People complaining about never getting talked to on here because they aren't apart of the so called "popular" group. I'm sorry but if you sit here and never reach out to people, tons of comments and feedback isn't going to fall out of the sky. Besides, who's to say that so called "popular" people haven't constantly worked hard to get the feedback and attention they get? It's kind of disheartening to see people dumping on "popular" folk and even placing other Mibbians in that stereo type altogether.

What even makes someone "popular" here anyway? The fact that they are well liked or that people have taken the time to give their stories feedback and actually establish a conversation with them? I mean what's wrong with other people liking you, ya know? When did that become such a crime?

I know it can be frustrating when you pour your heart and soul into a story update or blog and no one responds, but we all are fighting for attention and feedback here.

I agree. I think sometimes people try to act like Mibba is high school or something. Either you're "popular" and clearly didn't work hard on your story and everyone just flocks to you, or you're not popular and work "harder" on your stuff because you barely get any comments and users don't comment on your blogs as much as others, and when I see it I just sit there like Facepalm

I came here to write this myself. I honestly don't care about popular, as long as people are honest.
I rarely get comments unless I ask, but that's because people search by tags and genres and I rarely write in the most checked tags and genres. That's okay. My choice.

I guess I'm odd because I just see people here, like each user here as given the equal chance to gain feed back or not or to become well liked. I mean being in a fandom that is well liked gets more attention, but that stuff happens with anything. Some tv shows grab more attention than others. It doesn't mean that all the other tv shows are bad or horrible. It's just what appeals to people's preferences and interests. I honestly don't care about making a "popular"name for myself. I just want to meet new people and make some close friends. We all want our writing to be liked but I'd still continue to write even if no one read my work because writing is what I truly love.

Honestly, when people refer to me as Mibba Famous or some faceless popular Mibbian, it's hard not to take it offensively because it seems like they are acting as if having friends and being active on here is some awful thing. I dunno. I just don't understand people.

Yeah. I'm not concerned with being popular or anything. I just like making friends and talking to people!

Like C418, I was just about to say this so I concur wholeheartedly with you. I always cringe when people bring it up because yeah, people act like it just falls out of the sky or it's going to happen overnight. I mean, I don't think Mibba should be treated like a high school but it's going to happen, it's inevitable. I never want to be rude so I never say anything but it really is just a matter of putting an effort into the site rather than just expecting it.

I agree so much. I have (or I'd like to think I have) a good few friends on here that regularly comment on my stuff and everything like that. Most of those friends I made by hanging around the General forums and trying to make conversation with people. It's about the only way both on here and in real life to make friends and sometimes it's the only way to get feedback on your stuff. The fact that people believe that I just sit behind my computer and watch alerts flood in (which they don't even, I'm kind of exaggerating but oh well) is absolutely hilarious because I busted my ass on the site when I came back a few years back off of my hiatus and that's the only reason I've got a story that has 50+ comments / recs on it. Not because I'm 'famous' in any way.

Honestly, I think the way people see others as 'Mibba famous' is only because those others are visible in a few parts of the site, which goes hand-in-hand with what I said above. I just don't like the idea of people trying to put others down because they maybe have more exposure on the site. Exposure comes with work from the person to begin with anyway.

You are so right and you chose the best word to fit what I was trying to say. "Exposure." That's a perfect word to describe it. I'm only known on this site at all because I post blogs daily, write for the Avenged Sevenfold fandom and because I have a few friends on here that I've made over time. That's it.

Yeah, definitely. It's good you don't say things rude to people. I try not to as well. There's even rudeness in the world already haha.

I don't like how all of the magazine articles say "featured" in front of them. Like I know it's featured. I just think it looks silly to have it in front of every single article. Just saying.

This. I'm getting quite sick of deleting their spam 'stories' only to find that more have appeared by the time I've done that. I really wish we had a CAPTCHA test or something on accounts to catch spammers out.

It's everybody, computers and all. For a short while, I thought it was just our internet but it even happens at work, so it's definitely the site.

I don't like that I'm rarely on here anymore. There'll be short bursts when I'm on everyday for a week or two, then I don't log in for a long time after that, for weeks or even months sometimes.

And also how laggy and slow everything is. Everythings just a mess. Disgust

I wish there was a button that could simultaneously dismiss all your alerts because with the lag it is freaking impossible to dismiss my alerts. They just start building up because it's faster to click on the actual link rather than to view the alert.
