It has been mentionned that Scandal was going to be a genderbender. I don't have a source or anything at hand, but it was pretty reliable. Something like McGuigan's Twitter, or something, idk.

I wouldn't put it past them to make Irene a man.
    ... or Mary Morstan?

... I guess making Irene a man has pros and cons:

Pro: It makes sense, since in my very humble, although completely bias, opinion, it's been established, in a very subtextual way, that Sherlock is less than heterosexual.
    (I mean, "Not really my area"/"I know it's fine." ... just sayin'~).

Con: The whole point of Irene is that she is a woman who outsmarted Sherlock. The Woman.
... but that might be a bit obsolete, or even sexist, these days, so I think it's definitely a possibility.

Has it been mentioned that RUPERT GRAVES IS GOOD AT FOOTBALL AND HAS FIVE CHILDREN?

^ I heard about that. I think I reblogged something about that on my Tumblr. I love you Rupert. tehe

I do not like Mary Morstan. I just don't like her at all. Probably because I feel she gets in the way of Sherlock and John. File

Genderbender that's interesting. I so wonder what they would do for that. But at this point I'm excited for Irene. As you said: she is the woman outsmarted Sherlock and it would be intriguing to see how they take that into the 21st century.

This is probably bad thing to do but I think of 2009 movie, Irene was working for Moriarty. I think it would be interesting to see if she working for Moriarty on the show.

The Irene/Moriarty alliance (of sorts) is quite interesting, yeah. I'd especially like to see it in a modern context. An ex, maybe? Or something like that? (I'M A SUCKER FOR WHEN THEY DO REALLY MODERN STUFF).

I have to say, I loved the Ritchie!verse Sherlock Holmes, but the only, only thing I had a problem with was Irene. So I hope they don't head too much in that direction.

(as per Rupert Graves, if you saw it on Tumblr, I'm willing to bet it was me. I have a rule I have to reblog that audio post every time it comes up.)

They are doing 'A Scandal in Bohemia', 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' and 'The Final Problem'.

Respectively called 'A Scandal in Belgravia', 'The Hounds of Baskerville' and 'The Reichenbach Fall'.

Pretty exciting. These are all amazing stories.

Oh my goodness. I heard that, too. That's absolutely marvelous. I own the whole collection of stories, and when I heard what they were doing, I nearly died.

    Opinions of Irene Adler?

Also, I absolutely love everything about your theme. It's gorgeous.

EDIT; Sorry, I didn't bother to read the posts above mine (stupid me).

A possible male Irene Adler? Hm, I think I might like that idea. Normally I would be wary of any adaptation that strays so far from the literature, although BBC Sherlock is doing such a fantastic job. I think it's my favorite interpretation (although Jude Law and Martin Freeman are tied for favorite Watson).

I understand your argument about "The Woman", though. I think it would be a bit sexist, but then again, sexism is still very real today, and since Sherlock, thus far, has already been "bested" by a man (Moriarty), I think it would be an even lower blow to his pride to have a woman come in to take a shot, as well. Men do have that strange pride complex.

I would love to see it either way, however; I think the writing on this show is spectacular, and I'd be willing to watch anything that they put out.

Oh, what do you think about the whole CBS thing?

So, I've been rewatching series one in preparation for tomorrow. Weird

I'm very excited about seeing the boys back at work (and a little nervous about how they'll portray Irene Adler; I agree with a previous poster that Richie!verse Adler was just a hot mess), and I can't wait to see what new shenanigans Moriarty has planned. tehe Bring on January first!

I honestly have no idea what's going to happen in the new series and I don't want to know either. I love watching Sherlock when I don't have any idea of what to expect. tehe

^ I've seen hints and watched the previews and I'm still completely clueless. tehe I agree, I love not knowing what's going to happen. The anticipation is killing me.

I'm curious to how they'll resolve the cliffhanger from last season, but it's obvious that both Sherlock and John survive, so eh. Not so much anticipation there. XD

edit: I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING I SAID EARLIER
    IRENE FOREVER
    BEST EPISODE YET
    KJWGSNVIKVJNWLIGJVLSVNLEKJ

edit 2: I mean I don't exactly like certain elements of it, thinking it over now (spoilers in white): that Sherlock "won" in the end, that he ended up saving her, and that the two are sort of set up for a romantic relationship; personally, I would have just preferred the flirting and frenemies comradeship instead. They walked a bit of a fine line in this episode, and I felt like they overstepped it a few times. I would have loved a straight-up lesbian Adler. LOVED. PASSIONATELY. Still better than the movie Adler though. But I won't squabble over the details (too much). It was still quite good.

Possibly the best series I have ever seen and it has made the career of Benedict Cumberbach, Martin Freeman and Andrew Scott.

    I absolutely agree.

They're all flying high right now, and that makes me all tingly inside.

Although I do wish Andrew Scott got more recognition, because he's probably one of the best actors I have been given to behold. I don't know many actors who can create a character and make theirs, and so believable in just 13 minutes all in all.
Also if any of you ever get to watch Sea Wall, I think it will stand for itself.
Eugh, all of my Andrew Scott feelings.
    Irish eyebrows, my love.

I keep watching the Reichenbach Fall and it tears my heart out every single time I do. Anyone have any theories of what next season will look like?

This show is amazing. I loved Sherlock back when it was a blurb in my English textbook, along came Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law with their greatness in Guy's movie and now this? I'm in heaven, pure heaven, I can't stand it.

Plus, the characterization is perfect. The actors they picked for Sherlock, Watson and Mycroft are better than perfect as well. I was slightly open minded when I started the first episode, and was just blown away.

And Mrs. Hudson, omg, I love her, she's like my inner fangirl right in the show. She's amazing.

I'm so scared that because of Andrew Scott being too darn perfect at playing Moriarty, the series will go downhill because nothing will be able to top the last episode of the second season.
