Anette wouldn't mind dying on stage. She really wouldn't mind at all. Just to have her death witnessed by hundreds of people as she played her part on the glorious set with the hot lights over her head and her heart pounding from adhrenaline would be a very good way to go. Not that she had thought about it (much), but she thinks she would like for it to be a Shakespeare. Maybe Romeo and Juliet, and she actually kills herself. On the set of a tall tower, wearing an elegant, velvet dress (midnight blue, of course), and her hair all done up and pretty... what a romantic way to go.

If your character has them, describe a recurring dream they have/have had in the past, or if not, a dream that has influenced them in some way, particularly the look of the dream.

Nikesh used to have this dream where he was stuck in a box. It wasn't a coffin or anything like that, it was just a box. Square, probably about six feet across and six feet tall, with enough room for him to move around comfortably. But he never did, not once.

There were faces on the walls. Not pictures of faces. Actual faces. They were flat and two-dimensional and they didn't look alive, but there was something about the eyes that he couldn't look away from. For the whole dream he'd just sit there, watching the faces, alternating his gaze between each pair of eyes, just to make sure none of them moved.

It was a pretty fucking weird dream, to be honest. He hasn't had it in a few years, but when he did he used to wake up shaking and clammy and with the inexplicable urge to cry.

David died right near Claymore High School, the school he went to. He was driving his little brother Brendan home from a talent show he was at, but had been drinking. Brendan decided to walk home after realizing the danger they were both in, but David kept on driving.

He crashed into a streetlight at the intersection between the school's road and the main road that leads to Claymore's mall and downtown. That night, there weren't that many people on the road, but the few that were there were witnessing a horrid death. David had intentionally crashed into that pole.

There's a crosswalk that David's front end just barely touched, one where kids normally cross when they walk to school. Most of the streetlights along those roads are old and rusty anyway, but when he hit it, it buckled into a sharp bend and eventually toppled over onto his car. At the corner next to that light, there was a convenience store and an auto shop, and just down the road was an animal hospital. The night he crashed was dark and hazy outside, too foggy to see too far ahead.

However, months after his suicide, the city put a bouquet of flowers and a cross at the site in which he died. (This is a common ritual for Claymore.) The flowers were fake and the wood is splintered, but it's still there.

Describe a site your character goes on vacation to.

Before their dad got shipped off to the military base in Austria, Mikey and Gerard's parents would take them to the beach.

It wasn't a touristy-idealic beach, but their grandparents had a small beach house there, so they visited it often. It was rocky and the water was often frigid, but that didn't stop the boys from having fun. They would play in the sand and chase each other across the rocks and boogy board when the waves were high enough. Sometimes, Gerard would bring a sketchbook and Mikey would go hunting for starfish, and tried to guess all the names of the fish in the tidepools.

But that was a long time ago.

Describe the one place your character desperately wants to go to.

Um... how is this scenery? Shifty I think that question belongs in the Character Development thread, not Scenery. I'll just answer Icamane's question.

Desperately, Luca wanted to go to the beach. He wanted to feel the white sand between his feet, feel the hot sun beat on his skin and the salty breeze tickle his skin. He wanted to lounge in the shade of palm trees with Florian and build sand castles by the water. But the tropic beauty and serenity was what Luca wanted most of all.

The kitchen, like everything else in that cold, marble mansion, is made of black and white marble with sleek, dark grey metallic appliances. The floor is wooden, and the windows are large, giving a good view of the street outside. There is a lot of counter space, hanging pots, and there are fancy dishes in the cupboards. Along the bar are several stools where Sam eats most of her meals. The arches in and out of the kitchen lead to the dining room and to the hallway, respectively.

What does your character's house (or place of living) look like from the outside? (A street view)

Florian's house was enormous - big enough to be a mansion, even. He was of wealth, and that was obvious. The lawn was neatly trimmed and a perfect green; the flowers in the gardens lining the house were just beginning to bloom in the springtime air. The house was constructed of stone and had a rustic, old time structure. The most prominent feature of Florian's home, however, was the broken window on the east side. Blood stained the glass.

The basement of Mikey's house is... well, more of a lair, actually. Gerard's lair. After a quick trip down the stairs and through a painted door, you would find yourself unable to navigate without tripping over something or other. Art of various mediums covered the walls, covering meaning "unable to see what the walls were actually made or nor what colour they were." Unwashed and, occassionally, washed clothing litters the floor, and the is hardly any natural light in the room. Art tools are sprawled all over every possible surface, as are CD and record cases. Everytime Mikey wonders why people get so weirded out by how pale Gee is, he reminds himself of this room.

Describe your character's favorite nature setting.

There's this beach they used to go to a lot, before Rhys and Merryn's mum died. Sometimes they'd bring Benedict, if he wasn't visiting his parents. It's in Swansea in Wales where their parents grew up and it's usually abandoned except in summer because it's so cold and wet and windy. There's a stretch of rocks and pebbles and bits of sand, littered with bottles and plastic packaging that they used to gather up and put in bins, with little rock pools filled with sea creatures that their dad, who used to be fascinated by that kind of thing, would tell them about. The sea's always choppy and extremely cold but they'd venture out a few feet with their sleeves rolled up and their trousers hiked up over their thighs and paddle, splashing each other. And then, when they were freezing cold and soaked from head to foot, they'd climb up the hill together and lie down on the grass, staring up at the sky or out at the grey, murky waters, and breathe in the pure, unpolluted air.

Merryn loves it, but the few times she's suggested visiting since her mother died, both Rhys and her dad froze up and point-blank refused to go.

In the oldest part of downtown, there's a little bookstore. Luca could spend days there, if he was allowed. There's hundreds upon hundreds of books on the shelves lining all the walls. Luca would spend hours sitting and reading, finding books and taking them home to add to his growing library. The elderly woman who owned the store thought of him as a son, just as he saw her as a grandmother.

Several bad things have happened to Todd in the boy's lockerroom in the school's gymnasium. It's a relatively small room with lockers lining the walls. It opens in the back into a restroom and shower area that is generally not used except by sports teams after games. True to stereotype it has a tendency to smell awful as sweaty garments and socks and things are lost or left in lockers. The lockers are a dull yellowy, beige and most of them are in poor condition. The floor is cool, unforgiving concrete that tends to stay dusty.

My old bedroom- the walls were decorated with a pink color. I can't remember the exact color now, but I know it was pink. My bed was small, a little bit smaller than a twin size bed, and it was shoved against the wall furthest from the door. There was one window, and it sat directly across from the door. I had a medium sized blue toy chest that sat in front of it, only filled half-way with barbie dolls. The floor was a dull colored carpet, that was pulled and replaced a few years before I moved back to La Push, and had random stains on it. And sitting in the middle of my bedroom floor was a doll house that I played with every day after school, and cried for weeks when my mother "accidently" sold it to our neighbor.

Todd hates fun-houses almost as much as he hates the circus. He's not...scared of them per se, he just flat out hates them. The mirrors are the worst, the ones that distort your image. The ones that seem to mock you as they show you what they want to see. Or maybe the moving tunnel is the worst, throwing off your balance and giving you the feeling deep down in your gut that makes you tremble and get sick.Oh, and there's also clowns.

Florian remembers the kitchen of the first house he'd lived in. He sees the flowered wallpaper his grandmother picked out and the dark blue cabinets. There's blood on the floor and his parents are screaming at each other. Florian is young, only seven, and holding his four year old little sister like a toddler would hold a teddy bear. This is the first time he's seen his mother abused, but it won't be the last.

"My first ever date was when I was fourteen and the guy I went with was this total nutcase. He was skinny and had silver stud in his left ear and called himself a 'thug'. Right. Well, we went to the movies and he tried to put his hand up my skirt but I spat in his face and ran home. Yeah, not one of my best dates." - Frieda, Of Love and Memories

No question was posted so I'll just do the last one.

"Our bedroom is, well, I guess it's the fairly standard, boring adult bedroom. The walls are a sea-foam green and there's white trim. There's a soft, bluish carpet. There's a Wicked poster hanging on one wall, and I guess that's the most interesting, definitely my favorite, decoration. That's not my favorite part of the room though; my favorite part is our nice, cozy bed because that's where I get to fall asleep next to and wake up next to the love of my life every night and every morning. Sorry if that's really cheesy. Least favorite parts? I guess my least favorite part, if I had to settle on one, is keeping it tidy. That's more Susan's forte." -Dr. Samuels, The Impossible Children

"My parents run a cafe down the road in the middle of St. Augustine. They call it Old City Café, and the outside looks like a pretty regular beach shop - you know, wooden porch, driftwood decorations, life rings and ropes, the works. There's even sand everywhere outside from tourists tracking their sandals around the place, which just means that I have to sweep a lot, haha. On the inside, it always smells like coffee, no matter what time of day it is. We've put up tons of knick-knacks over the years, and a lot of it is tacky beach-themed stuff since we basically live on the beach. It's a lot of postcards and photos, along with some generic coffee-themed decorations. There are ten booths and three small tables, and I think the overall color scheme of the place used to be light blue and sandy brown before all the random decorations muddled up the place. Still, it's a nice little café and people seem to like it. As far as the front counter goes, there's one register (that I'm usually behind on weekends, because weekends give us a lot of business and my parents like to be in the back making things) and two coffee machines. We have rows of iced coffee cups and straws and whipped cream and everything else you can think of to make coffee with, and we also have an Icee machine and a basic Coke machine. We also have all of our baked stuff on display behind the counter underneath a glass sneeze shield; there are cupcakes, cookies, cake slices, soups, salads, sandwiches, donuts - all sorts of stuff. It's a little tourist trap, but it's my home away from home!" - Summer Hayashi, Born Lucky

"I'll never forget that damned coffee shop, the spring rain lightly falling from the overcast sky, bringing all the greenery back to life, the flowers just beginning to bud, that new smell in the air, mixed with the common exhaust fumes and fast food breakfast of almost every main street in the city at this time of day. The sidewalk is cracked and in desperate need of a redo, the holes left from the cracks making puddles from the rain. I've always loved jumping in puddles, ever since I was a little kid; it's just one of those things that's never going to die in me. I was a good kid, never did a thing wrong in my entire life, until I jumped in that fated puddle, coming face to face with the most important person in my entire life." - David Owen, Coffee and Cigarettes

Scenery is definitely trickiest to describe. You get like a paragraph at the very most to describe an entire castle or throne room before your readers lose interest. I think the best way to do it is by painting them a broad picture of the overall scene and letting their imaginations thrive and fill in the rest. Otherwise just bore them to death with a chapter describing the environment or draw them a picture lol
