All About Sex

My boyfriend wants me to write him some smut.

I've never completed and posted PWP or anything overtly sexual (thus never getting feedback for this sort of writing), but I've read a lot so I know a bit about the terminology and stuff like that...

I'd really appreciate any tips that would be useful... like, DOs and DON'Ts, particularly bearing in mind that I'll be showing this to my boyfriend (I want to make him horny but don't want to be unnecessarily graphic).

Also, the majority of smut I've read has been slash. In fact, I only recall reading het a few times, all of which ranged from abysmal to mediocre in terms of writing quality. So, with that being said, links to some well-written het would be appreciated too.

Agreed. Even when I write it I have to put something in there to make it not so vanilla. Like a little dirty talk or accidental hair-pulling or a cockslut character.

I'll usually just imply that sex happened. And most of my one-shots are sort of moment in time, so they'll generally take place just before or just after sex has happened. I used to write sex scenes a lot, but I don't know, I don't enjoy writing them anymore.

I don't even have to be in the mood. I just love writing them. Now for really dirty, kinky, raunchy shit I have to be in the mood. But for "relatively" vanilla sex, I don't have to be in any sort of particular mood because that sort of sex, for me, is almost the same as having a conversation, just with less dialogue.

I love how you phrased that. For me it really depends on the music. Like if the music playing sounds hip swaying enough, it'll appear on my screen. Like my recent Ryden was all based on repeatedly listening to She Wants to Move by N.E.R.D & my fascination with spanking.

I don't know, for me with fics sex usually has to occur right after dancing & hearing some good music.

I just pretty much consistently have sex on the brain. I think that might relate to it. Let's say I'm awake 16 hours in a day. I probably think about sex for a total of 14 hours. Not even perverse sexual ~fantasies, just fleeting thoughts about sex. I talk to myself constantly and it is not at all uncommon for me to say some random dirty talk line to myself or to simply imagine Brendon telling Ryan to bend over and take it.

I only talk to myself when I'm confused on how a sentence of dialogue should be phrased or I'm looking for my mother.

Sex isn't on my brain that often, yet music smacks it right in there. Maybe I just want to have sex with music. Music just leads to someone dancing & from dancing comes hip movement & from hip movement comes the "Do you wanna head back to mine?" question. It's all in the hips!

My characters are almost always in relationships or "relationships" when they fuck so that could also be different. I don't have to have any precursor or backstory or reason why. Getting people to the point where they fuck can be more difficult.

^I never start with alreadt set in relationships. I love that build up & than having them get together so they can fuck. That & I adore one night stand situations. You fuck them once & you're done.

I love established relationships. The majority of my fics, sexual or not, are established relationships. It just doesn't interest me when people get together. I want to see them stay together or be together or end up not being able to be together. I feel so cynical saying that.

^It's like watching the 2nd season of novela where the first ended with them getting together, but now they have to stay together. Yet, we all know some shit is gonna go down & a baby is going to get stolen.
