So I was curious to hear about other peoples phobias. Basically your going to state your age, gender, phobia (with definition) and how it effects you. I will start with mine so you have an idea on how I want you to set it up.

    philematophobia- fear of kissing
I happen to have this phobia and it sucks. Talking about it or seeing it doesn't bother me so much but anytime some one trys to kiss me I freeze up and stop breathing for a minute or so or I start bawling, sometimes I get super sick. It sucks cause it truly effects my relationships, i mean other sexual stuff doesn't bother me at all so I guess thats a plus but kissing is important to people. Basically I feel terrible about not being able to give that to my boyfriend.

If you don't want to tell about you phobia or don't have one to share you can comment but be nice. Nyam

    Coulophobia--Fear of clowns
This fear affects me pretty badly. It started when I was really little, and my Dad was watching Beetlejuice with me. I've been terrified of clowns ever since. It's been so bad to the point where I ran out of school once when we were watching It in band, and I almost got suspended until my parents explained that I'm deathly afraid of clowns. I can't go to circuses, I'll start crying if I see a clown of any kind on a TV Commercial (Jack in The Box's clown included). It's horrible, and it affects me a lot.

    Arachnophobia--Fear of spiders
This fear is intense to me. I don't really remember how old I was when it started, but when I was in elementary school, there was a assembly that had animals in it, and there were tarantulas. They ended up getting tangled in my hair, and it took 3-4 hours to get them out. I once ran outside nearly naked in the middle of winter because I saw a spider in the house, and the closest door out was the door to the backyard. I also walked out of the bathroom in just a towel because there was a huge black spider in the shower, and there were friends of my parents over. Before I'll sit down, eat, go to the bathroom, sleep, do anything at all, I have to do a spider search; including look under the table in case their crawling underneath it. :( It sucks.

I never liked spiders. I always thought they were creepy and scary. My best friend is worse though, she can't even watch a spider on television.

    Aichmophobia
    Fear of needles
Even on TV I hate them. It makes me shrivel into myself, shiver, clutch the part on my arm where I'd get injections. Even saying this I have to make sure not to reaaally think about it. I'm not scared of it hurting, it's the actual needle and they way it kind of... sinks in.

    Also...
I'm not sure what this is called but I'm afraid of sitting in buses or trains (anything a bit like that but strangely not planes) and facing a seat in front of me. It's sort of a strange twist on claustrophobia. I just hate sitting on a bus and having another seat, right in front of my face and so near to me. I always make sure I'm at the middle of the back, slightly higher up than the seat or front, or if I really have to, sitting in an aisle seat but facing into the aisle.

    Aichmophobia (fear of needles)
Like MyNameIsBob said, it's not the pain... it's the thought of that long thin stick of metal sliding through my flesh. Can't stand watching it, thinking about it, imagining the feeling...

    Decidophobia (fear of making decisions)
I can't make decisions. It freaks me out, because of the possibilities. And I hate thinking that I need other people to help me out, or give a push in the right direction. You should've seen me when it came to what university I want to go to.

    I don't think it has a name...
I'm terrified of white vans. No matter who I'm with, they scare me so much. If I'm closest to the van, I go on the other side of the person or if I'm alone, I move as far away from it and don't look up. No problem watching it on the TV, though. I just...ugh. I cannot STAND white vans. Ew.

    Snakephobia - the fear snakes.
I can freak myself out by just thinking about snakes. I can't stand anything that looks remotely like a snake, like the rubber ones. Earthworms make me uneasy because I think of snakes. I've come to the point where I can stand looking at them from a distance with a barrier separating us. I've always hated them and the fear grew after too many traumatic experiences.

Glossophobia - fear of public speaking.
Mine is to the point I have to take Ativan before I go in front of a class. I sound like I'm about to cry, paranoid that people are judging me, and anxiety attacks. It's horrible because I'm taking Psychology class right now and I want to be a Psychologist when I am older, but I know that I won't be able to do it because of this fear.

Also, I have a fear of all parasites that could enter my body. Things like lice, tapeworms, etc. It makes me itchy and I have to go take a bath where I will scrub myself raw. I'll do the treatments and still worry.

People usually don't use the term phobia any more, unless you went to med school during the 1980s.

Claustrophobia- fear of small spaces or the feeling or being trapped.
most of the time when i tell people i'm claustrophobic, they crowd me and ask if they're making me claustrophobic. #1. not funny -.- #2 what they dont understand is the second half of claustrophobia which is fear of FEELING TRAPPED. thats me. i cant for the ife of me go in elevators cause i'm afraid they'll get stuck. if the choice was 50 floors on an elevator or up the stairs, stairs would win, hands down.

    Necrophobic- fear of death
ITS DIFFERENT THAN NECROPHILIA. just putting that out there for those of us who were just about to be real smart asses.
death seriously scares the shit outta me. mostly cause i dont know what to expect. its... well, its scary beyond all reason. whenever i think about it, my vision black over and i feel like i'm trapped inside myself and cant breathe. and unless someone touches me to snap me out of it, it takes a good while for me to come-to. and when i do, i realize i've been hyperventilating and crying at the same time without even knowing it. i really dont know what to do about it... i dont see how death could get any less scary...

Remember that phobias aren't just every fear you have. Phobias are a severe mental disorder that result in an irrational fear of something to the point where you will go to nearly any lengths to avoid it.

    Anyway...

    23
    Male
Agoraphobia - Fear of Embarrasment or losing control. Specifically, I have an overwhelming fear of embarrassing myself. I won't knock on someone's door unless they have already invited me into their house (I might have gotten the address wrong...); I won't call a number until that person has called me from that number (what if I put it in wrong?); I think you get the idea.

Funny thing, though, is that I am also an extreme extrovert. I have no problem pulling the spotlight to myself and making a complete fool while everyone watches. I still haven't quite figured out where the distinction lies (probably in my control of the situation, but not entirely certain).

aichmophobia - fear of needles - started when i saw my grandmom, and ex babysitter give themselves their insulin. Kinda freaked me out. Also doesnt help that i got kinda sick and needed some blood work done.

arachnophobia - fear of spiders - weird for such a dark tom-boyish girl to be afarid of spiders. dead animals and blood ect. doesnt bother me, but show me a spider and i scream and jump onto the nearest chair, refusing to comedown until someone kills it.

yeah, im not scared of much, but those things downright make me wanna CRY!

and, hehe, i know i shouldnt because its wrong, but i use this against one of my friends ALL the time. he has telephonophobia - fear of telephones hehe

    Megalophobia -
Megalophobia can be generally defined as the fear of large objects. This fear may be specific to large animals, ships or other items.

It's usually ships, buildings and things in movies - like in The Day The Earth Stood Still, and A Day After Tomorrow. It's near impossible for me to watch those films.

Arachnophobia - The fear of spiders

In my case, this phobia is very severe. Thinking about spiders makes my skin crawl and I go into a scratching frenzy. I can't even look at a live spider, nor a picture of one, without becoming paranoid about a mass number of spiders coming to get me. And if I even see a spider web, you can be assured that I'm not going that that general direction.

Arachnophobia. This is, by far, the worst fear I've ever had. And I've had it for as long as I can remember. The first panic attack I remember having because of it was when I was 4, and there was a wolf spider on the floor. I jumped on the table and started screaming bloody murder. My mom thought I was being attacked. And now, every time I see a spider, I run away and get shaky. If I can't get away from it, I stop breathing. If it touches me...I go the whole nine yards. Screaming, crying, hyperventilating, feeling trapped, shaking... It sucks. :| I react the same way with cockroaches.

I also think I have social phobia/anxiety. But I haven't been diagnosed with it, yet.
