I don't really read a lot of books anymore, but my favorite character of all time would have to be Rose from the Vampire Academy. She is the only character that never annoyed me. I like how she can kick major butts and she just has this headstrong personality. She is also brave, loyal and not afraid of expressing herself with colorful languages. Haha

    @ winterfell.
Another from the Vampire Academy series I enjoyed was Mason. A cute, spirited red-headed boy. He was adorable up until his death. Even after death. I miss him :(

It's really hard to pick one. I'm going to say Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. She is true to herself and a genuinely good person. Not only do i love her for that but because of how she brings out positive changes in others, like Harry being more considerate and challenging Hermione on always being right.

I also love Alanna from The Song of the Lioness quartet. She's a female who hides her sexual to become a night and then becomes the first female King's Champion in a century. Besides the obvious way she challenges stereotypes, she has relationships and sex with more than one man and she flat out calls the first dude out on his presumption she would marry him.

My favorite book character, right now, is probably James Stark/Sandman Slim. He is such an impossible person. Half the time I want to slap some sense into him and half the time I just want to rock him to sleep like a baby.

My favorite book character(s) are probably Emmett and Alice Cullen. I'm not the biggest fan of Twilight anymore, but when I think of book characters, they really stand out.

    Harry Potter: Sirius Black
The Hunger Games: Gale Hawthorne and Haymitch Abernathy. There's a lot of hate for Gale and it ticks me off.
Anita Blake: Anita, Edward, and Micah

Sirius Black, Hagrid, Remus Lupin, and Tonks from Harry Potter are all awesome to me. tehe But my all-time favorite book character is probably Asa from What Hearts, probably because I read that book at a pivotal time in my life and the whole thing just struck a chord with me.

Dude I loved Evanjalin from Finnikin of the Rock. Cheese She was so layered and well-thought out. You slowly learned more about her over time and that was such a strategic technique in the book, and in the end ended up being completely different than she seemed. Plus she was a badass female character in control of all the males and well, I'm into that. <3

One book I'm fucking engrossed with right now is White Oleander by Janet Fitch. In this book we have Ingrid-- a goddess carrying Hellfire and brimstone, the kind of female character that leaves me breathless with her sharp ferocity and wit. I have this thing for mother characters. I already love female characters, but damn-- if you're a mother, and you're a tad bit off the rockers, then you've got me hooked.

White Oleander is told from the perspective of the daughter, Astrid. I relate to her a lot, since I was the boy who observed too keenly, and thought too deeply at that young age-- which can do more harm than good at times. I was also very close to my mother, but it wasn't until I grew older that I realized some of the things she did/said have manipulative intent. The catch? It was all out of love. She was trying to teach me how to guard my heart, how to be preemptive in nature to prevent anyone from fucking me over as they did with her. (Except now, although I may understand where she was coming from, and what she was trying to do, I don't completely agree with most of it).

I respect any writer who dares to challenge the fine line between 'love' and 'obsession' as Fitch does. The story revolves around Astrid's dynamic with her mother after she's sent to jail. And just to leave one of my favorite quotes from Ingrid here when she's writing a letter response to her daughter who wants Ingrid to convert:

"Don't you dare ask me to accept Jesus as my savior, wash my soul in the Blood of the Lamb. Don't even think about trying to redeem me. I regret NOTHING. No woman with any self-respect would have done less." - White Oleander, Fitch

Or long story short, what a badass.

Adrian Ivashkov from the Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series. Also, Sydney Sage from both series as well :)
