    Well...
Bottom shelf is magazines that I should really throw out.
Next shelf is old kids' books.
Next one is crappy books that I don't read anymore (unfortunately, my Harry Potter books have been lumped in with that category - I still read those. <3)
The next one is my favourite books, arranged in order of height. Sort of.
The next two are old Reader's Digest books from my grandparents that we had no place to put except for in MY room.
And the last one has heaps of toys Con Yeah, I have a pretty big bookshelf.

    from top to bottom.

all my 'type/author' books. (ceciela ahern, katie price, hon series, hp series, manga and jodi picoult)
runs into next shelf. (cherub series, stepehen king books and the dollanganger family series)
all my jacqueline wilson books. (every book save for the old ones, i read them in the library)
general fiction. (a lot of romances and sad books/not my favourites)
books that I haven't read yet. (salem's lot, the lace reader, the murderes daughter's, the luxe, the journey, the lovely bones.)

and I have more in my wardrobe that I don't like and my winnie the pooh collectors edition book with every poem and story in it that won't fit in my shelves in my wardrobe too.

    Top to bottom:

1: CDs, NDS games, & PC games
2: DVDs, TV tie in books and (for some random unknown reason) the dictionary. :S
3, 4, 5: My current favourite fiction, all organised alphabetically by author's last name.
6: Big hardbacks, non-fiction (cookery books etc) - organised by size - and school revision books.

I've also got like 4 cardboard boxes stuffed full of old books that I don't really like / have grown out of, but I plan to get another shelf and sort them all out properly soon.

For my main 'library' (closet), I go alphabetically by author and then by release date.

I also have three other bookshelves. The first is books-to-read, which are ordered in the way I get them.

The other two are of books listed on BookMooch and they're just ordered according to which I read first.

    Oh this is a problem...

They started of in my wardrobe on the top shelf, but then they all wouldn't fit, so I cleared out a drawer and put them all in there...

THEN the drawer became cramp and the books were starting to strain so I 'borrowed' a box from my sister and deposited them in...

NOW the drawer is getting cramped again and the box is full... gonna have to invest in another one...

Arrangment wise...I like to put books from the same author or series together and Standalone books...height, lol.

This is starting to become a problem, lmao.

Mine are all over the place, on top of my overbed cupboard unit and take up the whole top (length of a single bed) and 3 of the shelves (single bed) then I have all my Stephen King books on the floor between my desk and door, and my bed and wardrobe.

They are sorted by Author's name, then release date (except in the case of a series they are kept together going by the release date of the first book in the set. The Stephen King books are sorted the same. One of the Shelves is my new books which I have yet to sort (waiting til after Christmas).

When I have my own place I want to turn a room into a library and have it sorted by author and date and also have my CD's stored there along with a soundsystem so I can just sit and read in there.

By Author, then series if it's part of one. If not then by date. Or if at random, alphabetical xD

    I organize my books oddly.
-School books are under my table in size order.
-Series I don't like are stacked face down going from last to first
-Books I dont read are under my bed
-Important books/magazines/comics are organized in size order on my bookshelf for important stuff

I have two bookshelves. The first one is really small and I put the books that I am currently reading, have just read, or are my favorites there. You know how at the library, there's those book seperaters/holders/supporters? I have a few. My favorite is this bronze monkey sitting on a pile of books, and holding one. It looks cute. I also use my Rubiks cube.

Then my second bookshelf has books I don't read but cannot imagine throwing out or giving away on the bottom shelf. The second shelf has interesting books like "Ripley's Believe it or Not" stuff. And the first shelf includes food for my fishies [Toby, Coby, and Sprinkles] which swim in the fish bowl on top of the small bookshelf and food for my turtle [Donatello] which sits on top of the big bookshelf.

I have two nice, big book shelves in my room. At the moment I really only have one filled up with books, but I also use them to hold clothes and school things, so it takes up a good bit of room. I first divide them into fiction and non fiction: if it's fiction, I organize them alphabetically by author's last name, and if it's non fiction, I organize them by subject. I also have a shelf devoted to books I haven't read yet. Eventually, if my collection gets large enough, I'll shuffle things around (organizing the books by genre, perhaps), but for the moment I like it as it is.

I have two, three rowed, shelves. One shelf is split in half. Top part is for children's books that carried on from my childhood and bottom shelf is for Non-Fiction. My other shelf is for YA/Adult Fiction that I've horribly failed to make into a rainbow book shelf.

At the moment my books are shelved by the Authors last name, but I am thinking of having a change around maybe changing it to colour coordinated. That always looks so cool, but I don't have a wide range of bright colours with my books yet haha.

I organise alphabetically by type within type. The bulk of my collection is non-fiction film theory/criticism so I have my British cinema shelf and it's broken down into time periods/movements so there's like eight books on New Wave and they're all organised alphabetically and then the next section is the 70s and it's all alphabetical and so on and so forth.

So basically it goes film non-fiction, music non-fiction, English fiction (split by genres), non-English (split by languages), then fiction series get their own shelf (Harry Potter shares a shelf with the Oz books and Narnia basically) and they go alphabetically by series but by number within the series, ie Harry Potter is organised Philosopher's Stone then Chamber of Secrets etc.

It seems like there's an extremely vague system when you look at it, but it makes grabbing things for reference super easy. Coffee

I do it by alphabetical order by the author's last names. I don't have a bookshelf big enough to hold all of my books, so I keep most of them in my loft so that they're not cluttering my room. The ones that I read the most are in my room on a tiny bookshelf that shares with my movies and CD's. And of course the occasional book on my bedside table. tehe

Shelf 2: Books I want to read next.
Shelf 3: Books I'm still interested in but don't have 100% interest in yet.
Shelf 4: Books that I'm sort of not into but I don't want to store them away just in case I feel like reading them.
Shelf 5: Books I've read before lmfao

    Shelved from top to bottom:

CDs by artist in order by release date, followed by DVDs by title. Then general fiction, alphabetized by author's last name. Followed by poetry/anthologies/plays/Shakespeare, also by last name. Then science/math books, also by last name (though I've been considering reorganizing it into subjects). Then comic books/graphic novels, then general reference.
And the bottom shelf is shared by some old chemistry textbooks and a pile of House MD season DVDs and PC/3DS games (which is used to divide the reference from the textbooks)

Admittedly my bookshelf is rather cluttered...because I also use it to display small stuffed animals, origami, and other misc crap. XD
