There's a guy at my work and he's been there for a couple years, so I don't blame him for being thorough, but he seriously checks up on everything I do. And I know it's because I'm a girl. There's another guy that got hired around the same time as me who didn't even show up for his shift a couple times and he still gets more trust than I do. I don't actually know what to say about it because I've only been there a month and a half but he seriously does not think I can even handle myself, and he doesn't act that way with any of the guys, he seriously has no reason to think that. I've never shown up late and I've always done what's been asked of me, but he still refuses to think of me as the same ability level as anyone else that works there Grr

Today I worked two hours later than my shift (a total of nine hours) and my boss had the audacity to lecture me for leaving some pens on the counter. Yeah, okay. See if I ever stay late to help you out again.

I wouldn't say he's evil, per say, but we do have this coworker who thinks he's superior to everyone else when he's clearly not. He tried to boss me and this other chick around while the three of us were on registers, with him complaining that he wanted an easy day because he was so bored of doing stock.

Ahem buddy, everyone does stock, everyone's working hard and some people don't even get to do register work so do not complain about the type of work you get, seriously. If he sticks around and say, I got fired, that would just be bull. I love my work and the people in it, the work is fine, it's not rocket science and it's easy to do, and the fact that he can find something to complain about it is just sad.

I'm leaving a small, family owned retail store I've worked at for three years to pursue a better paying, full time corporate job a week from now. I was one of the asst. managers (the youngest at that) and one of the girls I work with (who is two years younger than me) had consistently lied about me and tried to get me in trouble with the boss.

We recently hired another keyholder instead of promoting 'evil girl', because...well...evil girl is evil and shouldn't be promoted. The keyholder is a very sweet girl who I get along with well, despite her lack of initiative and general work ethic. I like her, and she's very easy to coach and direct.

Well, evil girl decided she didn't like the keyholder getting on so well at the store and lied to the girl about countless things that the entire staff supposedly hates about her. The keyholder came to me when I was doing paperwork in the back - in tears, and tried quitting.

I nearly throttled evil girl when she came into work, as this is the fifth time she's done this and somehow has yet to be fired. I intend to make that my mission for my last week here.

You and the new keyholder should document the lies and present them to a manager above you. Evil girl is creating a hostile work environment and if she doesn't change, the business could be sued for not protecting their employees.

    @ gonna hear dru roar.

oh, believe me - I've already taken the proper steps to document/approach the situation according to the company's guidelines. as of today everything has been viewed by the manager (my direct boss) and after she reviews all the evidence - i'm sure the girl will be terminated. my original post was a bit more juvenile than I wanted it to be - but it was my first opportunity to rant about it, so that's what I did. everything's being handled in a way I think is appropriate, so we'll see what happens!

I don't want the girl to be fired, because I would hate to put anyone out of work but I think that's the only thing that will teach her a lesson. She's young - she doesn't have to be like that forever.

At work there is a girl who is completely two-faced. When the manager is around she works hard and is nice to everyone. As soon as the manager leaves she just stands at the register and talks down to people. All of us have gone to the Manager In Training to see if she could talk some sense into the manager. The manager talked with the girl but two weeks later the girl went right back to her ways. I have been at this job for a year and nin months but I don't know how much more of her crap I can take.

Working at Subway was worse than high school when it came to cliques. Everyone had friends there expect me; the only time I was ever really acknowledged for something other than the work at hand was when they wanted me to take a shift for them. I wasn’t taught a lot of important things in training so when they asked me to do certain things and I told them I didn’t know how they’d get shitty and do it themselves instead of showing me so I could do the things they asked. One of the shift runners had it out for me and I have no idea why, it was pathetic seeing a grown man with a wife and kids being so spiteful to 14 year old girl. I also had a really seedy boss. When my family friend was asking if I could work there the first thing he asked was “is she hot?” (he also has a wife and kids and I know there have been some incidents with other employees where he's followed them into the bathroom)

My old boss was a pretty nasty boss. She treated a few people better, but she was still nasty to them at times, too.
The only time she'd ever say anything to me is if I did anything wrong, which, in her eyes, I did daily. That, and I have a wrist problem due to a car accident, so I had issues with doing the work. I know I should've informed them of that, but I still wouldn't have been happy there. I keep neglecting to go to the doctor for my wrist (was told it was "just a sprain" the first time), but life gets really busy sometimes :/.
I used to try my absolute best for her, but it was never enough. She made me feel absolutely horrible about myself and made me feel so faulty/worthless. I only worked there for eight months, but I don't even know how I hung in there that long.
I kept questioning how I could work harder and how I couldn't have been working to their standards, but I couldn't come up with any answer whatsoever. There was no possible physical or mental way I could've worked any harder than I had already been.

At my new job, my supervisor and the owners of the company love me, and so did the person who was boss for a short period of time. It just goes to show that it wasn't me; it was them (the old boss). I even received a special bonus this month for all of my effort.

I once got fired due to the neglect of my manager.

I worked in a small records store, easily managed by two people, especially during the busy month of December. However, my manager thought it was best that I was in charge of the store while he went off to help out other record stores in the franchise. During the December month, we got sixteen crates of supplies, while I was working on my own. I had to rearrange the store, put up the new discount deals, unpack the sixteen crates and help out costumers. This, while I arrived at work with a migraine, which I informed my manager about.

He refused to call in a co-worker to help me out, because than to many people would have clocked in that week. My co-worker ended up showing up anyway, working for free to help me out. I wasn't allowed to leave, even though I was throwing up because of my migraine. Luckily, the next day was a day off and I could lay in bed all day and sleep off this terrible migraine that ended up lasting two full days.

The next day I came into work and my manager looked extremely upset. The district manager had come by and told him the store looked terrible. Instead of owning up to his own mistakes, he threw me under the buss. He expected me to manage a store while I wasn't being payed a manager salary, plus I was never trained to manage a store and wouldn't be able to do so even if I tried. He told me he had to let me go, because of my lack of interest in upholding the store.

I was furious, but what could I do? Was I rightfully terminated? Not at all. I was fired for not doing what I wasn't payed to do, if that makes any sense. A few months later, I heard that my old manager was fired as they discovered that the store still wasn't running well and finally found out that he was the problem and not me. Alas, I was already fired and could no longer return.

My first job was at a large general store managed by an ignorant man with disgusting attitudes towards his employees. He'd frequently make lewd remarks towards me (I was 17 at the time) and would make a point of humiliating me and my colleagues. I resigned after an incident where he threw a biscuit tin at me and bruised my collarbone after I had accidentally left it on the till after a refund. I've never been so shocked by such a small action and I went home in a state and handed in a complaint shortly afterwards. Not an enjoyable job in the slightest!
