I never got this poem until I listened to the song Gold and Green by Sugarland. I also looked at the lyrics, then right away I got it.

A line in the book I'm reading presently, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Ocsar Wilde, struck me as fascinating (as well as many of Lord Henry 'Harry' Wotton's never-ending speeches ).

In regards to Dorian Gray himself from the viewpoint of 'Harry' himself:
