Things You Wish You Could Write

I wish I could venture out of my comfort zone without feeling utterly ridiculous and self-conscious.
Primarily, I'd love to be able to write characters that aren't teenagers. I've tried to write stories about adults and I just can't pull it off. They don't sound like adults. It might be because most of the adults I know don't act like adults in the first place... But yeah, I'd love to be able to write more, well, grown-up stuff. For want of a better word.

I would like to be able to write comedy.

Sex, horror, comedy, fantasy, a story with no romance... The list goes on and on.

It's be pretty cool if I could write slash, too. So many people can, and I'm just an utter failure at it. But I fail at a lot of stuff, too, so what does it matter?

dialogue scenes. I feel like I can write an intense prologue with tons of meaning and figurative language, but once the story progresses and dialogue is needed, I feel like my writing gets ruined.

I'd also like to try my hand at writing "witty" dialogue. When I do it, it always comes out sounding so forced and the character way too snarky and kind of a bitch.

I wish I could write satires and parodies; I tried starting one, but it was overly stereotypical (not that that's a bad thing for a parody, but there must be some sort of limit).

Something that's 100% serious.
Also, historical fiction. Some of the stuff I read in my history book inspires me, but I just can't, for the life of me, piece anything together, about it.

A finished chapter story.
Whenever I start, I never finish them.

Same. I can't not write in third person omniscient any more.

I wish I could do foreshadowing and symbolism and just generally subtle clues as to how the plot's going to pan out.

I wish I could start writing something in third person. I can write i, but I always feel the need to start writing something in first.

I wish I could write in third person or first person, present tense.

I've tried countless times to write a good slash story, though I think I need some more practice.
Also, I wish I could effortlessly make the opening to the story good, because I struggle with that.

I wish I could write fanfiction, but I'm too scared I'll get the characters completely wrong.
Poetry. I fail.
Decent one shots.
Het. I just, can't write it, I start them, but I can never manage to finish.

Comedy.
Sometimes it comes naturally, but writing comedy is hard...and writing GOOD comedy is even more difficult.
Which is why I love Monty Python so much.

Scripts and plays. Like, I could/can turn stories I've already written into scripts, but I just want to be able to write just a script.

Oh, and if I could right a decent one shot that's short but at the same time interesting my day would be made

Campy horror movie-like stories.

Or ghost stories.
