    @ Jenna's a cutter.
I can appreciate that. I do not like guns myself. But I think it's nice that kds who will shoot guns are given safety training rather than no training.

True. If I ever got into a situation to whereas I had to fire a gun, I'd certainly rather be educated.

But, I probably wouldn't be able to touch the gun.

I kind of have a fear of them...

Gun crime is rarely heard of here in the UK. Maybe America could learn a thing or two.

Living in the United States, our lack of gun control is very disappointing and I hope with Biden's new presidency, he can resolve this issue.

In 2020, since almost everything was shut down with the pandemic going on, I noticed that there were fewer shootings going on (or at least, reported on the news). I just thought to myself, "Damn, it took a pandemic to keep us in to have fewer school shootings?" I think that was probably the only thing I'm grateful for from COVID, since at least most kids were doing school online. But now, here in 2021, and with things starting to "get back to normal" and it's not so restricted, gun violence has been occurring a lot more frequently again. Although now, unfortunately, these shootings have been hate crimes toward Asian Americans in our communities.

I think there needs to be gun control. I live in a state where a lot of people have guns, for hunting or whatever – so this topic gets very "controversial" for my Facebook friends lmao. But I think they mistake my idea for what I think gun control would be with, "Y'all can't take my guns away, yee yee, this is America, it's my Second Amendment as a god damn American, yee haw."

I see gun control not about take the guns away from every single American. Because let's be real, it would be unrealistic for the government to just show up to everyone's homes and search for guns and shit. But it's just about putting more regulations to not make these things so easily accessible. My local Walmart has a small section for guns and I just went up to them, and the guy didn't even ask me for a license or anything. Now, I'm not saying all Walmarts or gun sellers are like that, but it's just an example that someone like me (a dumbass who is mildly afraid of the dark) can get one. So it's like if I can get one, so can someone who is filled with anger and is planning to kill people.

If I remember correctly, though I'm being totally authentic in my own ignorance, Japan has it where you have to take all these tests and psychological evaluations. Just basically, in order to obtain a license, the process is very long and drawn out. People even sometimes give up getting one midway most of the time, because it's just a long process. But hey, they have their shit together and have fewer shootings than us, so good for them! I think the US should have a similar process, especially since gun violence is a huge problem in the country.

My problem also with gun violence in the US is that the media is quick to portray these shooters with mental health issues. Or this shooter awhile back that killed in Atlanta in a spa, which was clearly a hate crime against Asian Americans, they're quick to excuse it not as a hate crime but rather that he had a "porn addiction." This tends to happen more with white shooters. And I just get so pissed off, because it makes people with mental health issues look bad. I have depression and anxiety, but I'm not someone who feels the need to kill innocent people when I get into one of my moods. So don't lump me and my health issues with a heartless, spineless criminal. Just call it what it is – he's a racist asshole who was targeting Asian Americans. Stop with this, "he was just a troubled boy," "his neighbor from 2003 remembered him as a nice boy when he was 3," etc.

Especially with law enforcement. I think our government should stop funding so much for police to get all these fucking weapons. Like recently in the news, you have a cop who killed a black man. She claims she thought it was her taser, but it's like, how can you mix those two things up like that? I think cops just shouldn't just easily have guns either, it should be a drawn-out process of tests and evaluations, especially since these people that are essentially working to protect us are out here killing innocent minorities over fucking gum or some shit. Yeah, they should have guns I guess, for if they're in a situation that goes wrong, but I just strongly feel that using your gun shouldn't be your first idea to resolve an issue.

Anyway, long story short, lmao: The US should have stricter gun control laws in order to not make them so easily accessible to Americans due to the amount of gun violence we have with our citizens and law enforcement.
