I'm going to write a cousin incest story [hopefully]. Do you guys think that cousin incest would get the same reaction that sibling incest would? (From family members, I mean.)

Well, probably not as dramatic of a reaction, but as far as the "that's sick" reaction, that would definately still be there. Good luck!

But remember, you aren't them. There are certain circumstances that lead to incest. It's not usually "oh, my sibling is attractive, I want to have sex with them", there are almost always deeper problems that stem from everything from mental imbalance to being abused as a child and only finding comfort in each other (re: Flowers in the Attic). It can also deal with how the people are raised. The ancient Egyptians and Romans practiced incest all the time, as a way of keeping the royal blood pure. Some people still have that mindset when it comes to race, and definately that can result in incestual relations.

- ^No, I don't think so.
In today's society, I think it's really disturbing. I don't see any reason for anyone to have sex with their sibling. They're many other choices in the world. I don't think you should love your siblings anymore than a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
I've heard one girl talking about it (not on this site). She sounded young, naive and confused. She let her curiosity get the best of her.
You need to read the first post of this thread. It's not for the discussion of incest in society, simply in writing. What you're talking about doesn't pertain to writing.

The mess up starts with the abuse/ metal imbalance. Most of the stories I've read the people have WROTE include regular people. When I read the ones with people that have been raped, abused or whatever, I understand that. But I don't like the random falling in love people.

But regardless, while this is an interesting topic, I don't think your post applies to writing.
But that isn't how it works in the real world--it's called fiction for a reason. And besides, it's totally unrealistic when anyone randomly falls in love with another person, whether or not they're related.

And ANCIENT Egypt isn't TODAY'S society. That's the reason I said that.
I read the end of your post. I still think the same way about it.

And if you read the end of my post, I said that that was the original mindset and that it STILL exists today.
But there are still reasons it happens in today's society--that's what I'm saying. You're obviously allowed to have your own opinion, I'm just telling you that there are reasons it happens (though, I do agree that when they randomly fall in love it is odd).

That's what I don't like about incest in writing, though.
So you think incest in writing is bad because you think incest is bad. I'm assuming you think murder is bad. Does that mean we shouldn't write about it?

No. 'Cause if you really love someone looks don't matter. And if it's just lust it creates an interesting psychological factor.
- Michael James Way.:
- ^ Do you think it's awkward at all, for identical twin, being in love with someone who physically looks just like you?
Of course the looks don't matter--and I'm pretty sure nothing would stop them. I'm just curious about the 'having sex with someone who looks just like me' part. Would that be a hinderance to their concecration of their love?

I don't think so. I think two people who are so the same would notice the differences in each other. And unless the person hated themselves . . .
