Grouplove, a five piece band that met in Crete on an artist's residency in 2009, is made up of vocalist Christian Zucconi, vocalist/keyboardist Hannah Hooper, bassist Sean Gadd, guitarist Andrew Wessen, and drummer Ryan Rabin (or as wikipedia puts it: Ryan plays drums/stuff.) They released a self-titled EP and a full length titled Never Trust A Happy Song in 2011, and both Tongue Tied and Colours have hit it off on the airwaves.

I've met Grouplove three times now, and I can easily say that they're the nicest individuals I've ever met- Christian actually put me on the guestlist for their show the day I met him, which was absolutely insane. Their showmanship is wonderful, and you really can't stay still at a Grouplove concert unless you're seriously thinking about it. Not to mention, look up any of Hannah's art, and it's positively amazing.

    What's your opinion on them?

Anyone seeing them on their headlining show this spring? I can't, since they're not coming to Florida, but I've got a good informant telling me that they'll be back here come summer :-)

HOW did I not see this thread?

I love Grouplove. The songs are beautiful, some light and lovely, some dark and deep. They're fun. They were incredible live (Southbound 2012) and I'm so glad they got so many tracks in the Hottest 100 in Australia.

Colours got me into them, Tongue Tied is probably the standout favourite, but I love the bitterness in Love Will Save Your Soul and the sadness in Itchin' on a Photograph. Naked Kids and Spun are great fun. Close Your Eyes and Count to Ten was the most fun live though, I think, and it was basically the anthem of that summer for me - and Chloe in a more upbeat way - so much life and love and waves - figurative waves, great happiness and great sadness, and literal waves - the beach, the sun and surf, like being in a hackneyed yet heartfelt low-budget Australian coming-of-age film. That's how the band makes me feel.

Grouplove is so delightful and sprawling, I feel like they've got something for everyone, yet there's definitely a thread running through it all; it's not random, or overreaching, or too experimental, which I've seen with some bands' work.

Everyone should go and get the album Never Trust a Happy Song, see if it's your thing. If it is, you'll absolutely love it.

@pravda- You can't forget the EP , though! Gold Coast and Getaway Car and Don't Say Oh Well are brilliance- Don't Say Oh Well definitely is one of those leaving home and making the best out of it songs, and Gold Coast is so dismal sounding and inspiring, not to mention that Christian's vocals just exceed any expectations in my mind. I'm assuming you've seen them in concert before, since you said you saw Close Your Eyes... live? I've got so many Grouplove goodies - acoustic songs, signatures, drawings - it's insane. Hannah ended up giving me a wonderful little piece of art that's up on my wall now when I saw them last, just because I must've made an impression on the guys or something of the sort!

like, acoustic colours, acoustic tongue tied, and acoustic chloe- I filmed these at a little set they did the day I saw them the second time, and they're absolutely brilliant, all of them.

@Darkest Storm- do you have a favorite song? Mine's gotta be a tie between Gold Coast and Colours, :-)

It's been a few months since the last post- since that, I literally had the best experience ever at a show they did. Has anyone else seen them recently?

Every time I've seen them aside from the acoustic set, they've opened with that and it's so fantastic live. Have you caught a show of theirs?
