Avatar The Legend of Korra has been recently announced to be released in 2011. Its takes place 70 years after the Last Airbender. It's about a teenage girl from the Southern Water tribe who is---obviously---the next Avatar. Korra comes across a city named the Republic City, which is ridden with crime, and has a non-bending revolution just waiting to happen that could tear the city apart.

Spoiler if you haven't already seen things about it: Aang and Katara's son is the one to be teaching Korra Air bending, the only element she has yet to learn.

    This looks promising! Wow
I hope Aang is going to be the one Korra sees in the Spirit World — and that his enthusiastic attitude is still intact, though I can't imagine Aang acting like Roku XD

In other words, I can't wait.

Yeah, I want to see what Aang looks like as an old man!! ^_^
I told my little brother and he was sad that there was no more Aang.

    Then I thought....wait....no more APPA!
    Darn.
    He's a super cute guy.

^ Sokka was my favorite too. Plus Toph & Zuko. tehe

    Crazy Crazy Crazy
    I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS.

I'm a little bit over obsessed with TLA, but I blame it on the show for being so amazing. File

I hope there's a villain as wonderfully developed and characterized as Azula.
Because she was so amazing. Cheese
There were times when I loved her, and times where I was like, AANG KILL HER ALREADY.
She was so real, it was absolutely phenomenal.

Gaaaah I hope this isn't a disappointment like the movie.
I doubt it, but there is a possibility. Sad
But I don't expect it. Cute

As for old man Aang, I'm pretty sure he'll be like Bumi. XD
Crazy, spirited, and happy, with just the right amount of seriousness.

that would be a dream come true!
i was talking about it with my older brother and i just said something along the lines of Bumi still being alive, because he's "just that cool". Con

that and does anyone else think that Korra looking a little manly in that picture? tehe

^ Bumi was my favorite non-main character. He lived to be, like, 112, why not 200ish? lmfao

    And, yah. Manly Korra. XD
I don't know how I'll feel about a girl avatar... Av. Kyoshi always got on my nerves. T_T

I thought it was a man. Shifty
Anyways, I'm a little worried about this...Avatar is just so great y'know? I just don't think it's gonna compare and I don't wanna be disapointed.

It looks like it's going to be an animated version of the most well-developed fanfiction. XD
    Especially the Kataang kid thing.

    Dirty Byrd:
I'm sure this will be just as good as atla, because it's by the same writers (right?), and they couldn't make anything less than wonderful, imo.
It'll be similar, but not connected. So in that way I'm sure it'll be comparable, but not in a way that'll disappoint. Cute

I want lots and lots of firebenders in this.
And a firebender/waterbender relationship for Korra.
Because waterbenders and firebenders make osm couples. Crazy
Even though she's not just a waterbender, but, it's her native bending. So, it counts. Rolling Eyes

I would be worried, but its by the same writers and all that and its basically a new show all together...but not?

I like things were they are all connected in little ways, which happened a lot during the series.

News that should make you tearbend:
Andrea Romano, the voice/casting director of Avatar: The Last Airbender:
"I don’t know how much of the series I’m allowed to tell you, but that whole generation has died."
AKA Sokka, Toph, Katara, Zuko, Foamie, Suki, all the Kyoshi warriors, Ty Lee, Mai, everybody. Cry

    Source.

I let myself accept the fact that Aang died, but everyone else too? That's just heartbreaking.
I'm just hoping that we might be able to get a look at what happened after Zuko became Fire Lord and if he married Toph and they had badass royal babies.
Oh darn it. I thought Toko could be canon until I remembered Mai. Facepalm Nevermind, then.

Finally, for some lulz, and a prediction of what TLOK ~spiritworld will be like:

Aang being dead is completely understandable since he'll be technically 160-something when he died. But the average lifespan in the Avatar world seems longer than in this world (ie. 112-year-old Bumi and all the other old masters that are still kicking major ass in their current ages). So for the other GAang members to be dead 70 years into the future or even earlier than that, they kind of died youngish almost.

Although, it's probably just me wanting to see cool old people GAang. OMG NO!

That little comic tickled my fancy! tehe
I agree, 70 years later, they really wouldn't be that old! This makes me very sad, I mean we all knew in order for tehre to be a new avatar Aang would have had to been dead, but everyone else (besides the already older people) dead?! It's sad!

Maybe some how all their kids will be involved?*is hopeful* Smiley

I am really excited to see it, but a bit concerned. I mean, if there is no war, and she only needs to learn one element, and Toph/Sokka/Zuzu are all gone, then how will it all work? :/

I can imagine Aang being a little bit like Gyatso and a lot like Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter.

It's so sad that he has to die so Korra could be the next Avatar. I heard that he and Katara will have a son named Tenzin.
