I'm using it on Ubuntu but that shouldn't make much of a difference. Have you downloaded any plugins or brushes for it or did you just try it "naked" straight off the website? xD

What don't you like about GIMP?
I'm just curious because I've been using GIMP for months now and I really prefer it over photoshop.

Also, have you ever tried GIMPshop? it's basically GIMP but alterted to work more like Photoshop. Try googling it if your interested.

^GIMP does not work that well on Mac OS X. I don't know about earlier Mac operating systems, but on Leopard it is very... shit. Photoshop integrates a lot better on newer Macintosh computers.

For example, GIMP will not recognise my Mac fonts. It doesn't even recognise fonts I have downloaded. And yes, I have downloaded and installed them right. GIMP just does not pick them up, so if I use GIMP I have to make do with really shitty default fonts it comes with. In Photoshop I don't have that problem. I don't even have to restart the program after I've installed fonts and brushes; it just adds them automatically. Photoshop is just easier for me to use, and I like the interface better.

Photoshop is a high-end product that is used often in professional environments; GIMP just does not have the professional feel to it, and in the version that is available for Macs, GIMP does not have, say, selective colouring. And it does some of the things Photoshop can do, but to me Photoshop just does them better. I've found the lasso tools are much smoother in PS.

I think I just got so used to Photoshop controls that it's hard to use GIMP. It's difficult to find things T____T I know it's just a matter of practice, I'm just picky. :tehe: Not to mention that some of the tools that I use most often either aren't available or aren't as good in GIMP. The lasso tool is particularly difficult to use in GIMP. D:
Wow I'll definitely check that out, it sounds awesome.

I miss Photoshop so much. T_T XD I used to have 7 on my old computer, and I'd work with CS2 at school. But even at school we've been messing around with Adobe Illustrator instead (which I think fails in comparison to PS. Shifty). I've gotten so good at PS, since I got it last year. :]
Does, uh, anyone know any safe/secure links/torrents for any version of CS? I'm going through withdrawals having to deal with MS paint again. lmfao
