So like i know theres, showering or taking a bath, advil, heating pad, exercise. But does anyone kno of any other things that help them that are not medicine related?. Im looking for a way to relieve cramps with out taking advil since i cant take to much advil because im on blood thinners (i can only take like one advil every like 8 hours). I took one last night for my cramps and it took about three hours to kick in, insane since its only suppose to take like fourty minutes to kick in. So please share any remedies!. Also going back to the exercise thing, does hula hooping help? haha. Thanks people. Very Happy

Eating bananas is the only thing I can think of that you haven't already listed. It's not an immediate remedy, but it does help a little for me. You have to have one a day, starting a few days before your period, to get your potassium levels up.

I've also read grapefruit can help. Never tried it though, don't like grapefruit.

I've heard that drinking lemon juice/eating lemons a week before your period or so can help reduce the bloating, which in turn helps with the pain. I've always relied on birth control and heavy pain killers to get me through the cramps (though I (probably) have Endometriosis, so the cramps are pretty terrible and unbearable otherwise). I don't know if you'd be able to take BC with your blood thinners (or if you'd even want to go that route), but that's what's really helped me the most. If not, I'd try the lemon juice a few weeks before, bananas, and all the other things you've listed already. Though these remedies aren't as quick to relieve the pain, if you do them all and maybe get some sort of routine going, I'm sure you'll find some relief :)

I have pretty horrible cramps in my right thigh and my lower back (it lasts two days).

Normally, I take one Ibuprofen and one Tylenol (actually, I take like 2-3 of each; my body gets used to things pretty quick and I always have to up the dosage a bit). It helps me and I heard it works for others. I'm not sure if you're allowed to take either if you're on blood thinners, but it's the suggestion.

I would try googling some remedies and see what pops up

chocolate. sounds crazy but chocolate has the "happiness hormone" which mimics the effect of love on your brain. and those hormones make your cramps a lot more bearable. learned this watching criminal minds xD

I get horrific period pains even when I am on the pill so to ease my pain I drink loads of decaf tea with 3 teaspoons of sugar. I eat loads of bananas, dark green veggies (Such as spinach and broccoli.) I eat meals with any type of bean in it (Green beans/ Lime beans/ mung beans.) Lots of hot soup (Pumpkin/ potato and leak/ chicken and veggie/ tomato.) And I make sure that my showers are really really hot.

Basically, things high in natural sugars and iron are the way to go seeing as you've lost it all through your period.

    I hope this helps! :)

Heat packs or hot water bottles. If cramping is making it difficult to sleep, I use a hot water bottle.
