Steampunk and Futurism mesh together with mime and music to create a breathtakingly imaginative act.

Hydraulics hiss and motors hum as three robots begin to snap into mechanical movement.
Their instruments ring and the automatons begin to belt out in three part harmony.

The robots of Steam Powered Giraffe are like nothing you've ever seen. The malfunctioning joke-spewing metal men play a collection of original Vaudeville inspired tunes fused with modern flare and executed in a super-sleek, one-of-a-kind performance.

More than just a band, Steam Powered Giraffe is an experience that must be seen and heard by the entire family.

The artists behind the robots started street busking as these quirky characters in January 2008 at Balboa Park, California, and instantly drew the attention of Southern California. Since then they've performed at such venues as The San Diego Fair, The San Diego Zoo, The Wild Animal Park, Legoland, Ontario Mills, and numerous Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Steampunk Conventions.

The act combines the visual of robot pantomime with sketches, pop culture references, improvised comedic dialogue, and of course, original music.

From their heartwarming nostalgic melodies to their funky cabaret rock, Steam Powered Giraffe's songs are memorable, infectious, and as unique as the robots themselves.

Trained in pantomime by Seaport Village mime Jerry Hager, with collective backgrounds in clown, theatre, music, and visual design, Jon Sprague, and the Bennett twins Christopher and David have sculpted a striking homegrown performance that will leave you tapping your feet and humming for days.

The magic and intrigue of the robots continues to spread across the USA and beyond.

Um, hello, is it okay to revive this thread? Unsure Perhaps the release of their new album The 2ยข Show a little while ago is enough to warrant a revival? I have recently discovered this lovely musical troupe (thanks to a steadily increasing fandom on Tumblr) and I've got to say, they're pretty brilliant! Not just the music, but their showmanship/performance when in front of an audience. They are truly great entertainers and I'd love to see them live one of these days.

As far as favourite songs, I fear I must be cliche and choose two of the most well known songs: Brass Goggles and Honeybee. Though I am also quite fond of Clockwork Vaudeville, Ice Cream Parade (goodness that song is absolutely ridiculous), and Airheart, from the new album.

Have you guys heard anything from them recently? I kinda backed off a little when Jon left, but I'm going to see them again in July, so I dunno what's going on with SPG right now.
