I think that's just dumb, tbh. XD

Strange: Excuse me, I need to get to the platform?
Girl: This guy totally banged my brains out last night.

I mean, there honestly can't be that many people that do that. Think

    What is overly promiscuous?

This is where I run into problems. Because a lot of people say it's a girl that sleeps around or sleeps with everyone or has a lot of sexual partners, but nobody has a magic number.

Audrey and someone else quoted something in one of my journals that says "a slut is a person who has had sex with one more person than you have".

So what is the definition of "overly promiscuous"? And what is the definition of "promiscuous"? Is there a set number for each? A set number per year a woman is allowed to sleep with?
I think it's more an attitude than number of people one sleeps with. I would call someone who has sex with one person a slut as much as a person who has slept with a hundred. It's all about how they carry themselves I believe.

Someone I know worked with a girl who had had sex with a lot of people...but you wouldn't call her a slut, because she was very discrete, and very unassuming. It was just something she did and she didn't make fuss about it and talk about it to people.

But then there was someone else we knew that was constantly talking about having sex and what she had done with this one guy and she was definitely what one would call 'overly promiscuous'.

What about someone who falls in the middle? I mean, say sex comes up and this girl has had sex with twenty people and she's only twenty years old. She carries herself with decorum and has a lot of self-respect. She wears clothes that show off her body, but that aren't trashy. (Just well-fitting, y'know.) Would she be a slut? And then, if the conversation continued into sex and she gave more details, would she be a slut for sharing since she has a lot more to share?

I mean, it's not always so cut and dry. There's not always bragging vs. keeping your mouth shut about it.

    Simple answer. No. And no.

    More involved answer: No.......and no.

You said it already. Self-respect. I should have mentioned that earlier. If one respects their body then they're definitely not a 'slut' in my eyes.

Well, you never know. I consider a stranger someone who I've only seen for three days or less. If they tell me something like that, then I'd consider it kind of sluttish. Doesn't matter though, to me, I don't use the word anyway. I just let people do them, and I do me. Yeah, I might have my opinion on it, but that's as far as it goes (that is, unless it's affecting me negatively)

I don't know if you're saying this hypothetically or reflecting you opinion, but does dressing provocatively make you a slut?
I was just sating it hypothetically.

When you combine dressing provocatively with other attributes (attitude, location, personal history), then it could make a person a slut, but I don't think it makes you one by itself.
    dru gives a damn.:
Or would it be more "slutty" for me to tell people randomly that I sleep around?
Do you tell people who you've never really associated with before?
Like, I know on Mibba you've mentioned it before, but mostly you don't really say a number, you just say "a lot" or how you can have discussions about sex.

If you have ever mentioned a number, and I've seen it, then I don't think I
considered it outrageous... or I'd remember.

In my opinion, you're just having an adult conversation with other adults. I didn't realize until I was older how much adults do talk about sex, atleast the women I hang around with talk about it all the time. Naughty

I went to an all-girls school, and I don't know if it's because you're surrounded by girls all day, but the students would "make up for it" by screwing around with a lot of guys, especially the one's at our sister (brother?) school. Then, they'd brag about it to everyone and anyone so that people wouldn't think they were lesbians because they went to an all-girls.

    Those girls I considered sluts.

Just being curious, and you don't have to answer this if you don't like because it's a little personal, but does this forum relate to you, in any way?

I've always wondered what the magic number for slut is because I'm not sure if I fit the definition. So it certainly interests me on a personal level. I talk about sex, I'm open about it, occasionally wear revealing clothing, have casual sex, multiple partners, etc.

So it's very interesting to me.

I've never been the one to believe there's a magic number either. In the future, I could see myself being lose with sex. Why, I have no fucking idea...no it's because of the thoughts I have. Naughty But I need to move out before I even get a taste of sex.

To me, being a slut does have a lot to do with your attitude and how you carry yourself, but but your behavior has a lot to do with it too, obviously. To me, a slut isn't someone who has multiple sexual partners. I think a slut, to me, is someone who tries to hook up with another person despite the fact that they have a boyfriend/girlfriend and vice versa, and just don't care. It can also come down to how a person dresses, but again, attitude has a lot to do with it. I've definitely dressed provactively before, but the few times I've done it, it was for a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and so it was just for fun and not to get the attention of other people, because many women that were there were dressed the same way. (And the men.) XD But that being said, I have a pair of black leather short-shorts that I definitely plan on wearing out, once it gets warmer. But I'm a virgin and haven't done anything more than make out with somebody. I don't think that makes me a slut, and I think it's unfair to call a girl a slut simply by the way she dresses. I think people throw that term around a little too loosely nowadays.

Like, for example: I'll go online to some gossip website, and there will be a picture of Miley Cyrus walking down the street wearing a tanktop and shorts, and in the comments section, I'll see so many that say, "oh, she's such a slut!" If wearing shorts and a tank when it's hot (especially in LA) makes somebody a slut, then I must be a downright hooker, 'cause that's all I wore last summer. Shifty

I'd define a slut as someone who's promiscuous out of lack of self respect or lack of respect for other's emotions. Certain people believe in being polyamorous, and I wouldn't say that makes them slutty, necessarily. They just have different beliefs than most.

Why would polyamorous relationships be considered slutty in the first place? You're still having sex in a committed relationship.

To me a slut is someone who uses sex in a manipulative/devious way. I don't mean devious by traditional terms. For example.. sleeping with someone just to hurt someone else. I don't think casual sex makes you a slut. I don't think one night stands makes you a slut. I think it's perfectly fine to have purely sexual relations with someone, as long as you're both on the same page. And I do agree that a person's attitude contributes to their... slut level.

    No, it's definitely not.

It's like the argument that if a girl is dressed proactively/ she deserves to be raped/was asking for it. It's bullshit, in other words.
