I also ran into this the other day and it made me cry so hard. It's when they still had Brent even, so it was right in their first 6-months to a year of being discovered.
April 2006, to be more precise. Must have been their first trip to the UK. The recording is actually from a Belgian tv station (TMF is the Belgian MTV). It's so crazy to see this again after all those years, I haven't watched this in ages. Baby Panic!
But honestly, I must say that this is my least favorite cover they ever did. Partly because I love love love Counting Crows and I dislike pretty much every cover of any of their songs. But mostly because I feel like this was too much trying too hard. They've done so much better!
GOING TO SEE THEM LIVE IN BRISTOL LIVE TOMORROW GUYS. GOTTA GET THE TRAIN IN AN HOUR BECAUSE I LIVE SO FAR AWAY SO WE'RE STAYING THERE THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THE NIGHT AFTER. BUT GREHGSDFGHSFEHFED OMGOMGOMGOMG IM SO EXCITED.
For some reason Brendon's immaturity is really annoying me lately. I was watching the recent interview Spencer, Dallon and him did with DecentlyFunny and he just annoys me. I just want him to grow up a little bit. But then I rewatched the videos I made when seeing them in May last year and they still make me smile. I love them onstage, always will. So I do hope to see them onstage sometime again soon.
@voice of the sun: How was it? Hope you had tons of fun!
^It was AMAZING. We were practically on the barrier and right inbetween Dallon and Brendon and they played Time to Dance and at one point Brendon did a backflip and there was shirtlessness and and and fsdgdsgs
In order words, it was astounding.
But, I do agree about the immaturity. If nothing else, he used a transphobic slur and made several comments that could be constituted as racist, and okay, yes, he's human and he's going to fuck up, but when you're in a position where you're influential to a lot of people, you have to at least recognise those fuck ups.
He was called out for it on Twitter and he responded to it with continued immaturity and basically saying "some people can't take a joke," which was... well, pretty shit of him really. Fair enough if he made a faux pas, everybody does, but to not apologise for it like an adult when called out on it? Ehhh, that doesn't put anybody in my good books.
The transphobic slur especially, I know several people online and off who are transgender and also massive panic! fans, so that dug at them quite a lot. No one is expecting him to be perfect, and I get that there's a lot of ignorance surrounding that subject and people do say offensive things without realising how offensive they're being, but the point is that somebody called him out on it and he still didn't apologise for it.
So I enjoyed the show a lot, yeah, but knowing some of the shit he'd said did dampen the edges of it for me a bit.
^ I'm still sad sometimes that they're not together anymore. But if they would get back together or if they would still be together they would probably make more TYV-like music. And if I'd have to choose between the Pretty. Odd.-Panic and the new Panic, I'd choose the new Panic. I like Pretty. Odd. and I like V&V, but I like AFYCSO better. And I don't think that's ever comming back, even if they would get back together.. It's still sad tho :\
I just looked at the pictures I took when I saw them in Amsterdam and Cologne and I miss them. They have to come back to The Netherlands or Belgium soon. I get all fangirlie when I watch those pictures. I will never stop loving them. 10 years from now, I'll still be front row screaming my lungs out and singing along to every song. When I think about the times I saw them I feel so lucky. I have a picture with Zack, autographs from Brendon, Spencer, Ian and Dallon and I have picks from Brendon, Ian and Dallon. I even got a towwel, I don't think it was used by any of them, but I'm so happy about it. I will always love Panic! and deep inside I'll always be a screaming fangirl :D
They were the first band I ever had THAT feeling about. They will ALWAYS hold a special spot in my heart: no matter WHAT the sound like or who's in the band.
Everyone's saying its a mainstream-sounding song, but I think it sounds really cool. It's been stuck in my head for a while now, so much so that when I woke up today I could only hear "But I love her anyway". I think Miss Jackson is very good.
Mainstream or not, it's their choice not ours. But I like it. I think it's a good mix of a couple of genres, so. Just wish there was more of Spencer in the video.....
