Well I'm not a teen parent at all, but I can relate to it in a few ways. I'm the eldest of five children in my family, so for a long time I've had the responsibility of looking after young children during the day and over night.
Honestly, it's hard waking up at all hours to give bottles and check there ok. The constant dread of not hearing their breathing on the monitor terrifies me. I can never sleep properly when there's a new baby in my care.
I can only imagine how a parent must feel, especially considering a teen parent may have the responsibility of school/college/peers/general teen issues.
I'm a teen parent! Well, step-parent, kinda. My boyfriend has a four year old daughter that he just found out about it like in July or something (can't remember). His ex girlfriend kind of forced him to have sex with her, then she left him. Later on she tried to "screw" up his life by telling him he was a dad, but in the end, it all turned out great. She looks just like him. Yep.
In a way I am, sort of, you'll see why later in this post. I was almost a teen mama. My fiance and I went through a phase where we thought we just couldn't wait any longer and did some stupid things. Thank goodness I didn't end up getting pregnant, for the baby's sake. He is very financially stable and able to support all three of us, but life likes to throw in plenty of twists and curves. I'm very excited to have a child, though.
I take care of my little brother like he's my son because my parents aren't much of parents, and it just makes me want to be a mom even more. He even used to call me mom when he was a toddler, despite the fact that I told him not to.
What are your most favorite and least favorite things about being a parent?
Honestly, when I was pregnant with my first child (at sixteen), I was so afraid of what people would think. But now I'm pregnant with my second child (who is due in September of this year) and I'm okay with raising a three year old and a new born baby because I have the baby-daddy and my family who love me.
My oldest child: Her name is Leighton Marie Harris (Child to my ex-boyfriend, Matt who died before Leighton was born) and my second child (Gender unknown / child of my fiancee, Evan) will either be Charlee Avalyn O'Donnell or Charles Joesph O'Donnell. c:
I don't know if I plan to have any more children in the future, but if I did, I would adopt from a country like Haiti (preferably a baby). But for now, I'm focusing on raising my two kids until they graduate :3
Landslide: My least favorite thing is that I do have a stable home and man, but I'm always stuck with my baby. And the fact that my man takes depression meds but Is very madly in love isn't helping. He's very very lovey but not in public. Aiyana: Staying out of school helps. You kinda just gotta let it pass.
Yeah, I see how that'd be frustrating. When my fiance and I do eventually have kids, his family would be more than happy to take the kid(s) for a couple hours every few days. It's how his family is with that. I'm glad. What about your favorite thing?
