I used to have my dream wedding all planned out, and it was pretty stereotypical. I've never, ever wanted a church wedding, though. Something outside was always ideal for me. I never really questioned it until I got engaged -- which I have been for over a year -- and I realized that stereotype weddings are just not for me.

Now, I just know I want it outside.
I don't want it to be traditional.
I know I want a Native American ceremony (he's Native and he described it to me, it's so beautiful sounding).
As for what I'm going to wear? I have no freaking clue! I don't want your typical white dress. I don't want anything you can really find on bridal sites or in magazines. I don't want to be all plain like my mom (for her marriage to my father, her dress came from Wal-mart and it cost no more than like $30). There isn't traditional wear for a Native American ceremony that I could go with because it's been so diluted by white society (damn them yankees! lmfao ). So I don't know. Maybe Will has some ideas for what he wants to see on the love of his life on that "big day" and all. Haha. In Love

Oh and I just have to say this. Yes, I know I'm only 16. I don't care what you think about the fact that I'm engaged at this age because you don't know us or our history. Judging other people is a waste of energy.

That being said, I'd like some ideas on what I should wear if you have any, so send me a message if you have some! =)

I was sixteen when my boy asked me. I'm 18 now, and he'll be 21 in March. In Love

If you don't mind me asking, whats involved in a Native American ceremony? My mom's side of the family has a lot of Native American blood, but I don't know a lot about traditions and such.

    ^ Awhh. =)

For his particular culture, it involves a red tie wrapped around the hands symbolizing the binding and a star quilt wrapped around the couple. A medicine man or woman performs the wedding prayer. I don't know much else unfortunately.

Edit: Here is a great site if you want to know more. The one I'm considering is very similar to the Blanket Ceremony listed on there. There's a lot to consider and many things he was talking about incorporating. =)
There's more here and here. Keep in mind that every Native American culture is different (most sources are made by ignorant people who can't grasp that concept, so be careful what sources you trust) and you can consult the medicine men of certain tribes to find out how theirs are different from other cultures.

Will is what most people would call Sioux. The Sioux are actually three different tribes: Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota. When the French came, the common enemy of all three (Ojibways) explained what the Ojibway word for Lakota meant and then French called them that, and that caught on. The French word is Sioux and it means "treacherous snake" heh. Somewhere along the path of history, someone got lazy and grouped the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota together as Sioux and according to most history books, there's no such thing as Lakota and Nakota - they're all Dakota, but that's untrue. (/offtopic)
Sorry for that bit of a history lesson hahaha.
Point was, Will is Lakota. XD

Oh man, I want to get married at the Sleeping Beauty castle at Disneyland. Cute It's so beautiful! And I love this dress. Yes, I know it's Cinderella's dress and I want to get married at Sleeping Beauty's Castle, but Cinderella's dress is the prettiest. And it sparkles! I'm such a Disney girl. XD I want a bouquet of solid yellow roses, because they're my favorite flower. I don't think I'll have a big bridal party, just a maid of honor and maybe a few bridesmaids. No color scheme really, no themes. I haven't really planned out the reception yet, but I want it to be outdoors, in a garden with lots and lots of colorful flowers. The wedding would be in the late spring or summer. Bubbles, not rice. Oh! And instead of a cake, cupcakes! tehe

I pretty much only want to look like a princess. But if I could choose I'd get married outside, not in a church. And it wouldn't be a huge ceremony with only like 3 bridesmaids.

    Oh, and I want a tiara :)

    Church wedding is a no.
    White wedding is a no.
I want a unique wedding - yes, I know it takes more than just not in a church and not white to be unique. I'm thinking... a blue wedding dress, a sparkling tiara, oh, and the perfect place to hold the wedding: a Japanese Garden.
^^I know, of course, there are a lot more elements to a wedding than just the outfit and place setting, and that it's unlikely my wedding will be like that, but, hey~ I can dream!
And as for big wedding? No. I get nervous around big crowds. I'd probably just be my immediate family (parents, sisters and their families, brother and his family) and his immediate family.

My cousin had a Native American ceremonial wedding, and they said their vows under a blanket, so only the other could hear. It was on a hilltop in the Appalachian Mountains and was absolutely gorgeous. As for her dress, she hand-made it.

All I really know is I want it to be very small, and outside, and not really religious but more spiritual I guess.

My dream wedding is to go abroad and get married in the Caribbean or something with literally my fiancé and that's it. The only thing that puts me off this is that my family/friends would probably never forgive me if I were to do that and would be severely gutted as it’s my mum’s dream to see me walk down the aisle.
It is something I do think about often though because I'm really not someone who enjoys having tons of attention and I kind of hate the idea of having so many people there watching you and commenting on your dress/venue/first dance/food etc. XD & the idea of just being on a gorgeous sandy beach in a simple white wedding dress and just the one I love waiting there is kind of actually perfect. In Love I already have two dresses saved on my laptop from ages ago, one for if I was to get married abroad which is simple but absolutely gorgeous! And then a more ‘princess’ one if it was to be here. I am also pretty certain I will have my hair in really soft long curls tehe I think about it far too much…Cute

I told my dad my dream wedding the other day and he just laughed at me, while my friends just loved it.

