^ I sing with vibrato. Quite a lot actually; I'm trying to stop using as much because people seem to think I'm an opera singer, and I'm not. Apparently a lot of people don't use it, but I don't think that's right. It should be used to make a note more beautiful and resonant. It's always come very naturally to me, I've never actually had to think about it, but some people struggle a lot with it I know. It depends on your muscles and control.

I've been singing since I was 14, after picking up a fiddle and learning to read music when I was 13. It's who I am now, and I love it. I've had lessons for about... 2 years now, and my teacher's brilliant, he's really helped me a lot. I got my Grade 7 a couple of months ago, got a distinction (OH YEAH!) and I'm probably gonna have a new teacher when I go to college, and start work on my Grade 8.

I sing in the soprano range generally, but I can belt like a bloke from low E to a Bb an octave above, with the higher notes generally being a lot purer. I used to be able to sing in the whistle register as well :( Can't anymore however, well barely ever anyway. Guess my voice has just got lower.

Singing makes my life. I sing everywhere: in the car, on the sidewalk, fucking everywhere. I've taken lessons before (though not for long) and have written a few songs of my own. I sing along to everything, lolol.

    @ itsy bitsy spider.
I've been singing my entire life, but only mastered singing with vibrato in my junior year of high school. I never really payed attention to vibrato growing up -I just sang for the love of it and worked more on my range than anything (currently I sing 1st tenor in a choir, but I've been 1st soprano many times prior). However, my junior year I really wanted to start doing musicals, and I noticed that vibratos are essential. I looked up a lot of tutorials on youtube and practiced for about a month and then I got it down.

A vibrato isn't something that only certain people can do -anyone can do it. At first when teaching myself how to do one, I had to force the vibrato -but now it comes so naturally I don't even have to try.

Also, ever since I started focusing on vibratos, it annoys me to know end hearing someone sing without one. lmfao Especially on very long notes. I just cringe. XD

^I say go for it. Singing is quite fun.

I'm an alto with quite a low range. I can almost make it to the mezzo point, but that's where my break is. My music teacher at school cannot stand my voice. I've never been trained so I lack a head voice, but I have a super strong and developed chest voice that could knock a wall down. It sucks not being able to sing all of the pretty girl parts. I feel most comfortable singing tenor to be honest. Yet, my music teacher doesn't believe in girls singing low. He says there is something wrong if we can sing with the men. Sad

But on a happier note, I adore long notes.

Singing is easily one of the best stress relievers in the world, and if I could, I'd do it as a profession. But besides that, there is nothing better than singing on top of my lungs to Adele when I'm mad at a past ex, or singing like a crazy in love teen to Taylor Swift.

I love to sing, I'm an alto and I can go a bit low and a bit high. I've never really had any vocal classes, but I like to think I'm pretty good. According to my friends... Laughing tehe they love me.

I'd sing to anything except Gangnam Style- I once did a rendition of Get Crazy by LMFAO.

    Yeah.

This is kind of late, but you should NEVER EVER EVER try to force or make vibrato! It comes naturally with proper technique/breath management. Once you're comfortable in technique you CAN manipulate it to be faster/slower/more pronounced/fainter, but only to a certain point.

You can try some basic vocal warm ups! Start by breathing low in your diaphragm (which is admittedly difficult- try putting your hands on your lowest ribs and breathe into them) and keeping that portion of your stomach tight to really support the diaphragm. There should be NO tension in your neck/mouth/head- if you're tense, your larynx and tongue won't be able to move freely! Vibrato should almost make your voice feel out of control and all crazy. As far as the actual WARM UPS, a good one is picking a comfortable pitch for your range and singing "EE EE AHHHH..." while really focusing on your resonance. You should feel the note "buzzing" somewhere between your upper front teeth and your nose as you sing EE, and by AH you should have the resonance on lock and hopefully have a little vibrato (at least by the end of the breath).

There are plenty of videos on YouTube of vocal warm ups and what particular warm ups do for your voice, so that may be a good place to start!

Aaand hopefully that makes sense and helps some. If not, let me know and I'll try again. :P

I like singing in my car or whatever. I wouldn't say I'm good enough to be famous or whatever but I can hit high notes pretty well. However, one thing I cannot stand, is someone seriously singing a song while I'm driving, when they know I like the song and don't want it ruined by someone's background humming. It's annoying as shit so I usually turn the song to something instrumental lol.

I'm going to necro-post here and just say briefly that I love singing.

The way your face buzzes when you're in head voice, the way the mask and the chest vibrates when you've discovered mix, the way the air seems to just move through you in falsetto, the way a rough whistle feels when you've had a bad day.. Oh my, I'm infatuated. I would be receiving professional lessons this summer, but my mother is too busy and I couldn't burden her with that. But, I love singing and I kind of either want to be a musical actress or go into vocal science or something like that.

I sing alto part in choir... But as an individual I'm a mezzo-soprano. I'm really loud and have been told I sound like an opera singer. I wish I had vibrato, I sort of do... But it's very uncontrolled. Mixed voice is my absolute favorite register. I'm really loud-- people up the street have complained to my mother about being able to hear me. One day, I actually placed my microphone outside and realized they were right. Shocked I sorta have stage fright so that was absolutely mortifying.

But, I am infatuated. I am so glad I was pushed to take choir. Literally, the choir teacher came to me in the hallway (he was my piano teacher that semester) with a slip from guidance and told me, "So I heard you want to get out of 3rd block art..." And I'll never forget the look on his face when I skipped out on my spring concert for being too nervous. I do believe that scared the stage fright out of me.

I love the voice... And I know technique. Anyone that wants to learn how to sing, just PM me and I'll give you some links or something. Singing just gives me so much happiness and I'd love to share that.

I've been singing for at least five years but I decided about two years ago to focus my attention on classical voice(opera). That's probably the best decision I've ever made. I got lucky and was accepted into a CEGEP that has an absolutely amazing classical teacher, too. She has helped me expand my range by at least an octave. I used to struggle to sing an octave over middle C and now I can comfortably sing all the way up to soprano C. Another beauty about classical: there is absolutely no need for a microphone because we're taught proper resonance and placement :)

I used to think I was a mezzo-soprano but as it turns out, there's a good chance I'm a high soprano :) which is one of the most amazing things I've ever learned. I'm thrilled at that haha. As it turns out, my natural tone, too, is actually classical. I sounded like a classical singer even before I started training which is what pulled my attention to that type of singing lol.

I love singing and performing. I like singing in choir too although that tends to stress me out easily lol. I sing a lot of stuff in my free time though. I usually end up singing symphonic metal or higher rock songs (when I find them) when I don't have to practice the classical pieces. Singing is something that I want to do for a career. I don't know what i'll choose to do, though lol. First choice is being in a symphonic metal band or rock band. If that doesn't work out, I'd probably lean toward opera singer before music theater. If not, then that's life but a girl could dream lol.

I once sang a solo in the Mozart requiem. It was some tough training, but I did it classy and opera styled two nights. Goodbye Shower, welcome stage!

Singing is pretty much the only thing I feel I'm actually good at. I auditioned for my school choir and got sorted as a Soprano, but I was over the moon when my choir instructor told me I had a beautiful voice. Cheese

I'm very shy about singing in front of people, but the few that have heard me give it my all tell me I'm pretty good, so I'm happy as can be.

If I could sing for a living, I would LOVE to, but my parents don't approve. They think it's just a silly little hobby of mine. Thumb down
