In my school, half way through the year you get a report that tells you how you're doing in classes. e.g

Art- Effort grade B, Homework effort- good, Behavior grade A, predicted level-5A, Level 5B.

My school works differently than other school in Birmingham, England. We have levels. the lowest level you can get is a 3C and the highest is a 8A. In year 7 (11 and 12yr olds) for every piece of work you are grading on, you are predicted between a level 3A-4A. Year 8, 5C-6A. Year 9- high 6 or low 7's.

    the table goes like this.

    3C, 3B, 3A
    4C, 4B, 4A
    5C, 5B, 5A
    6C, 6B, 6A
    7C, 7B, 7A
    8C, 8B, 8A

C's being the lowest and obviously A's being the highest. Right now I'm hitting high 7's so 7B's and A's which is over my target.

I understand that in different countries, the grading is different like: GPA's.

I'm at University, we do it like this:

    Mark Band Grade Description
    90 - 100 A1 Outstanding
    80 - 89 A2 Highly Excellent
    70 - 79 A3 Excellent
    60 - 69 B Very good
    50 - 59 C Good
    40 - 49 D Satisfactory
    (anything less is a fail).

Anything higher than 70 is a 1st, 60 is a 2:1, 50 is a 2:2, 40 is a 3rd. Those are the degree classifications in Britain. Policy is (allegedly) that for Humanities students in first and second year, nobody gets above an 80. It's meant to be extremely rare, at least, although it varies from subject to subject (and marker to marker). It's sort of frustrating but still.

For every class, you get an average on 100.
Then instead of an overall average, we have what we call the "R score". It's calculated through a mathematical equation (which I don't really understand) and takes in consideration your grades, and your group's average (strength).
It's usually between 15 and 35 (though most people's are between 16 and 29). The average R score is 25.

    That's about it.

Wow, our system seems so simple compared to everyone else's. tehe

    90-100% = A
    80-89% = B
    70-79% = C
    69 or below = F

We did away with D's in our district.

With NCEA, we can get four grades. Not achieved, achieved, merit, and excellence. Though for some tests we can only get achieved and not achieved, which is annoying to explain to the parents when they're wondering why you didn't get merit or excellence.

    Facepalm

Then at the end of the year you get an NCEA certificate (level one, two, three), and if you get over fifty excellence credits, then you get a certificate with excellence, and same with merit. And you have to have at least 80 credits to pass.

    I think that's everything. Think

    >90% - A band 1 (like A*)
    70% - 90% - A band 2
    60% - 70% - B
    50% - 60% - C

    40% - 50% - D
    <40% - No Award

Though it varies paper to paper, year to year XD

    0 - 49% = F
    50 - 72% = C
    73 - 85% = B
    86 - 100% = A

Then, c is worth 2 points, B 3, A 4, add them together and divide by the number of classes to find your average and 3 - 3.4 is B honours and 3.5 - 4 is A Honours.

    85-91: G
    75-84: S
And anything below a 75 is NI, or failing.

Don't ask me what the letters stand for, I have absolutely no idea.

Wow, no wonder all the American kids at my uni complain when they get 64s or 58s. I'm all, what, did you think you were going to get above a 75 or something? Shifty Different grading systems must be so hard to adapt to.

    80-89 B
    70-79 C
    65-69 D
    64-0 F

GPA's are difficult to calculate. It depends what class you take, if you take an AP class or Honors or College Prep. AP classes and Honors classes are weighted therefore you can get up to 5 credits if you get an A. In College Prep classes to get a 4 you have to get an A.

We have MYP grading. I hate it. I don't even know how it fully works, but it's weird.

We use a pretty basic scale all across BC for elementary-high school.

<49.5=Fail (and that .5 is important. XD )
    <60=C-
    60-72=C
    73-86=B
    86+=A

University, if you're below 65, you're failing. Bs are good, and As are for the incredibly smart, dedicated, I-Have-No-Social-Life people.

UGH. I grew up in places where it was....
    90-100 A
    80-89 B
    70-79 C
    69 below is D

but then I moved to a school where it is now...
    93 - 100 A
    85 - 92 B
    77 - 84 C
    65 - 76 D
    64 below is F

GAWD, my final grades this year after I moved?
    English - 84 C
    Math - 89 B
    PE - 96 A
    Art - 98 A
    Science - 83 C
    History - 91 B
    Driver's Ed - 90 B
If i hadn't moved and my grades came out like this, then it would 4 A's and 3 B's.... one of my best report cards ever, but even if though I mentioned that to my parents, they're like "No, you still got 2 Cs!!!!"
gawd I hate having asian parents >.<

Other than the joke above, my schools have always graded like this:

    80-100 = A
    70-79 = B
    60-69 = C
    50 - 59 = D

    Anything below a 50 is a fail.
    I know it's different in colleges/universities, though.

I'm envious! I really wish my school would grade like that! Or anything near that!!