I haven't thought much about it, but what I do know is I want to get married at Disneyland in October. I have this fascination with Disney and it just seems like the perfect fit. Then at the reception the entire wedding party, including myself and my groom, will do the Thriller dance in our formal attire. Dance

So as much as I love being a princess, I've decided I don't want it at Disney anymore. XD I still prefer the idea of it being outside, with in a place that's soft and pretty with lots of flowers, like a garden. I want it very small, just immediate family and close friends. Still in the spring or summer, and bubbles and cupcakes are still a must. tehe I want to have all sorts of interesting food and fun music, and I want it to just be pretty, simple, and sweet. And a simple dress too, something flowy and feminine (although I still do have a soft spot for the glittery Cinderella gown) with flowers in my hair.
I think about getting married too much, and after the royal wedding it's become an obsession. Shifty

Al fresco, for sure. I'm not Christened so I can't get married in a church and besides, I'm not religious so the idea doesn't appeal to me at all. I'd like it somewhere fancy, like a historic town, on the grass behind a really beautiful house or castle-type thing, like this, under a marquee with a bandstand and things. I'd like a simple white dress, like this, and have the rest of the outfits peach, pale blue and cream (like this). I'd like in in late May or early June when it's sunny but still cool.

Firstly, I want to be engaged for at least a year before I get married. Maybe up to four years. To me, the engagement should really be the start of commitment, and the ceremony is more about legalising it and making it official. Plus, I want to have enough time to save up money for both a beautiful wedding and for the start of the future.

Probably late springtime. I used to want a sunset wedding so I'd have the whole day to be excited and nervous, but I've changed my mind. I wouldn't want it to be too early in the day, because that way I wouldn't get that jittery feeling of 'this is my wedding day' so much. So probably early afternoonish.

I never really wanted a church wedding. I always pictured something on the beach or in a beautiful park (possibly Japanese, even though that might feel a little strange considering I have no Japanese heritage). Either way, if it's outdoors I'd love a huge white marquee trimmed with the floral arrangements. I'd be terrified of the weather though. Lately, I have been feeling the appeal of a church much more... But if I was to get married in a church, I would want it to be one with amazing architecture, perhaps a gothic cathedral... And there's nothing like that where I live seeing as Australia's only been colonised for approximately 230 years, and I wouldn't want to get married so far away that most of the people I know wouldn't be able to afford to come (and unless I'm extremely wealthy, there's no way I'm paying for anyone's flights).

Red and white colour scheme. Red roses and open white lilies. My bouquet will be the same, the sort that flows over my hands like this.

I'm not sure exactly what I'd want my dress to be like. Something white and simple, but not too simple. And not long sleeved. And not so it looks like a cheap prom dress. Absolutely no tiara. Hair and make up will be done specially, but not too overdone. I want make up, but I'd still like natural sort of colours.

Even though red and white is the colour scheme, my bridesmaids will not wear white and won't wear red, because red detracts attention from me. I don't want ugly dresses or anything, I hate that whole idea, but it's my special day and I do want to be the centre of attention. They'd probably be a champagne sort of a colour.

My dad would walk me down the aisle to something simple, and definitely not the traditional wedding song. Just something that sounds beautiful, on either acoustic guitar or piano.

The ceremony would be short and simple. I'd probably like some sort of Christian or Catholic tradition or reading, because that's how I've been raised (even if I'm still trying to discover my own faith) and I know that my late grandmother would appreciate it. I wouldn't want it to be a completely standard ceremony or anything though.

I'd like to keep the guests in the high double digits, so it's not too small and not too big.

The reception would probably be at a different place to the actual wedding, maybe in a nice hotel ballroom or something like that. The finger food/appetisers would be before and after the ceremony at the place of the wedding, and then the actual meal at the reception. I'm quite simplistic when it comes to food, maybe some ravioli or tortellini for the entree, a sort of chicken dish alternating with a lamb dish for the main (I don't really eat red meat, but I know a lot of guests, men in particular, probably wouldn't be happy without it) with salad, and a selection of all different types of desserts. Open bar.

Circular, tiered wedding cake with edible flowers flowing down the side, probably not the traditional fruit cake underneath, not sure of the flavour.

