My personal favorite character I've created is Dallas, an 18 year old Goth guy who is being stalked by an unstable woman (Lisa, the main character) who is sexually obsessed with him.

I personally HATE it when people make their Goth characters whiney, depressed social rejects (most Goths in real life are NOTHING like that), so I really tried to avoid every negative Goth stereotype.

Dallas is friendly, very observational, and mildly autistic. He's also asexual, and has no romantic or sexual feelings towards Lisa. He's naive and trusts people way too easily, which leads to his death. Lisa goes psychopathic on him and shoots him 5 times. She puts a bullet in his left knee, one in his right arm, two in his stomach, and finally puts one in his head.

I haven't written that scene yet, but it's the part that really lets readers know how psychotic and unstable Lisa is.

The more I work on these two stories, the more attached I've become to my two newest child characters, Mason and Harper.

Mason is from my Moonshiners fanfiction, At the Bottom of This Mason Jar, and he's so fun to write because he's just this rambunctious, rough-and-tumble, five-year-old little boy who's in a situation he can't control and stuck in between his two stubborn-as-hell parents.

Harper's from my Big Time Rush/Supernatural crossover, Chasing Daylight, and even though she's out-of-the-picture/in danger for the majority of the story, her presence and effect on people is still very much strong in the piece, and that's definitely interesting to write. Plus, the character's inspired by the three-year-old I babysit, and she's so adorable that it makes my ovaries and uterus explode XD

    I loved Corey Collier.
He was the first sci-fi character I wrote, and I'm working on reviving him with a new story, Little One.
He was such a stuffy, snobby, annoyingly smart prick of a man and I loved him.

I adore Jessica. She doesn't have a last name but that's okay because she's just perfect. In Love Not in a Mary Sue sense, but I still love her.

Right now, Alana from Who Knows, Who Cares is kinda like my child. I'm not even sure why - I've never really been in her shoes and we're not even that similar as people. She's just a very driven person and she's so laid-back, and when she finally gets the chance to put herself first, she does - and that's huge for her. Alana and her story were written during a few really great times of my life, so I think I'll always have that kind of positive association too, haha.

I've become inexplicably attached to Daniel Taubenfeld of Blood Relations. By all rights he is my worst, most repulsive character to date, but his dialogue is just so much fun.

Oh Addie (The F-ckers), easily. She's hurting. I want to make the hurt go away. Even when I'm not actively writing that story, I think about her pain. It kills me.

The whole cast of Obedear? lmfao I've always had an attachment to Jaxon (just because I love my melodramatic & sarcastic child), but after a lot of rough drafts, I think I'm equally as attached to Venus, Aislinn and Derek.

I'm definitely attached to Tate in How It Came to Be, even though I haven't updated it in a long time. I spent so much time with that story both in planning and writing/rewriting that I love him to death. He's confused and scared constantly and he needs a hug.

Atticus from my Trouble-Maker series is definitely my favorite. She started off as a strong character but also was willing to bend to help her family. She deals with a lot of pressure from so many directions and while she's had her weak and whiny moments, she's growing into a much more capable person. There's so much about her that's complex and thoughtful.

My attachments to characters tends to vary. It's usually my most developed characters that I end up forming a bond with. Some of those characters are:

Lily from I'm Not a Child, Not Yet an Adult
Alana from When Christmas Comes to Town (story under development)
Shauna from Part of Your World
    Olivia from The Voice Within

Those are the characters I seem to adore the most out of all my others. ^^

I'm most attached to Wes from The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. He's so dreamy and mysterious and I love wounded artist characters. He is also a delinquent who remade himself into an artist after prison. I love that he didn't want to be bad. And now he is telling his story with his art. He is gentle and kind and reserved until you get closer. I wish I could meet him but I also feel like I have spent many times with him because he is real to me.

Oh! I didn't realise we were choosing from our own characters. As for our own characters, I'm most attached to all my protagonists... but especially Yami and Ouen from my story Passion Palace / Just a Kiss - I love how moody and stubborn Yami is and how she refuses to give up on her view and dreams. Ouen is just so straight forward but also mysterious at the same time. I love how much he tries and how selfless he is but he comes across as a little arrogant, narcissistic and shallow on the surface. But deep down he cares so much and is so devoted to his work and helping others. I'm a sucker for the "tough guys" who are soft on the inside.
Also: Esmé, Demeter Darren in my story Before The Night's Out and Carry Me Home. They are real to me. I created these characters 10+ years ago, so I feel like we have spent so much time together and their story and lives feel so real to me and full of emotions and I am excited to tell it. Esmé is a little deluded in a romantic way but it's her coping mechanism, I've been there and sometimes I still go there so I really enjoy weaving her subtle unreliable narrator traits into the story as she slowly discovers how naive she is and that people and situations are often not what they seem to her. Dem is schizophrenic and because my dad is possibly undiagnosed schizophrenic in denial, I have experience and I know how frustrating it is wanting to help and you can't and also for him wanting to be a good friend and father but he always messes up and is in denial of the bad things or strange things he has done or said. Dem's personality is different from my dad, but I love him because I want him to get better at coping and I am proud of him for chasing his dreams and making so many of the other characters smile and laugh and feel happy. He is a truly unique boy with a big heart.
Darren is so honest and trustworthy and he is like a guardian angel to all the characters and to me. He is the kind of friend I wish I had, he is also creative and sometimes morally grey but deep down he always has a good head on things, he is also Christian which is unusual because he is my only religious character. I was christened and went to Christian school in England all my life but I am actually buddhist / spiritualist - one of the many reasons why I now live in Japan.
