I've been absolutely obsessed with listening to Dookie as of late. I have no idea why, because I haven't listened to it in a good year, but it just happened to come on shuffle and I remembered loving how much my parents would play it around the house when I was younger. I just can't get over how much I love this band, it's crazy. tehe

Green Day is the air that I breath, the blood that pumps through my veins that keeps me alive, and my first crushes Razz They've always meant a great deal to me, and have inspired me every day that I don't need to be anyone else, just me, because being weird and unwanted is better than being fake and living a lie. I don't know anymore how many GD fanfics I've posted to this site, but there's quite a few. I'm pretty proud of Remember Me, it's sequel was a little... Out there. :P I'll probably be redoing it soon. Also, I've been listening to American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown nonstop for the last two days. Really digging Viva La Gloria, I've always been loony for the song, but maybe it just never clicked until now, I dunno lol

One, 2 Guns , lay down your arms, give up the fight.
One, 2 Guns , throw up your arms, into the sky. You and I.

I've loved Green Day since I was in 7th grade, around the time when American Idiot was released, and I've loved them ever since. It's still my absolute dream to see them live, one day it will happen Shifty

I just honestly can't get into any of their stuff past American Idiot, though, I don't know, maybe I'm just so incredibly biased to their albums like Dookie and Warning, even Kerplunk! and 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. Their sound evolved after American Idiot, and I'm not saying that it's a bad evolution, I just don't care for it much as much as their older albums, which will always be held close to my heart.

Every once and a while I sit and while I'm listening to to Disney music, I still reassure myself that the epiphany I had a few years ago while sleep deprived still stands true.

And if you're curious as to what that is: I've decided that if Billie Joe, Adrienne, Mike, Tre, and Jason White were Disney characters they'd all be characters from Aladdin. Billie Joe is Aladdin, Adrienne is Jasmine, Mike is Abu, Tre is Genie and Jason is magic carpet. Boom.

And on a serious note, I'm excited to see what the band does next. I fucking love everything they do. Although it did take me a little bit longer to get the bonus tracks from everything ('cause I kept forgetting to) which probably explains why I was so shocked that so many people know what song is in my signature.

Hahaha I can REALLY REALLY see Tre as Genie :P

Your sig is da bomb Cool I haven't listened to that song in so long, and I think I just might right now.

I'm excited for whatever comes next for them. They're probably one of the only bands that doesn't scare me before they release something because I trust them that it'll be awesome.

THANK YOU! I told one of my other friends and she just stared at me like, "Okay then. You need to calm down."

Apparently I just missed the EP party because I was genuinely shocked as many people knew about this song as they did considering it's not on any of their actual albums.

Same. I'm just always excited for whatever's next. They're my precious babies.

Has there really been 17 threads dedicated to Green Day? Damn, that's impressive!

But anyways, I came here about Wake Me Up When September Ends and the meaning behind it. I'm curious because for some reason I always thought it was about 9/11 - but recently I've seen a few big fans say it's about his dad, who died of cancer. Is that true? I mean I wouldn't call any fan a liar, it's just, it's so sad if it is... And either way, the song itself has sad undertones so no matter what the meaning, people should understand to just not make jokes - why would anyone make jokes about something sad? Ah. Unsure

    @ pocahontas.
Yes, the song was written about Billie Joe's father dying of cancer. He's stated it in multiple interviews, and he also explained it almost line by line in the documentary about the American Idiot musical. It was in that documentary where I had it confirmed that the '7 years', '20 years' and stuff is supposed to be him remembering his father as a young man and then as an adult, et cetera.
