Oh, Lord, make sure you have your tissues ready when you watch Bridge to Terebithia. XD Cry

(It's a book, too, which was twice as sad. Sad)

    -

Any good "modern" adaptations of Shakespeare plays? I've seen Romeo + Juliet, and my copy of the 2006 version of Macbeth will be here any day now. tehe

(And when I say "modern", I mean the Shakespeare plays set in modern times, but with the original play script -or something close to it- tehe.)

But that aren't just full of scenes that's supposed to make you cry. Movies that are happy too. Like My Sister's Keeper or PS. I Love You!
But obviously not them, cos I've seen those. Weird

    Thanks!
Sorry if this is really late, but A Very Long Engagement. I weep like a baby. XD It's a French film, if you've not seen it, but it's so exquisite.

    Animated Superhero movies?

Not like childish ones, ones like Ultimate avengers that kind of hint at sex, alcoholism and are quite violent Shifty

    Any love movies?
And I mean proper love movies, you know... love movies.
That make you swoon and sigh and get all giggly. Not romantic comedies like The Proposal or Bridget Jones. But really, really, romantic movies with happy endings and sweet stories. Like Ever After or something like that. Love, happiness and romance people - it's what I want.

Some may not have happy endings, some may not be exclusively about love, but they're all pretty sweet and portray love in a much truer and touching fashion than cookie-cutter rom-coms:

    In The Mood For Love
    It's A Wonderful Life
    Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain
    It Happened One Night
    Punch-Drunk Love
    Finding Neverland
    Closer

^ Haha, I've already seen Closer and Finding Neverland. Though Finding Neverland was amazing I can't watch movies like that. I only want movies with happy endings at the moment. I cried for days, and seriously - no.

So, happy endings is a must.

haha Alright then Amelie and Punch-Drunk Love would be the best ones for you to watch.

P.D.L is kind of a love it or hate it movie though.

Any tearjerkers? I don't cry easily, so it'd have to be amazingly sad!

Examples of films that have brought me to tears are Bridge to Terabithia, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands and Prince of Egypt (XD I cry at weird things, okay).

Also, any good slash-y films out there? Preferably without too many sexual scenes. Facepalm I'm quite interested in Brokeback Mountain- would you guys recommend it?
Not sure if you are still looking for tearjerkers, but Angela's Ashes was an incredibly sad movie. I go teary eyed so many times while watching it. I never finished it though. I wasn't able to.

I'm studying two courses on Vampirism and horror this summer, and I'm on the lookout for some vampire movies (and tv-shows too).
Obviously I've already been provided with a list of movies we have to watch, but I was thinking maybe to go in a bit deeper.

The movies (tv shows) I already have on my list:
Bram Stoker's Dracula, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Let The Right One In, Nosferatu, True Blood and Twilight.

So except for these (and Interview With The Vampire and The Vampire Lestat - since I've seen those already and we're required to read the first book anyway) do you have any tips for good vampire movies?

Underworld, Underworld; Evolution, The Vampire's Assistant, Blood Rayne, Blood Rayne 2, Daybreakers, Queen of the Damned, Blade, Blade 2, etc. I'll probably find some more to add.

I'm so not into Underworld, Blade or The Vampire's Assistant. I've seen Queen of the Damned - but I've been meaning to watch Daybreakers for a while. So I'll have to check that one out!

Have you seen Lost Boys? It's sort of more of a comedy, but it's one of my favorite vampire movies. I heard 30 Days of Night is a good movie too, although those vampires are more evil and different from the ones in Interview With the Vampire and True Blood and stuff. I think From Dusk Til Dawn is a vampire movie. I haven't seen that one, but I heard it was good.

^ I've seen all of those already actually.
Lost Boys is a really good vampire movie, I'll make sure to rewatch it before my classes start because I'll want to include some theories from there.

How about any vampire movies that evolve around love?
Between a vampire and a mortal, I mean. And obviously I know about Twilight and I've seen it already. x]

I don't know if you're required to read Carmilla, but The Vampire Lovers is based off it as well as Blood and Roses and several others.

Shadow Of A Vampire is a story about the filming of Murnau's famous 1922 film Nosferatu although the character of Max Shreck is actually a vampire in this movie, not just acting.

Werner Herzog did a remake of Nosferatu called Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht. Stephen King's Salem's Lot revolves around vampires. The Monster Club is the only time Vincent Price ever portrayed a vampire. Fright Night and its sequel deal with vampire neighbours. There's also John Carpenter's classic Vampires.

Zen sounds like an interesting premise, but it's not on Netflix, therefore I haven't seen it yet. Marebito involves vampirism in a way I guess. F feeds off blood, although that's more of a side plot than the main idea. One of the best movies Sundance plays on Asia Extreme though.

As for romance, besides Let The Right One In, which is just amazing, try Near Dark. It's one of Kathryn Bigelow's first films and a cult classic romantic vampire movie as well. It's not that great, but it's still decent enough. The Hunger, starring David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve features some odd love triangle with Susan Sarandon.

And if you ever want to see a vampire movie butchered to death, my producing teacher made a movie called Club Vampire, which is the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life and I've watched Manos The Hands of Fate three times. Immortally Yours is pretty awful as well.

It pays to be a film student sometimes.

Okay, I've been in like a movie frenzy lately. In the past week or so I've watched Zombieland, Fanboys, Whip It, Clueless and Old Dogs. Now, Zombieland was AMAZING, I seriously have never loved a movie like I love Zombieland. But anyway, I've come to a halt and I can't think of any movies, which is weird, but I'd like to watch something like the ones I've listed above.

I am a huge sucker for teen romance/comedy movies, like Mean Girls and Clueless, but I love Indie movies and movies like Into The Wild, Adventureland, Alpha Dog and In The Land of Women. Anyone got anything along those lines?

I love young actors like Kristen Stewart, Adam Brody, Emma Stone, Ellen Page, Rachel Bilson, Olivia Wilde, and people like that. I know that may be a big vague or versatile, but still, anyone got any ideas? Very Happy

EDIT: I also love The House Bunny and Anna Faris. So there's something else. Smile

I don't know if you're still looking, but The Hamiltons is the best vampire film I've ever seen, hands down. But it doesn't explicitly state that they're vampires, and it deals more with the effect vampirism has on their family, and how they come to terms with it, rather than the actual vampire-ness itself (if that makes any sense XD), so I don't know if it'd be relevant. Like...it's the most 'human' vampire film I've seen.

    ^ That sounds lovely.
I'll have to check it out, without a doubt.

I'm on another request mission atm.
Any killer movies, that focus more on the killers than the victims? Like, more from their pov, so we get to understand what they're thinking and what they're feeling. Not anything from the victims pov where they're just crying or whatever all the time.
Bonus if it's really twisted, and out there. I don't care if there's blood/guts/whatever.

However, I want it to be "nicely" done. In other words, nothing like House Of 1000 Corpses, but rather something along the style of Funny Games. There doesn't have to be a clean reason behind the killings, but I don't want it to be like, a crazy family laughing like maniacs and living in a trailer and being all inbred or whatever.

Cold, but from the killers POV. Like that Christian Bale movie, American Psycho.

    Anything?
