Van Gogh painted Starry Night, it's quite an impressive painting.
The Scream by Edvard Munch scares the hell out of me but I find it really awesome.
I wouldn't call it my favorite but I really love it.
And I'm a fan of Pointillism. It's probably my favorite movement.

My favourite artist is a French painter, Fragonard, (I'm not sure how you spell the rest of his name). My favourite painting by him is, "The Swing" though it's a bit suggestive, I think it's beautiful :cute:
I studied his work last year for art and chose that painting for my final project ^^

My favourite artists are Dali and Magritte. My life's ambition is to buy massive canvases of their work and hang them up all over my house, when I have enough money. tehe

My favourite Dali piece is probably Metamorphosis of Narcissus, stemming from my love of Greek Mythology and double images. As for Magritte... you can't deny that The Treachery of Images is genius in it's own right, and I;m also fond of The Lovers and The Discovery of Fire.

I find Art History fascinating. At some point it was a potential major for me, but I checked the courses the university offered, and 90% of the subjects was plain history, not even related to art, and I don't think I could handle that.

My favorite painters are Gustav Klimt and Salvador Dali, but I really like Caravaggio and Manfredi, too. There's something about the dramatic lighting, I guess.

A good start would be a general introduction book. Something like Isms: Understanding Art which is witty and really easy to read. From then on, it's easy to look up whichever artist or movement seems interesting. You might also want to browse through google art project which shows you incredibly high definition pictures of famous art collections and smart history which is full of interesting facts about art history.

^^ Also, try learing about the elements and principles that make up art. You know those, majority of the other stuff will follow easily. :)
