    oh my........let's seeeeee....
Almost all my characters from As The Sister of Harry Potter have been developing in my head since I was like...8.
But other than that, the plot dictates my characters and most of their personalities. Sometimes, my characters are personifications of my friends or people I really hate.

My characters are strange to me.
They're strange work of arts. Those characters.
Usually, not always, they aren't from anyone I know. They just are there...at the back of my mind begging me to write them in somewhere.
They come at me full-force, already made, and ready to take on the world.
They're strange work of arts. Those characters. Wink

My characters are pretty much based off myself attitude wise. Their life experiences also come from what I grew up with. Each character represents a different feeling eventhough most of them are the same. In other words, they're already their and created I just have to put my pen on the paper and write.

From everything I see and everyone I meet. I'm so easily inspired by almost anything. Everyone is my muse. The past, the present, the future. The could'ves, should'ves, would'ves. The old, the new. My friends, my family, my enemies, my acquaintances. My character's are created in the world and then come to life in my imagination. :)

Some of them (mostly the antagonists) come from people in my life that I know. And it usually isn't one person, but a mixture of people. I must admit though that one of my character in Extranormal was influenced by a character in another story I've read.

Same here. I've met some... interesting people... Shifty

I seriously don't know where some of my characters come from. Like Anette Baker. She was just like "POOF I'M HERE" in my head xD

I remember one day a story concept appeared in my head, and the characters just sort of...followed. So, I guess my characters come when I've developed an idea for a story. But when I'm in a mood, sometimes a character just pops in and says "Please write my story!"

Riley Johnston of The Mighty Mosh came from this kid who rode my bus in ninth grade. I saw him and instantly came up with a character concept. That actually happens a lot with my characters, like with Brendan Veins of Renny Boy and Ethan Endemein of Spin.

But a lot of them are either mixtures of different people I know, or are partially lifted from my own personality and imagination. Olli Lolli and Justin Bryant of Lukey Kid are both heavily inspired by certain family members of mine, while Soria Atkinson of Renny Boy and Doug Tater from Bus are mostly based off of myself.

In a story of mine called Boy, the main character, Haley, is based off myself, only very slightly, and the antagonist, Boy, is based off the negative parts I hate about myself. Also in that story, Betsy, Haley's boss, is formed from some unpleasant teachers and students I've met at my school.

Escaping Reality has four main characters with tiny traits that I possess in each of them. Avalon is naive, and I used to be like her when I was a few years younger. Zindra comes from a strict family, and I got that situation now. Willow is a happy child but has an underlying issue on the inside and Harley is a fighter.

Usually my characters are the combinations of three things.
One, my own personalty traits. Like, he/she will have one of my traits, like stuttering or being shy.
Two, the personality traits of people in my life (especially the people I like). Like, he/she will have several traits from a bunch of my friends. Such as talkative and confident.
Three, random traits that I just pick up out of no-where.

My main characters usually just form out of the plot and then develop constantly as I write the story. Often, if there is a character, normally a girl, who I am particularly attached to, then I will putt some of my personality traits - good and bad - into her.

As for the smaller characters, I often get them from a combination of people I know, people from TV/books/etc, and the plotline (such as if I need a chatty person or a rebellious person or something to fit the storyline then I will mould them around that idea).

My characters are based on the story plot. When I write a story, I usually want it to have a meaningful plot and not just a story written for ones entertainment. I like to send messages. So my characters don't make the story, my story makes the characters.

It all usually starts with a name. The name sort of lodges itself into my mind and then the story comes and it's like I already know everything about this person. Most of the time I don't write them down. They just linger in my mind.

Usually from pacing or waiting for TS3 to load. They pop into my head half-formed and I go from there. Plots are harder.

Well, I got my favourite character out of an image of what I have always wanted to be, both with her characteristics and appearance :) Not an actual image, more of a mental image. That's why I love my character so much. But I get my others from real-life scenarios or books...

My characters are either one of the following:

-People I wish I could be
    -People I wish I knew

They're just personified ideas that I think would make my life more interesting.

My characters come from their names. I love looking at names, so I start writing and they soon develop a whole personality just out of a random name I've given them. I have started realising that some characters have personality traits that I have myself, but I keep hidden (for example, in my new story, one of the main characters is really determined. Also bossy Wink)
I love making up characters. It's just the plot which is tricky

It sounds a bit creepy, but there's always a little voice right there in my ear, that tells me things. It tells me my story plots and character ideas and it tells me everything.
I rely on that little voice, though I have no idea what it is Unsure

I got Max Ferdinand of Spin waaaay back when in fifth grade, largely inspired by Maxwell Atoms and his art. Even though he's changed so much in his 5-6 year lifespan, at heart, he's still the same temperamental dude with the darkest sense of humor.
