I don't remember. I started writing stories when I learned how to write, and I started telling stories when I was three. I've always wanted to be a writer, even when I didn't know what a writer was.

The book, "The Heart is the loneliest Hunter" has really inspired my latest novel though.

I've wanted to write for as long as I can remember. I don't think a book necessarily made me want to be a writer, but a lot of books have severely affected my writing style.
    • Anything Stephen King [Salem's Lot and Rose Madder being stand outs]
    • Glamorama and Imperial Bedrooms by Brent Easton Ellis
    • The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks
    • The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
    • Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
    • Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling [Probably the first book do have any major affect on my writing]

I don't really remember a specific book that made me want to be a writer, but the Harry Potter books made me realise what kind of writer I wanted to be. I want to write characters that people care about, I want to write books that people love and will read more than once, that people will talk about and have debates over and all kinds of things. tehe

Um....I would have to say just reading anything I could get my hands on mixed with an overactive imagination and some terrible books that made me say: I can write better than this.

I can't remember--I think I first wanted to be a writer when I was barely above the stage of picture books. However, I think when I read Harry Potter, aged seven, I loved the books so much that they really inspired me to start writing a little more seriously.
As for the books I've written in the last couple of years, I guess they've been inspired by things including The Lord of the Rings, The Knife of Never Letting Go (and the sequels), and the House of Night books to some extent

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer because I was a noob.

And believe it or not, my first story I ever wrote was a vampire romance.

I would have to say the book/s that inspired me to write were the Lioness Rampant series by Tamora Pierce. Of the four of those I would probably pick Woman Who Rides Like a Man.
She just created such an incredible world I could escape to, I wanted to make a little world of my own like that where maybe other people could escape to one day.

For me, it was the Protector of the Small quartet, especially Squire, but all of Tamora Pierce's books really inspired me.

The first Harry Potter book. I read it when I was in second grade and started jotting down short stories in all my school notebooks.

The ones with the most influence on my writing are probably Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.

Anything by Jodi Picoult, before I read enough of her novels to be able to predict each event chapters before it happened.
The Inheritance cycle, because he was so young when Eragon was written.

I think I've posted here before, but things have changed.

I'm sure the first book that made me want to be a writer was Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. But recently I've been thinking about what is influencing me now. I've always wanted to be a published author, but I don't think I've ever taken it very seriously until a few months ago.

So the book(s) that made me want to be an author have to be the Harry Potter series and the unreleased The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (there has been a lot of talk in the nerdfighter community, and even though I'm not sure what it's about, it makes me want to be a serious writer).

actually in 3rd grade our teacher made us write and everyone thought i was good and liked my story so technically a book didn't make me be a writer but my 3rd grade teacher.

I guess it was Twilight. It was the first book I ever read...

What's funny, though, is that the first book I ever started writing had nothing to do with Vampires. It wasn't even a Romance. LOL.

But, what really made me want to get published was how I realized how much fun I was having, and how everyone always commented on how good I was. Very Happy Then I read how Stephenie Meyer's first book was Twilight, and that did so well.

A Little Princess and To Kill A Mockingbird started me wanting to write. So I did :) but I wrote in private and never let anyone read anything. Then I read a book, If I Stay by Gayle Forman...changed my mindset completely. I wanted to at least try to make people feel what I felt while reading that book. I strongly recomend it :)
