I just went with it because I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I assumed the story editors would what the rules were.
You should probably message an admin so they can let the story editor know that's not correct unless they were the first word of the title or something. If another story editor sees that and asks you to change it, it could be a little irritating.

I've changed them back. I just wish rules were enforced uniformly. I think that if an editor once to go in and change things it should have it be approved by another editor, or better yet let the a user know of a rule violation and give them a chance to change things or explain something before they go in and do it the selves.

Quite frankly I wish story editors would stop with the nagging with minor capitalization errors and focus on the stories where the author clearly has no clue about a single grammar rule in their content. I've read stuff on here where random words were capitalized, the first letter of every sentence was lowercase, and the was not a space between the period and the following word. It is almost embarrassing. There are also users who seem to think they need to add about 100 exclamation points to make a point. There are bigger things that need attention. If I was to come across Mibba, I wouldn't be nitpicking title, I would be looking at the actual content of the stories themselves.

As for contacting an admin, I'm just going to let it be. I don't like starting conflict. I end getting worked up about nothing. I'll be over all this I'm a couple of days. Posting this was just my way of venting. If I had someone to talk to it probably would have been a private matter, but I don't. I even tried talking to my cat,; all he did was roll over. At this point I really just want to be left to write and post content in peace. The constant messages over this or that of titles to things just makes me want to stop writing (especially when they're about co-writes that I ended picking up to help one of the original authors after the other one quit). I think from now on though I will keep the messages from editors so I can have evidence of what staff told me before. What bugs me most is that story editors have the power to go in and change my work that I have dedicated hundreds of hours working on and out my heart unchecked. I think the quote "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely", describes what users have been feeling for the past few months.

Whatever Editors change is logged and checked by admin, but you should still message an admin. They need to know when mishaps happen otherwise they won't be able to give reminders out to the Editors of what they change and whatnot. You have to remember that Editors are still humans and we will mess up at times because it's impossible to be perfect at something.

The reason Editors change titles themselves instead of letting the author know is because they might tell an author and that author just point blank ignores them, and of course Editors would have to let a day or so pass to give them time to come on and change it which is a lot more hassle than necessary. You have to remember that you agreed to Editors and Admin being able to change and edit your work like that when you agreed to the ToS when joining.

As for the content of stories, Editors cannot fix that but they are now referring them to the beta readers or letting them know they have to edit their work otherwise it will result in their story being removed from the site until it's done.

I've talked to an admin about it. The main thing that main thing that irritated me about the whole situation is that one title has been changed before. I'm really just over it now.

I dislike the spambots. We need some sort of way to verify humanity (a CAPTCHA specifically) before one can create an account.

This. It hasn't happened for a while, but I used to get so many Tallenge messages and it gets infuriating after a while. Having some way of verifying the people making accounts wouldn't stop all of them, but it'd get rid of a good amount of them!

I just had a story editor tell me to capitalize of and for.
It looks like you misunderstood the editor's message. When editors message users, they include the original title (errors included) in the PM and let the users know that the title has been corrected.

Your original titles had the of and for capitalized, which wasn't correct. When the editor messaged you, your story titles had already been changed to its correct form (with the of and for lowercase), you then changed them back to the incorrect form (with the of and for capitalized). [I'm guessing you did this because you thought the editor was telling you to go edit them yourselves.]

So, for example, if the original title to your story was Taken For House Of Cards, the editors would have changed it to Taken for House of Cards, and you would have received a message to notify you that change was made. The message would have looked something like this:
    Quote
Hello! I'm Audrey T and I'm a story editor here on Mibba. I'm sending you a message to let you know that your story "Taken For House Of Cards" has a capitalization error in the title. Mibba rules state that titles must be properly capitalized (stated here). Not to worry though, I have removed the capitalization error from the title and it is now correct.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact myself or another story editor and we’d be happy to help.
But if a user thinks their story has been incorrectly edited by a story editor, they can definitely talk to the editor about it (just reply to the PM) or message an admin about it.

