As an author, having the ability to communicate is probably key. Recently, things have gotten hectic in my life and my stories are temporarily paused - on hiatus. However, none of my readers are aware due to the fact I cannot post Author's Notes on a chapter (that they will be alerted about) or anywhere that could possibly alert them or draw attention to an important notice.

An option where that is possible would help immensely! An option where a notice/note could be sent out to the subscribers' emails would be most helpful! Even an 'inactive' notice on the subscription list on Mibba, directing them to a page off of the main story summary would help :)

If you delete the last chapter and repost it, your subscribers will get an email. I suppose it's a bit underhanded, but I don't think it's against the rules, and that way they'll see that you changed the status.

I just think if there's an option to communicate with subscribers without posting content, it'll get abused by people who want to promote their other stories / promote their friends' stories / harass subscribers to comment / etc. :\

    It's sad, but true..
But maybe if we had something like a checkbox? I don't know how to explain what I'm thinking completely, but if you had a small list with things like: "Hiatus", "Inactive", etc.. on it that you could choose one and it'd send an email to the subscribers saying the status of the story has changed, or something of the sort? That way it's a generic message that still gets the point acrossed and it can't be abused to promote stories..

Maybe that would work? Because I like this idea. For one, because I hate reading something, and when I get on, I look forward to reading it and it's either discontinued or on hiatus and I never know when I can stop waiting... And second, because I hate doing that to people myself..

Maybe it could be an option but subscribers have to tick a box to receive communication from the author every time they subscribe to a story. That way they decide if they want to risk being spammed, can turn it off if they want, and can certainly report it if it's being used for spam.

It would be especially useful to those of us who aren't going to be on the site for awhile and want to let people know why so that we don't get spammed with "When are you updating your stories?!?!?"