If there was going to be a band at the reception, they would have to be a band that both my husband and I love, not a cover band. Although I'm not sure of that, I could probably be persuaded into a cover band because the idea of a 'DJ', even of songs that I choose, somehow feels a little strange to me. My first dance will be to my husband and my song, no matter what it is. Some of the other songs I would like to be played are some uber romantics like 'Wonderful Tonight' by Eric Clapton, 'My Funny Valentine' by Chet Baker, 'This Modern Love' by Bloc Party, 'You and I Are a Gang of Losers' by The Dears and then some more upbeat ones. My husband would have more say in the playlist than anything else XD

I'd like to say honeymoon in the Maldives, but that's sort of a special thing with my boyfriend and I so if I get married to someone else (which, even though I hate to think about it, is most probable) it might not feel right. So perhaps somewhere in the Greek isles.

I'm hoping on being married right out of college. Cute

Definitely want to get married by my pastor, but not in my church...I want a big, beautiful cathedral like in the Helena video or in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Stained glass and ancient architecture. And it'll be at sunset so the lighting's perfect. In Love

Custom invitations that I'll either design myself or get from here (click). And rings of platinum or white gold, pretty simple. Sapphires. I'd like the inscription to be in Elvish, just for the sake of being nerdy tehe

My colors will be black and blue. And it'll have a whimsical steampunkish Alice in Wonderland-like theme. (Eat Me/Drink Me party favors, etc.)

I don't want a long ceremony or a too-large guestlist. I'd like to walk in to Here Comes The Bride, but played on guitar. I don't really want to wear heels, I'd much rather wear white converse high tops under my dress. tehe I definitely want to wear white. Like an icy-snow, pure white. Borderline blue, it's so white.

Truth be told, I'm not even sure I want a dress-- I've tossed around the idea of wearing white skinny jeans, leggings, or fishnets under a fluffy short skirt. No fancy beading, just silky-smooth material.

The bridesmaids' dresses will look very slim and simple. Like gowns. Deep blue with some sort of black overlay. Groomsmen will have black vests with white dress shirts underneath, and blue ties.

Simple little ceremony, traditional Christian vows. And rice being thrown.

Now the reception...I want it to be more like an afterparty. I'm not inviting anyone who won't want to dance. I want our first dance to be to an MCR song, though I'm not sure which one yet. In Love Plenty of Nirvana, Green Day, A7X, Cage The Elephant, Panic! At The Disco (clean versions of songs!), but also some line dancing too-- cupid shuffle, all that. Cheesy, I know tehe I want everyone moving, everyone dancing! Black lights, strobe lights, glowsticks. Just one big party.

I want the menu to be more like filling appetizers, though I'm not sure what I want on it yet. Just know I want organic food. The cake...multi-tiered, moist and fluffy vanilla cake with whipped icing. The groom's cake will have chocolate liqueur in it to make sure it's uber chocolaty...and probably whipped cream and chocolate strawberries on top. Plus a drink fountain and a chocolate fountain.

Very whimsical and fun. I hate stale, rigid weddings.

I definitely want a mix between uber-traditional and non-traditional. It's going to be unforgettable. I'll definitely have to get a planner to help me put it all together. tehe

And the reception will be a friggin' gig.
Everyone will wear semi-formal, suitable for the beach, of course.

I want to get married in the Harry Potter theme park on Halloween. tehe Not sure if you can actually get married there, but I'd like to try.

I want to decorate whatever building the ceremony is in with a thousand yellow daisies (to tie-in my Gilmore Girls obsession), and hopefully find some kind of semi-creepy additional decoration that ties in with the daisies. For food it'll be all organic and amazing and there will definitely be some sort of candy bar so people don't miss out on trick-or-treating. XD

I don't want a white dress (or at least not all white); I'd prefer something with a bit of black or grey.

And I'm not religious, so the ceremony would be whatever non-religious thing is offered.

As for music...maybe the Harry Potter theme dubstep remix? lmfao Never mind, that'd be really hard to dance to. I have no idea.

I want a Summer wedding. Maybe late January - mid February?
And I want to have it here, in the garden at my friends parents house.
And I want to wear this dress for the ceremony, and no shoes.
And I want to have dinner/speeches etc here in their conservatory restaurant, and then have the "reception" (aka a whole lot of drinking and dancing) anywhere that'll have me. lmfao
Oh, and I want this as my reception dress, 'cause it's my dream wedding and I can afford both. Coffee

Aaaaanndddd this is where I'll be spending my wedding night. It's also at my friends parents house. tehe

I've never really thought about my wedding before now. My cousin is getting married in August, and all the wedding talk has gotten to me, I guess.

I want to get married in autumn - late September, in a meadow somewhere. Keep me away from churches please! I also want to get married in the morning, maybe about 11.

As far as dresses go, I took all of three minutes to find the perfect one for me. Here. I want simple, red bridesmaid dresses - like this

Other than that, I haven't given it much thought.