    * I think the story editor who edited your story messaged you recently to help clear things up. I don't know if you got the message though.

It definitely is not ridicule. It's someone reminding you that they do not wanting you to comment on their blogs.

The sudden posts about slash being stigmatized...like where did that even come from? Slash is pretty popular, but if someone says "no slash please" why in the world would they get offended? We all have different tastes...for the love of air.

Why not privately message a person rather than doing it in public? (Especially when you've already let the person comment on said blog several times...)

    ---

I wish we didn't have to use proper capitalization in blogs. I know that sounds petty, I just wish it were like the 'General' forum where we could be a little more loose.

What if that person does not want to? Ever consider that? I still say it is NOT public ridicule.

"Need I remind you that I asked you not to comment my blogs anymore? Next time you do I will contact an admin,"

I imagine this is said. Still not public ridicule, you seem very bent on making it a serious problem when in reality it isn't. I'm not commenting on your profile because I asked you to do the same, after this comment I'm done. Take it with stride, you don't need to dwell on internet people.

How wacked-out Mibba Mobile is when I try to use it on my phone. It just took me ten attempts to actually load the alerts page and now it won't let me actually click 'view' No

That there's no pop up asking whether or not you want to change from the Mobile Site to the regular site, like something that says "are you sure you want to do this?" and you hit "OK" or "No". Because sometimes I accidentally change it from Mobile to the normal site, then have to wait for the page to load on my iPod/phone before I can hit Mobile Version again, and I know it's not some terribly big deal but I get irritated when it happens v.v

The fact that no one ever wants to admit they're wrong. Ever. Like they ask for concrit but then want to contest what you tell them. Like, no. Sometimes there are discrepancies, but instead of telling someone they perceived something the wrong way, you need to step back and maybe look at your writing to see if you portrayed it the wrong way and that led to them seeing it a certain way. Especially if multiple people are coming up with the same conclusions. Maybe it's you. Also the amount of bad!fic in bandom lately has terrified me. Please let it be a phase. We get so much shit from so many people as it is. Can we not add this? The pretentious remarks we get are already bad enough.

I'd prefer not to have it. I change to the normal site from the Mobile one and I would rather not have to hit an extra button on a popup. (Mostly because I usually get a popup for Mibba every 3 minutes on my tablet telling me to download virus protectors and shit.)

I think there should be a way to select 'always on' or 'always off' with the mobile site, too. That would be nice.

Oh I see how that would be a problem for people if they get popups like that. An "always off/on" selextion would be nice too. Just some way I can keep it so I can stay on the Mobile Site, you know?

The frequency of people copying me and others really grinds my gears. I can't even count the number of times I've posted something on here and had it copied, especially the writing buddies thing I created. I rarely want to post my ideas on here anymore because I know people will just copy them.

I don't like the mindset that's become more and more common on here of "If this is something that I personally don't write or like to read, then it must automatically be garbage," and it's really sad that people are so quick to put down entire genres/pairings/types of writing and make blanket assumptions about things just because it's something they aren't familiar with.

For example, I don't read or write a ton of original fiction, slash, or horror, but I don't assume that a story is shit just because it falls into one of those categories and I don't go around spouting my hatred for those types of stories. I feel like I constantly have to defend the types of stories that I write just because I write what is often deemed as lesser writing or awkward or creepy or whatever, and it's just so exhausting. It's not something I have to do on the other writing sites I cross-post on, and it's pathetic because Mibba is supposed to be this "writing community." I wish people would be a little more open-minded and less trigger-happy to put down anything that isn't something that they personally write.

Back when I started taking my writing seriously on this site, I had the only The Office (US) fanfiction on the site, but I didn't have people bashing the fact that that's what it was in the comments section or any of that nonsense. When I started out, even though it wasn't what was popular and the majority of people that were reviewing my work and helping me with my writing weren't familiar with the fandom, it still got read and people were will to give helpful feedback. I feel like that vibe's gone now.
