I don't think people are really posting on this thread with the expressive intent to discuss why they dislike the bands. Think Which I know, I know, it sounds kind of silly when I put it out there, but yeah. Facepalm Why post on a discussion thread if you don't want to discuss it? Well I myself, while open to the idea of talking about why I don't like a band I don't like, don't necessarily like to discuss it with a fan of the band because I always feel like I'm coming off as rude. Shifty

But, no, you're right. You two were respectful about it. I mean, yes, if they're outright bashing the band (and by bashing I mean 'THIS BAND SUCKS HARD, I THINK THE LEAD SINGER NEEDS TO GO DIE, etc), I think that's reason enough to step in. But otherwise, why even make a comment? People have already said things about no one liking band x. Perhaps I'm just a pessimistic sort of person, but I can see all sorts of bad feelings coming out of this thread. I've seen fans of the same band attack each other on Mibba. People can get pretty defensive/offensive about music on the boards, which I completely understand. Just saying.

    /non-confrontational!anneh is non-confrontational XD

....I feel like I was a little all over the place with that one. XD Bad train of thought, anyone?

I'll just pop in because forgot to add my most disliked band on the face of the planet.

    Snow Patrol.

I mean, they're okay and their music is alright, but you know... It's just Gary Lightbody's voice. It gets on my wick. Shifty. I don't know why. I love the lyrics and the music and when people do covers, but the lead singer's voice is just... ugh. I don't know how to explain it. It just does my head in. >.< I haven't actually seen many Snow Patrol fans around mibbz, but yeah. I just really dislike his voice... if he had a different voice I'd probably have a different opinion. XD.

That said, Editors are one of my favourite bands and their singer has quite a similar voice. Just something about Gary Lightbody irks me. Twitch.

    /endrant.

Also, HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE MUSE?!!!!!11/1/!??1?oneone?!!/1?!/1

^ Nobody has to reply to that. XD. Just my "hiss hiss, Muse dislikers? Where? Let me get my flaming torch, brb," side popping out. Facepalm.

Edit: Actually, a ton of people I know and various others I don't dislike Muse or aren't fussy about their music. So my "hiss hiss, Muse dislikers? Where? Let me get my flaming torch, brb," side is less of a 'side' and more of a constant attitude to life. lmfao.

I like discussion. Even if it's about things I feel very passionate about and the other party really dislikes.
Like... religion and politics for example. It's more interesting for me to discuss with someone on the opposite side of the aisle from me. Just... not as fun preaching to the choir, y'know?

Since this is a discussion thread, I think we should be allowed to ask questions and get answers. If it was just to list things this might as well go into the General thread.

I just get scared and run away when people in a whole different ballpark are like, "I has different opinions, let us fight!" Maybe because I'm scared of offending them or being buggered or having my mind changed, or whatever. I just fail. Facepalm. XD.

Agreed. I think I'd rather have my ears listen to something unappealing than my foot in immense, immense pain with blood gushing everywhere and not too mention the hospital bills...
Adding on to my previously, very short, list, I have to say I'm not a huge fan of Rob Thomas. Think His voice just gets kind of old to me.

Just a figure of speech... I wouldn't actually shoot myself in the foot... Cute

It's not that I hate Green Day. I really don't. I just don't like their sound, expecially their new stuff.

    To each their own. Cute
Their new album is tied with Warning and Nimrod as my favourite. XD
It's the singles that are Facepalm
They really picked the weakest songs off the album to make singles this time.

I didn't think 21 Guns was completely horrible. My sister made me listen to it all the time in her car, so I guess I got used to it.

There are other artists I would prefer to listen to, but some of their songs really aren't that bad... Just in general I'm not a big fan.

And metal bands like Metallica. Maybe it's not so much that I dislike their music as much as it is that they're overrated in my opinion, and how some people only learned about them through Guitar Hero or something (although that makes me dislike the people more than the band).

I dislike most of the popular new bands. To me, it's just the same voice and same beats over and over. Shock/horror, I don't necessarily love Green Day either, and I'm willing to tell you why. They used to be my favourite band when I was 10 or so, and you know, it has been awhile. I evolved as a person and thus my taste in music changed, too. I won't change the song if they happen to come up on shuffle, I'd feel ungrateful, but I won't go out of my way to listen to them either.

    Edit: Ohai, rambling top. tehe

We share so much. *wipes tears from eyes*

Much like some Muse 'fans' are all, "Ohai, I love Muse because of that song they did for Twilight!" and... grrr. I could go on for eight pages about that.

It was like that youtube thing I found, where someone said, "I recently discovered Thom Yorke from the New Moon album and decided to have a look at some of his other stuff - then I found this cool new song by Radiohead called Stockholm Syndrome, and it's really great!" and everyone was either commenting saying, "This is a huge step down for Radiohead, it's awful!" or, "This is Muse, you wanker!" It's like, wat. Facepalm.

I can understand that, but at the same time- I think the entire idea of this thread could cause some people to get defensive and offensive about their favorite bands, y'know? That could just be the way that I see it, but who knows?

I feel that if there's more discussion about why said bands are disliked, as opposed to just saying THAT they're disliked, it could make for good conversation. Other people seeing each other's points of view could make them less defensive, I guess.

Could just be my curiousity, but I get curious as to why people don't like certain bands. It's not me trying to be rude or cause fights, I'm just interested in knowing.

And I do understand where you're coming from about fans of Green Day getting attacky. I think if people were to go into attack mode about it, there'd be a problem. But as I've said before, I think this thread in general can cause some emotions to run high... so I think maybe saying 'I dislike this band for this reason' is a way to keep them under control. But that could just be differing points of view on both of our behalfs.
    la nuit belge.:
Like this. I can respect that. It doesn't offend me. It doesn't seem like anything worth arguing over. Some people don't like my favorite band, and that's fine. Since I do love Green Day so much, I like to hear the reasons why people don't, because usually- I can't understand what there is about them to dislike.

I'm not interested in arguing with anyone over it, just curious as to the reasons why. I may disagree, but I'm not going to get offended. XD

I've realised that I don't really like Alicia Keys' songs. Think I like her voice, and she seems like a nice person, but it's her songs that really annoy me. I don't know what it is about them.

Also, NDubz. Shifty Mostly because of that weird thing Dappy does at the start of every song. lmfao

I think it's stupid just to stop liking a band just because they are now more popular or because you feel that everyone loves them if you once listened and enjoyed them yourself. I still like bands that I used to like before they became famous. It'll never change how I feel about them.

    Anyways, my list:
Eminen, Miley Cyrus, Justin Beiber, Jason DeRulo, Paramore
