Unpopular Music Opinions

  • sobre mi cadaver:
]I do not like the classic rock/metal bands like Guns N Roses, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Kiss, Journey, Rush, Metallica, Black Sabbath, and so on.
I like Zeppelin and Queena and some Stones, but most classic rock is actually horrible. I can't staaaand Guns N' Roses.

  • Drew is my favourite member of Emblem3; not only because of his personality and perspective but because he writes a good bulk of the songs. He even said so himself that Sunset Blvd was his song. That song started it all and it's so damn annoying how he's the least recognized / liked member of the band despite that.

  • I actually like Panic!'s new album, despite nearly every person I've talked to about it hating it. I don't see why them changing their sound is a big deal because it isn't too far from what they had to begin with. It's more polished and radio-friendly, sure, but it's good and it sounds like Panic! to me. I actually like that they've kind of gone back to the electronic sort of stuff.
I don't like it when people go on about good artists having to be 'cool' or 'independent'. For 90% of bands, their music is how they make money and there are ways in the industry to make your music more appealing to the masses. Bands aren't selling out, they're making money to keep their families afloat. And as long as the music they bring out is a progression of what they did before and / or is good, then I don't see the problem. A musician is a musician whether they are in the charts or not.

  • I've given up on not listening to songs because of something I disagree about the artist with. I just won't pay for their songs.
    May 24th, 2014 at 05:12am
  • I give no fucks about who the artist is, if it's catchy, it's catchy.

  • I really hate STEREO.C.K.

I can't understand how many fans of Kagerou and Daisuke now support this band. I wonder if they don't notice how hard Sena is trying to be Daisuke. I find it really offensive.

I have nothing against the remainder members of Kagerou starting another band and moving on, it was really about time when they did it, and I'd completely support them at it if they didn't had Sena trying to look like Daisuke, sing like Daisuke and even do the same crazy faces Daisuke used to do. It's so disgusting to me.

I know it's kind of weird of me to feel so much for someone I've never met personally, but Daisuke was really someone I deeply respected and when he passed away I couldn't even listen to anything that had his voice in. Now, after so long I'm starting to go back and listen to Kagerou and the studs without feeling like crying. It's a bit pathetic, I know. Anyway, I wish people would respect Daisuke's memory and not to be his copycat to try and make some money.

  • I have no idea if this is an unpopular opinion, but I have a burning hated for the White Stripes.

    But guaranteed unpopular opinions areeee:

    1.) I can't stand Lorde.
2.) I never thought Amy Winehouse was talented.
3.) Rebecca Black was never nearly as bad as people claimed she was, especially since artists like Britney Spears use about 5987 times more autotune.
    4.) I can't stand One Direction.
5.) I don't see why people think Kanye West is talented.
    6.) Or Lil Wayne.

    And the big one is...

7.) I'm tired of people saying with absolute certainty what a music video is about. My biggest example is Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball music video. Do I honestly care that she was naked in the music video? No. I really don't. Nudity in music videos is not even remotely new. However, can we all just agree that you can't definitively say that the music video is trying to show vulnerability when she's literally naked and riding a wrecking ball before licking sledge hammers? You can say you that's what you took from it, but I shouldn't get attacked simply because I don't see it.

  • I don't get all the hype about Miley.

  • Kazaky are one of the most fun bands I have ever came across. Sure, they're different, they're men that dance in heels but they're super attractive, it's amazing to dance to and ugh In Love They make me happy.

  • I still like Robin Thicke.

  • I don't dislike any music. If it has good lyrics, a good tune, is catchy, or is chill, or any combination, I'll listen to it.

What if it's none of those things? :P

I've yet to find music I hate. Maybe I didn't word that well.

THIS. I think he's got a fairly good voice on him, and that Blurred Lines song is catchy. I don't care if people think he's being all ~pig-headed~, he's a good musician.
I think Paolo Nutini makes better music when he's on drugs. Jussayin'.

  • I like everything from rap to rock to pop to electronic to symphonic, but...I don't like country. Sure, I've found some country songs I like, (honestly, most of these songs are heavily influenced by other genres) but, in general, country is my least favorite genre.
I don't mind autotune or anything like that. I usually don't care what an artist sounds like live because I don't really like concerts anyway.

  • I always got the impression that One Direction was the west's response to the Asian boy band craze. Seems to me like they just wanted to jump on the bandwagon.

I don't like Avenged Sevenfold after seeing them live. I thought they were rude and didn't put on a very good show.

I really dislike most k-pop. I think most of the music has very similar rhythms and lyrics, and the artists all look/act similar (follows the pattern of a large group consisting of one good dancer, one good singer, a rapper, a few pretty people). I don't mind it if it's catchy enough, but I don't usually like more than one song from a band.

I liked Rammstein until I learned enough German to understand their lyrics. Spiel Mit Mir is no longer a song I can handle listening to. It gives me the willies.

I don't like Lady Gaga. I think most of what she does is for shock value, like wearing a dress made out of raw meat. Her music can have a good message, but I hate how she has so much stuttering going on (Ale-ale-alejandro // Po-po-po-poker face, etc).

To be fair, the East's boy band craze happened after the west's did. Also, ours technically never went away, it just kind of simmered down. After all, there are still lots of Western boy bands and those sort of artists around. Hell, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys are still touring.

Can we all, as a society, agree to stop covering Wonderwall? Just leave it alone.

THIS. 500% THIS. Only Oasis can sing that song properly, so everyone should stop trying. Coffee
I actually like Billy Corgan's voice. Apparently that's weird. I think his voice suits the music he sings and it works.

  • @ house of cards.
Amen to that. Which is probably why I become an irrational level of angry any time every idiot with a guitar decides to whip that one out of their repertoire when they've got nothing else.

    ----------

Also, another thing about covers? Just because the voice is gritty in a song doesn't mean it needs to be changed. Stop taking every gritty/messy song and making it sound clean. Creep by Radiohead isn't supposed to sound crisp or clean.

It really grates on me. I mean, I can play Wonderwall (I don't think there's a guitarist on the planet that can't play Wonderwall, it's one of the first songs everyone at my uni admits to learning) but I don't ever play it seriously. I play it to irritate my friends - again, it irritates them because no one but Oasis should play it as a serious song. Coffee

Totally agree with your comment about gritty voices as well. It's part of the reason why I mildly dislike Panic! at the Disco's cover of Tonight, Tonight. Brendon's voice is too sugary to pull off the song, especially since Billy Corgan's voice is so gritty and...I don't want to say nasty because I actually love his voice, but I have no other word to describe it. It lost a lot of the original flair when the vocals were perfect and as much as I love Brendon's voice, it ruined the cover for me.
