I've lived in the city for years, so when I came back to a small town with less light pollution, I looked up and was like, it's the milky way! because I haven't seen it in so long. I wish I could get a clearer view, though.

One thing I've always wanted to do with my boyfriend is go up to the mountains where there is no light pollution and stare up at all the stars and see the milky way!

Also did anyone else see the meteor shower last night? It was amazing! It's the Perseid Meteor shower, and it's supposed to be the best on the 11th and the 12th!

Dude, I love staring into the night sky. The more you look at it, the more you see, especially if you live out in the country without a bunch of light pollution. If I stare long enough, I feel like I can see more of the universe, see more stars and galaxies. I can almost, almost begin to fathom it's vastness, or at least I can stare more deeply into it than just a cursory glance and in doing so realize how much depth and vastness there is.
I don't know. Maybe I'm just waxing poetic. I think that's why astronomy and to an extent astrophysics is one of my favorite topics to try to study though. It's science, but it hits me on so many other levels. It's very spiritually and intellectually stimulating.
