At the end of the day, there's a difference between teasing between friends where everyone is fine with it and bullying.

My best friend refers to himself as "ginger."
He's also big on making jokes about gingers.
He likes to claim that gingers have no souls, which he can get away with because he is one himself.

It definitely has to do with who you're speaking to.
Not everything is going to be funny to everyone, especially if they don't know you well enough to know you're joking.

I find it rather funny that some sperm banks won't allow red heads to donate.

Personally, I'd love some redhead kids but it appears unlikely. Mind you, a lot of the awesome characters nowadays are redheaded, I don't understand why on earth people would have it in for them.

I think some people just are so...vexed(?) by people being different that they have to say horrible things about them.

There was crap before then but they didn't help. It did create that "gingers don't have souls" thing. It's odd because SP also said Japanese people have no souls but it doesn't seem to have stuck.

To be truthful, the entire debate about Gingers and Souls came from youtuber C0ppercab. I've been following him since he started on youtube and oh my, he doesn't exactly make life easy for himself.

I have red hair and I got picked on BAD.
Words like "ginger" and "firecrotch" and people ripping my hair out were what made me afraid to go to school every day.

My friends tease me all the time about it but they don't mean any harm. But in high school I was harassed quite often.

Actually, red hair is a dominant trait.
Red hair tends to show up a lot in families that have the gene.
If I make babies with my best friend (which I don't think I'd necessarily be in objection to), I will have sweet, sweet little gingers.

It doesn't matter if there's no freckles or what. Usually if the hair is any shade of red, from auburn to strawberry blonde, they'll get picked on. I've suffered from bullying all throughout schooling due to my hair being "ranga." It's horrible. But, being a ginger really is bright, natural red hair. Although, that fact doesn't really deter people from mocking every red-haired person that they come across.

I actually am more sexually attracted to redheads. I am not even sure why, to be honest.

I'm a natural ginger, freckles and all, and I've actually never been teased for it. Actually guys seem to looooove it. Tbh I didn't even know bullying kids for being redheaded was a thing until I saw that episode of South Park. xD

I'm not a ginger and I don't even have red hair, I'm a brunette. But my hair also has natural red highlights so whenever direct sunlight hits my hair, the red reflects and makes the rest of my hair look red as well. I wouldn't say I ever got bullied for it, because I don't think it escalated enough as to where I'd consider it bullying (for myself at least). But I did get teased for it. People knew I wasn't a redhead, but whenever the sun would make it look like I was, that's when the jokes started getting made. It was just stupid schoolyard hokes though, nothing that ever meant anything big to me. It all only happened in elementary school, so I guess I've just brushed it off. By the time middle and high school rolled around, people have found better ways to make fun of and bully each other so it just became meaningless to worry about at that point.

I think a lot of people will pass off the whole "ginger thing" off as a joke and not take it seriously. If anyone gets offended by it, they're just being "too sensitive". But I guess that's where the question comes in, when does it stop being a joke and turns into harassment? I don't think a lot of people know when their "jokes" become sheer harassment and bullying.

I seriously love red heads the majority of the guys I've been attracted to have been red heads.

I, personally think joking about gingers becomes harassment when:

1. They've asked the jokes to stop and the "jokes" continue.
2. The person doing the joking isn't close enough to the red head and the red head clearly looks uncomfortable.
3. The joking is purposely used to in a negative way.

Those are my opinions anyway.

Thing is, one of my oldest friends is ginger. A while ago he got really drunk and angry and had a huge rant on his facebook (we've all done it) about how much it upset and frustrated him that people would treat him badly because of his hair colour. Truth is though, most of the time, he makes more "ginger" jokes about himself than anyone else does.

Aside from him, I er... well yeah, i go in for the whole ginger thing. I'm sorry, they're hot. I like my lovers better without a soul anyway.

One of my girlfriends has red hair and once told me she'd always thought 'ginger' was a negative slang term, like a much less offensive n-word. I had never thought of it like that. I told her I'd always thought it was like 'blonde' or 'brunette'. Just another way to say redhead.

Whatever the case, I find myself majorly attracted to gingers like Eddie Redmayne and Rupert Grint.

My friend dyed her hair red and I called her a ranga once and she got majorly pissed at me. It was more to the point of other people catching on and calling her a ranga though, so I can see the sense. Like, if it's between friends and you're not harping on it and it isn't the punch line of every joke and you mean it light heartedly then people shouldn't take offence.

But if you don't know someone, I think people should pull in the reigns. Same if they tell you to stop, friend or not.
It depends on your relationship, what you're saying and their personal stance on it. If they joke about it with everyone than fair game. You can't be a hypocrite.

I too find redheads attractive.

I got bullied terribly for being the only redhead in my school year, made worse that my entire close family have dark hair.
Light teasing is one thing but being targeted outright has been devastating to my self esteem and mental health.
So yes hone way to far.
Although redheads have been vexed in most cultures for basically ever, it is after all the most recessive gene.
