I love dramas, and I tend to watch them every so often because I feel like I need some kind of interesting, irrelevant activity unrelated school, ever so often. Truth be told, I quite liked Boys Over Flowers. Perhaps if the Korean Boys Over Flowers did suit to your taste, you should go look at Hana Yori Dango; it's the Japanese version of this drama. I have many enjoyed dramas. One of them being 1 Litre of Tears. And bawled my eyes out, if your looking for something to cry to. Mm, Wonderful life is also a very good drama. I quite enjoyed that one. My Lovely Kim Sam Soon, I recently just started watching. X3 I love that one because of the hilarity in it. Also, Anego is another one. Considering I don't have much time to watch much Dramas, I usually stick to movies which are as closely related to a drama there is. :3

If you know chinese, you should watch the Hong Kong drama series (voiced in chinese and not cantonese of course) Can't Buy Me Love.

The drama talks about the Tang Dynasty where the emperor have five spoilt and pampered married princessess. Prince consorts were considered as "gigolos" then because the Tang Princessess dominate over them and frequently verbally or physically abused them. As the third princess, Chiu-Yueng was the most arrogant and obnoxious of all princessess, therefore she had not married. A plot by one of her father's concubines forced her to marry a rich guy, Dor-Luk to avoid marrying off to Tibet (actually I don't really remember, just some barbaric place).

Once she found out that the guy was actually the one that makes fun of her when she sneaked out of the palace and farted in her face, she decided to make the whole family's life miserable. All the while, the first princess hated Chiu-Yueng because she was favoured by their father although she's just a child by her father's commoner mistress and the first princess is the child of the queen, she plotted some kind of evil scheme to frame the guy's family and Chiu-Yueng which could lead to their execution.

In order not to implicate the guy's family (they fell in love... typical), she tried to divorce him.

WOW. I sound like some summary at the back of the DVD's cover.
Anyway, its comedic, exaggerations in some way, romance and schemes all round up together. Check it out sometimes!

By the way, I don't like dramas other than Hong Kong's because the Chinese voice-overs for other dramas are just... well... bad.

The Korean version. So good. I also want to see the other shows of Endless Love (Winter Sonata, Spring Waltz, and Summer Scent).

My grandmother is Korean so when I was little she used to sit with me in her little T.V. room and explain everything to me while I ate her popcorn. <3 I miss the simple things.

My favorite so far is 1st shop of Coffee prince. It has a really nice romance. Then I'm currently watching Goong, it's boring in the first couple episodes but get better later on. Your beautiful and Boys over Flowers are okay, really interesting plots. Personal Preference is really funny too.

I just got into Asian dramas somewhat recently, particularly Korean ones. Boys Over Flowers was my first drama and to be honest, I quit watching it the first episode my first try around. It was extremely corny and I wasn't used to the acting at all. However, I did give it a try again and I fell in love with it because of one of the side plots. I also watched You're Beautiful. It was quite good but it wasn't the best thing out there. There were definitely some funny moments but it never really had me on the edge of my seat to continue.

I don't know if I could pick an absolute favorite, but I really adored Playful Kiss and Shut Up Flower Boy Band. Both of the dramas had me begging for the next episode to come out (or for me to just find a good video with subtitles). I plan on watching Secret Garden or Coffee Prince next. I hear those are really good. I also hear Dream High is great, but I never really got into it yet.

Yes. I'm bringing this back. :P

I love Korean dramas but I hate that many people disregard Japanese dramas completely. Honestly speaking, yes, many Japanese dramas have way too many corny jokes. There are those dramas that are "lazily" made and not of good quality, but when they make dramas seriously, it's way better than Koran dramas.

That's why if anyone wants to watch Boys over Flowers, I suggest you watch the Japanese version "Hana Yori Dango" it's one of the most expensively made drama of Japan. Then there are series like Liar Game and Hana Kimi. Koreans try to remake them, but fail badly.

As for Korean dramas, I'm loving Queen Inhyun's Man. I haven't been able to watch Korean dramas for a long time because it's always unbelievable and depressing, but this series was great!

I never understood why some people are so against dramas other than Korean ones. I have yet to watch one (simply because school doesn't give me time for any dramas lately) but I definitely want to see some. I have personally met some girls or seen people post on sites that they absolutely refuse to watch Japanese dramas. It makes no sense to me.

As I said before, I loved the Korean adaption of Boys Over Flowers. When I found out it was actually a remake of a Japanese version, I was a bit excited. Everyone says the Japanese version is better in a sense. I'm definitely looking forward to watching it when I have time. ^.^

I agree, Japanese drama's shouldn't be so looked down upon >.< I love Korean dramas too but Japanese ones are always a nice change. Honestly, Korean ones are sometimes so similar to each other and cliche, its gets tiring to me.

And Asian dramas aren't just limited to Korean and Japanese! :c There's Taiwanese, Chinese, etc. Try some of those too~ I actually really like Taiwanese dramas. Maybe even more than Korean sometimes! It just takes a while to get used to the language...in fact the Taiwanese REALLY bothered me at one point cause it sounded really..weird xD But the dramas were good so I look past it. But yea, be open to other stuff you guys! :3

I love 18 Censored or Not, and my friend introduced me to a Japanese drama but I can't remember the name. It had a girl going to an all boys school and all I remember was that they had to cook.

I didn't even know this thread existed. This made me smile. Widely.

I haven't been watching dramas for a while now, but I can give a few suggestions. This list may seem a bit bias as I only watch J-doramas.

    - Hana Kimi (it's stupidly hilarious)
    - Honey & Clover (this is a bit slow, but got me teary-eyed at the end)
    - Koizora (sad drama, very short)
    - Maou (detective/thriller drama, different from the normal teen dramas)
    - Nobuta wo Produce (2 guys trying to makeover a bullied girl to becoming more confident)
    - One Pound Gospel (another hilarious drama)
    - Yamada Taro Monogatari (funny, heartwarming drama about a poor kid studying in a rich man's school)
    - One Litre Of Tears (I cried at almost every episode; a real tear-jerker)

These are just a few which I've watched and I kinda remembered them from start to finish. Could be because of the Japanese idols that I've been adoring for years... In Love

My Korean friend loves them. It's hard for me to like them because they're so different from what I'm used to and because they're in Korean. >_< Plus a lot of the ones I've seen are romances and I'm not a fan of romance dramas. I hardly ever write them but I do (sometimes) because that's what the people like.

Random Fact: I can read Korean (in it's symbolic form along with phonetically) but I don't know what the hell it means.

I don't really like watching Korean dramas because mostly I dislike the main girl characters. They always act all cutesy and that just annoys me to no end. Usually it takes me months to finish watching one drama. Like the series You're Beautiful, it took me more that six months to finish watching and I don't think I ever want to watch it again. -_-"

But... I'm definitely a huge fan of Japanese dramas. Some of the dramas I'd watched area:
    Ouran High School Host Club
    One Litre of Tears
    Kurosagi
    Nodame Cantabile
Gokusen (all three seasons including the movie-this is the reason I started falling in love with Japanese drama)
    Yukan Club
    Samurai High School
    Hana Kimi

And there are a lot others but I can't really pick out from my head. And I love watching Hong Kong dramas too, especially the Kung Fu ones. The fighting scene is always so awesome!

I really liked boys over flowers but "You're beautiful" will have to be my favorite :3 I admit it's a little corny but it's cute too <3 I highly recommend it. And if you're into anime, Glass Mask is an excellent choice :P

LOL! Maybe it's just not my cup of tea. I even dislike the Japanese version of the drama, Ikemen Desu Ne even though the lead actor is one of my J-boys crush.
