The book 'A Certain Slant of Light' made me want to start writing. It's about these two adult ghosts who take over the bodies of teenagers and fall in love, it's hard to explain but it's so beautiful. In Love
Awww, I love that one! :D

The book that made me want to write was probably Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Foer. The effect that book had on me is just... amazing. I love his style of writing, how it's so informal and approachable yet awe-inspiring all at once.

That and the Phantom Stallion series. My first stories were horse adventures. File Cute

I may sound a bit strange now, but William Shakespeare influenced me - I was reading his play Macbeth for English and then I read Romeo and Juliet, both in the old English form. I was transfixed with the sorrow and pain he brought through in his plays. Then I became obssesed with Harry Potter and Twilight - both different styles, both wonderful series. They got me thinking, what if?
What if Harry wasn't the good guy? what if he turned bad? what if Edward let Bella turn when James bit her? what if Bella picked Jacob over Edward?
Then i started re-writing certain chapters of the series, started then focusing on the charactors in the book that didn't have enough 'play' in the book. Embry Call from Twilight, Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter.

i wasnt started out by reading a book, even though ive loved, read and been inspired by mannny mannny books starting ever since i could read. i want to be a writer because i wrote a cheesy poem in year 7 and it irritated the shit out of me.
it was horrible, and the rhymes expecially offended me. like...
hand and stand, friends and end etc. so i decided that i was going to do better and spent six months trying to think of decent rhymes that werent the usual doggerel... it really started a passion to write well, and my love of song lyrics kinda intensified it and gave me a genre to explore, which lead to poetry and then too short story. and maybe one day ill get to where i want to be :D practice makes perfect XD

for me, it was Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marilier

She's my absolute favorite author. her writing is something i think i'll aspire to for the rest of my life and never be able to live up to. there's something about her way with words, and about her characters and plot. i'll try to describe it:

her style is one of a kind- she writes eloquently, but simply and amazingly not awkward in any way. her main characters are strong, but realistically flawed--- they also have impeccable morals. they're the kind of characters that inspire you to improve yourself. as for the plots..well, that's enough said. simply amazing.

The book called The Outsiders actually made me want to be a writer. It really influenced me in alot of aspects in my life because it was so easy to relate to and the author was amazing. She actually wrote it as a teenager and it made me decided I could write books too.

I don't really want to be a writer, as in, I really want to write for living, I'm more into psychology but I would like to leave a book or two behind and it's probably because of 1984 by George Orwell. That book left my speechless, I still can't believe someone can write something as good as that book.

In seventh grade I was reading some of Edgar Allan Poe's stuff for class work, I think he was the one who influenced me to start writing - not like essays, but stories and poems. I just love his work and his writing style.

Although, to be honest, I've always wanted to be a writer it's always been a dream job of mine, I think when I read his work it somehow motivated me - if that makes sense.

Harry Potter. But probably what was more influential was the Thoroughbred series, created by Joanna Campbell. They are totally trashy horse books but man, I loved them. It was because of them that I started to actually write novels, even if my story lines were pretty much the same as in those books but adapted so it was set in Australia. XD

I think a good majority of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman novels from the Dragonlance series inspired me to write.

The first thing I ever wrote was my "fictional diary," where I wrote about my life, but with mystical things going on around me. I was...eight? Then, I think what inspired me were cartoons and television shows at the time.

The first book I was conscious of writing was something called "Luna Cycle," and it was basically a rip from the show Inuyasha that STILL comes on Adult Swim. But again, that was based off a TV show, and I was twelve.

Then, I wrote a book that didn't have a title, but it was about shapeshifters who had the powers of fire and water, and THAT was inspired because of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes's book "Hawksong."

But the books that made me want to be a writer were the things we were assigned in English class, because I knew I could write better.

If I had to choose the book that makes me want to be a writer NOW, it would have to be "The Shadow of the Wind," by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. His writing is beautiful and it makes me want to be a better writer.

I suppose I'm competitive like that.

actually, for me it wasn't a book. Some mean girl at school(we in like 6th grade) wrote somethng about me in the bathroom. So to get her back, I wrote a story about her called "What Happens When You Mess With Thorntown Reader." because I didn't want to point out who it was about. I portrayed the "good girl", Thorntown. She portrayed the school slut, Mindi Logan. It was set in 2014 or our senior year.

But the book that got me started writing FANFICTION was Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix(sp?). I was obsessed with Harry Potter. Now I've moved to bands and all of that.

    Soo yea..

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland initiated my love for writing; then anything by Chuck Palahniuk inspires me and makes me want to write more and more.

2 things made me want to write. XD
the Gingerbread series just because the humour and the heavy influence of music and the lighthearted attitude really fit me as a time and I could easily relate to it.

and V for Vendetta. Alan Moore is seriously incredible. He's the only man I know where the intro to his graphic novel inspired me to write. Twitch Hail
