- I don't like that some users don't bother to check the gender of another user and simply use female pronouns because the majority of mibba's users are girls.
Hm. I agree in part*, however, some users take their theme beyond name / ava / sig, to gender and age. It's not always immediately apparent - even going to profiles. (Which are sometimes not accessible.) (Which is, incidentally, something I don't particularly like about Mibba.) I have seen users correct other users, though, and then others in the thread continuing to refer to the person as the wrong gender - and I do think that's lazy and rude, since the person has gone out of their way to explicate it.
[Generally] I try to use usernames or gender-neutral language - there might be people who don't feel they fit one side of the gender binary, but had to pick one. And it avoids awkwardness if someone's theme suggests male, but profile suggests female (or is blocked, or ambiguous.) I agree that people should take a moment to think before posting, but having 'male' visible on the boards ≠ identifying as male / desiring male pronouns (and, as we've said, there are [very?] few guys.)
*That the laziness is definitely a thing. And does arise from the disproportion. (And probably affects new/unfamiliar males somewhat more than established/recognised male users, which is def not what you'd want on a social/friendly website.)
