I never understood the appeal of reading The Lord of the Rings and thought it was a very dry read, which eventually pushed me to give up on my mission to finish it. I prefer the movies over the books.
I also agree. I've been reading the LOTR books for about 5 years and I'm only on the second one and I can't bring myself to finish it. I might have to chalk this up as the first book series that I've ever given up on reading at this rate.

It took months for me to finish the second book and to this day it's the only one I've read. There's just too much in them. As for the movies, I can watch them nonstop for days without getting bored.

I like Blink-182 better with Matt Skiba. Coffee I'd go as far as to say California is my favourite album.

SOMEBODY FINALLY SAID IT. I wholeheartedly agree. File
I hate the sunshine, and I'd personally much rather it was either cold or raining than really warm.

I have a lot of friends who saw patd this weekend and were really inspired/hyped, but I honestly am so off-put by some of the things Brendon Urie has said before that I find all his ~inspirational speeches~ to be entirely manipulative and skeevy.

I despise identity politics, and I think they are to blame for our current shitty political climate. I think even when people are well-intentioned when using that ideology, they ultimately do more harm than good. I think we need to focus on what unites us, not what divides us.

Memes I hate: The TM meme. The one where you end a statement with "Karen" or "Sharon" or some other typical older white lady name. And for a different reason, "I want to die" jokes, because I make them all of the time too but I think the pervasive normalization of them actually contributes to worsening suicidal ideation + less people reaching out to each other with serious assistance.
    -
I think youtuber personalities are PEOPLE and it's weird to idolize them / write fanfic about them. I think so with celebrities and bands and actors as well. But I don't think the same way about characters played by actors/celebrities/bands.
    -
I think otherkin is legitimately harmful when taken seriously and used as a large form of identity development.
    -
I don't really think being drunk or even having orgasms are that amazing of sensations. I prefer a good, calm baseline level over spikes of pleasure (and I don't think substance use is every really pleasurable to begin with).

I more or less agree with you on all of that. Especially the part about the memes. Admittedly the TM meme is one I like if it is used sparingly or very cleverly, and the "I want to die" kind of jokes can also be funny, but at the same time I definitely agree that they go too far or get overly used and that people need to realize that that kind of humor isn't always as good a coping mechanism as they think it is. It truly can lead to unhealthy thinking or at least it can encourage unhealthy thought to continue.
I do not like positive only dog training, and I'm highly skeptical that it actually works, especially in cases where dogs have extreme behavior issues. Like, I'm sorry but if your dog is biting people or threatening to, training it with treats and stuff doesn't seem like the best approach to me; you need to clearly communicate to the animal that it is doing something unacceptable. I mean, for crying out loud, you'd never raise a kid without discipline. Why would you raise an animal that way?

Most people are too stupid to make decisions for themselves and high IQ people need to run societies.

I finally found someone who isn't completely and utterly obsessed by Brendon Urie, thank the spirits.

cringe culture is dumb. let people play this game or make this cosplay or enjoy this movie / that show. i’ve seen people say it’s dead but it’s really, really not. to keep a super long rant short, if it’s not hurting anyone, leave it alone. a kid’s sonic oc is not going to break into your house! an adult liking cartoons is not going to kill you! a self-insert meeting & falling in love with sasuke in a coffee shop is not out to get you! it’s only when it becomes harmful that it should be called out. other than that, just let people have fun. especially kids. kids are becoming afraid to post their art, cosplays and writing online because of these stupid cringe compilations / accounts and it's sad and ugly. imagine making fun of actual children because they want to draw their favorite characters rather than encourage them to continue exploring positive creative outlets.
liking a terrible / villainous character doesn’t make you a terrible / villainous person. you can acknowledge their wrongdoings and still enjoy their character!
