    Collective Soul.

From their beautiful, biting lyrics to the spiteful, loving ways Ed sings them, they're just heavenly to listen to in any mood.

^ Miyavi, he beats any Japanese band and solo artist unless the band is Dir En Grey. Then he is clearly beaten.

This is just because its part of who I am and my past.In my mind the best bands would be Escape The Fate and Avenged Sevenfold. It was a shame that the Rev died though.

I'm going to answer this question in 3 parts. I posted once before but I think this will be a better, more complete response to the question.

The band that, for me, started everything was The Kinks. The Kinks had this rough edge to them like no one else. They were the foundation for punk/grunge/alternative. They were absolutely incredible and so underrated. It really upsets me that a band as prolific as they were will forever be remembered for "You Really Got Me". =/

The band that changed everything, "the only band that matters". The Clash. They were so ahead of their time, bands now are still trying to catch up to where they were. They took genres that no one ever fathomed putting together and they made it beautiful. They're one of the original punk bands and, in my opinion, the most talented. They are almost unclassifiable for all the boundaries they pushed.

The band that makes you feel, the band that makes you think. Green Day. They sure knew how to push buttons. Starting out as a punk pop band with mushy heartbreak songs, they've evolved into one of the biggest bands in the world and they still have the same amount of passion and creativity as they had playing in Rod's Hickory Pit. They don't follow the rules, they don't stick to the same genre, they don't even stick to the same instruments. They write music for themselves and they put on the greatest live show of any band going right now. They're going down in history as one of the greatest bands to ever perform and they deserve it.

The Beatles, because they changed the way how music was and John Lennon was a good song writer with Paul McCartney. Cute

The "Greatest" bands would probably be a tie between The Runaways and Motley Crüe. But one of my favorite bands, other than these two, is Black Veil Brides.
All three are very influential in the music industry and they all have had some sort of impact on their listeners
