting me off it a little.

I don't usually have this problem with books, I usually decide quite quickly whether I like one or not, but this one hasn't gone that way at all.
