I tend to mis-use commas. A lot. And use a ridiculous amount of metaphors, similes and cliches.

^^ Same here, but with the metaphors, I think I use extremely vague metaphors that comply with the theme of the story.... and I doubt anyone gets those Sad

I tend to have a 'weak' character and a 'strong' character. The 'weak' one normally has a confidence problem and doesn't trust people around them.

This roots back to me being paranoid of other people and fearing that I'm hated or spoken about behind my back, or various symptoms of avoidant personality disorder/paranoid personality disorder.

I tend to get really sappy sometimes in my stories. It makes me sick.

I say things too long-windedly. And it kills me, because I hate reading over-descriptive prose.

Best friend characters all seem the same, whether they're male or female. They just take on this cliche voice and stuff... I can't help it. It's so frustrating.

I can seem to write a happy ending in my stories for the life of me.
Also, I tend to use a lot of and, but, however.
    Too much adjectives.
I have a fear of writing a conversation, so my one-shots are mostly deaf, so to say. It's mostly the person the story is focused on is telling the story without actually talking.
I have noticed that my stories are sort of spacey. It's not intentional, I just seem to wander off when I write, but on some level everything is connected.

My tone can be affected by what I'm reading.
When I've read a lot of Fitzgerald, especially, I can hear his voice in my own writing.
Mostly in drabbles, private journal entries. Things I can write in one sitting.
Same thing happened when I was reading Charlie Chaplin's autobiography.

I get really dramatic and use a helluva ton of cliff-hangers.

Same here! Finally, I don't feel so odd now that some one else out there has the same problem as me :)

Same with me, I tend to get affected even by fanfiction when I read a good one. Like, I read one written in present tense, and then I feel the urge to write in present tense, and so on.

Which is also why I find it difficult to write long fictions, because then I feel like the flow is broken. I can simply see where I have stopped and then started again, because the tone is different.

Same here. Present tense, moment in time, and unresolved endings.

I use semi colons, colons and hyphens a lot. Probably more than I should.

And I think I've mentioned this in another thread, and someone gave me a name for it, but I tend to write in third person yet keep the focus on one character.

Everything I write tends to be character-driven rather than plot-driven.

In het relationships that I write , the main girl character tends to be this really quirky, out there, spontaneous person while the main male character tends to be more reserved or awkward. They just sort of balance each other out.

I use commas and semi-colons far too often. And I use adverbs basically every other word. :/

I've noticed that I always have to kill off at least one character, often more. I just can't let them all get out alive. XD

hmmm....I guess a lot of my main characters are either one end of the spectrum or the other. They're either loud and outgoing (sometimes obnoxious XD) or quiet and reserved. IDK why, but it's sort of hard to make a main character in the middle.....
Oh, and I tend to skip words when I'm hand-writing and start thinking a head. It doesn't go into my stories, but it's more of an annoying habit XD

For all of my stories, when I write a chapter, I somehow create a "key word" and consistently use it throughout the chapter. However, the next chapter will have a different word. I dunno why it happens. A word just becomes popular in each chapter lmfao

I seem to have a cautious main character and a flamboyaunt love interest or secondary character [reversed in Ashley and Matt]. There's always the main guy, the best friend/love interest, the girl, and the two or three friends.
