I kind of want to buy one. Or maybe a Noon from Barnes&Noble.
Does anyone know if either of them are worth it?

Yeah. My brother thinks it's stupid, but he doesn't read; he doesn't realize books are annoying to lug around, especially when you're travelling!

You can download Kindle apps from Amazon for computers, iPods, iPads, etc. So if you don't want to buy one, you could always download the free app.

I was unsure whether to get the Kindle or iPod Touch 4th gen for Christmas, and when I found out that I could get my Kindle books (I have the computer app) on an iPod (which does many other things too) I thought just get that instead.

However, I know someone who has a Kindle and it is definitely worth it.

I have the Kindle and I absolutely love it. It's convenient and you don't have to carry a lot of books if you're travelling. It's slim so it can fit almost anywhere and the price has gone down to around $139 I think.

I think the idea of the Kindle is pretty awesome. I kind of want one, but I'm a little worried I'd miss my paperback and hardcover books. :(

I've got an Amazon Kindle. It's pretty amazing.
The only problem I've had is that when you turn it off, some picture shows up on the screen. It stays there until you turn it back on again. I assume this uses up the battery, even when I'm not using it, which is annoying. But other than that, I love it.
There's also one's you can get with its own internet, which is pretty cool.

i have the nook. i like it a lot. There's three different kinds. Most of the books aren't more than $9.99. It's also pretty nice not going to have to bring all my books to and from college. ^_^

I tried the Kindle, but sold it to a friend immediately. I missed my books, haha. I felt like technology was taking them away. But I'm old fashioned and prefer the actual hard copy. :3

I got one as a gift for my last birthday - I like it alright. I don't use it to an excessive amount, but I download books onto it that I need for class and it's just more convenient. If you read a lot or go on a lot of trips / read a lot of books in class; I'd suggest investing in one.

See I don't mind this, I'm not sure if it uses up battery or not but I'm sure I read somewhere when I got my kindle that it has a two month battery life, so I've never really found the screen thing an issue.

I love my kindle! It's so practical, I used to end up carrying so many books around with me but now it's just so much easier. I'm so protective over it because I don't think they make my one anymore and it's my favourite version lmfao

I love the iPad. But my fiancé has a kindle and it's pretty neat, I like how nosy people can't read what I'm reading. hehe comes in handy when I'm reading 50 shades of grey. ;)

I am a book reader. I love the smell of the ink, the dust of libraries, and the crinkle of the paper. However, I do own a Kindle, and I must say it is fantastic for getting books when you need them, i.e. IMMEDIATELY. I have to agree with all things everyone else is saying about books v. E-readers, but what is a book really meant for? It's to tell a story. why does it matter if it is in Hard-back or metal?

I love my Nook but I still read from regular books. Sometimes it's nice to read from something different. Some books are easier to read on the Nook than they are in print for me for some reason. It's also nice getting slightly cheaper books immediately. That's always a plus! :)

I've got the Kindle, and the way to fix this is that when you turn off your Kindle, you have to press and hold the switch until the screen goes blank. It does use up the battery if you don't turn it off correctly. You don't have to do this, but I prefer it this way. Bye
